I miss jumping off the diving board

Being flat is mostly fine. I miss my breasts every day but I also know myself. I wouldn't be happy with implants and given my mets, the idea of 'wasting' time recovering from surgery is a problem for me.

But... I miss feeling confident jumping in the pool and not worrying about my suit going kookoo. I have double mx, and currently have homemade 'poofs' in my suit. They are fine if just hanging in the pool. If I had my own pool, laps no problem. I could adjust afterwards. but I belong to a local pool club mainly for my daughter and find myself going in the water less and less. I used to jump off the board as a traditon (1x per year). Now there is no way. I'm planning on visiting Norstroms and getting fitted for swim prostheses but I fear that it won't improve my confidence any once I'm wet.

Anyone have any experience with this? This seems so trivial but I already can't do so many things I used to do because I don't feel great (long difficult hikes, skiing) that this just bugs me. Also DD seems disapponted I don't frolic with her like I used to. And that is more about confidence in the fake boobs than energy.

I didn't have the time and energy to figure something out for swimming so I go flat. I bought a running"bra" that fits snug and Lands End sold (last year-not sure about this year) these bathing suit material tank like tops ( meant to wear over bikini tops). They don't have cups so they work great. I wear that over the running bra and wear a bikini bottom. It works really well if you don't mind being flat. I also just wear the running bra (it's black ) and my bikini bottom sometimes. Just one idea. Hope you find something that works.

I have a Lands End Mastectomy suit top and I use the forms from a handful bra to give me a little shape and look less like a troll doll.  The only time I have malfunctions is when the toddler tries using me as a platform.  I have jumped, swam laps, and done water areobics.  I was nervous, but I am happy with the purchase.

Hello Annie, I am sorry you;ve lost a bit of confidence.

I bought an Amoena swimsuit, and Swimform.. no problem. The pockets in the suit are really secure. I am a Uni, with a "D" on the other side, but I find that it all feels, and looks fine. The suit has a slightly higher neckline and armholes for extra security. Like politicomama says, Lands End makes a really go Mx suit too.

I would urge you to give the prosthesis a go in a secure suit, it may just feel right for you, and solve this issue. I hope you are back at the pool and feeling more confident soon.

I have to say though, I have never jumped off the high board, but I think, if I ever did get the nerve to try that, my foob would be the least of my worries! LOL The discordant arms and legs and potential belly flop would be my fear.

    Good Luck, and take care!

I am a "uni", also. I bought a swim form and found it very uncomfortable. So I made a form from a poofy. This summer I spent time playing in a community pool with my two year old grandson. My attitude is that,if anyone happens to see my flat chest when I am horsing around in the water, I hope it is a "breast cancer awareness" moment for them!

I have Amoena swim forms and Lands Ends mastectomy swim suits, and I have been very pleased with them both.  Easy to swim with the forms, and I haven't had any issues with them moving around, etc.

Just to add -- I've done water aerobics and things with them too, and no problems!
