Mac, love the picture. It is just magestic
-
Nancy and Lisa, love the ship pictures! In my whole life, I've never been on a ship. Well, except that little one that goes around Staten Island in NY.
DGS's stomach virus turned out to be strep throat and a penicillin shot worked its wonders. We went to DD's today and I'll go back tomorrow to spend the day with her. DGS#2's getting sick now and DIL doesn't feel well either. We were to keep both their boys Wednesday night while they go to a concert out of town, but that's now pending. Fine by me if they don't go, since keeping both will be a challenge.
DH and I both love antiques and we just bought a "plantation desk", circa 1820. DH fell in love with it for itself, but I like it because it has a drop down top which, when closed, hides all his paper clutter! Or will, once he puts the paper clutter in it.
Hope the week is good for all, and hugs.
Kathy

Kathy, so glad that DGS tummy bug turned out to be something that an anti biotic can deal with. Having two little ones over night when they are not feeling well sure is a challenge. How is the new babe settling?
Your antique desk sounds lovely! We also love antiques, in fact that is why DH has his shop......to house his collection......a life times worth and he didn't quite know when to stop!........lol.
Well I'm back crocheting again as DD has decided she doesn't like the colour of the hearts I did before so I three days to complete another set........I'd best get to it!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
oh no Chrissy, a whole another set of hearts? Can you just dip them in dye? I always look for an easier way. LOL. This is turning into a real labor of love for you! But I know you would have it no other way.
sas, my DS is 28 and at some point some older woman, that he looked up to, told him to wait until he was 25 and then the women his age would wise up and come flocking around him. Well, it has not worked out that way (never mind he is busy with school still) and he thinks he is over the hill. LOL
Gotta run to PT.

Just when you think you couldn't be shocked by anything anymore... I had my first post-op appointment today with the surgeon who did the double mastectomy. He shared the pathology report. They got all the cancer and I will not need radiation or chemo. Great news. I had the mastectomy on the "good side" just so I would never have to worry. Well guess what? Pathology showed it did have cancer and in fact was a bit more advanced than in the side they knew about. (lobular vs ductal) The mammogram did not pick it up, the magnification mammogram didn't find it, and the MRI didn't see it. If I hadn't decided on the double mastectomy, I would have gone another year, had a routine mammogram on that side and perhaps it would have been too late. Still shocked.
-
well, that is a relief isn't it...
-
ooohhhh, sandra, sometimes we don't realize why we do something until it's over. Good looking out for yourself!
-
Sandra, does that near miss give you chills on your spine? You're not the first person on here who had that result. I'd say luck is on your side.
-
Wow Sandra! How lucky are you?! Well, for sure the decision to have the double was definitely the right one for you..........even better that you dont need chemo or rads either. Way to go woman!!!!!!
Today is a flat day........hate them........I think I have done waaaaay too much over the last week and the old adrenals are, for the moment, tapped out. Oh well, I guess another good sleep will put all that to rights and I will be back to my old self tomorrow.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Sandra,
That is shocking news! You must have an angel sitting on your shoulder. You have confirmed that fear in the back of my mind.
I have been worried about my other breast because mammograms for the past three years show my cancer but no radiologist read it as cancer. My breast started to feel like a hole had been scooped out of it so had diagnostic mammogram and they still did not read it as cancer. Then family doctor sent me for ultra sound and they finally thought an area looked suspicious and that was the beginning of my journey. Now my breast cancer surgeon expects that I should take her word that there is nothing going on in my other breast. When she did my lumpectomy for IDC she found another tumor next to that one that turned out to be DCIS. She asked why I'm so worried about my other breast and I told her because people make mistakes and she just smiled and said, "but nothing shows on the mammogram where something did show for three years on the other. It was just read wrong."
Am I being paranoid? -
Sandra, good for you!
Jo6202, You could always get a second opinion, if you haven't already.
-
Jo, after being dxd with BC there is always the possibility that it will be in the other breast and because of that we are all a little paranoid about its health. If you are really worried to the point that you can think of nothing else, by all means, take your scans and mammos and get a second opinion on the reading of them.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Jo, I can relate to your feelings. One of mine showed on the mammogram. The other was a total surprise. Thank God poor margins had BS go back. The surprise was a little larger and grade 2.

Big Girls Panties on Tour http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/34/topic/810757?page=1#idx_6
I am writing up my travels in the US and Canada and have a pair of big girls panties that I made and I am getting signed by people I meet.
So far it has been a wonderful trip.

Although I had cancer in one breast, I chose a bilateral mastectomy 2.5 wks ago. I got my pathology report yesterday. All the cancer was removed and nodes are all clear. Great news! No radiation or chemo necessary. Pathology on the "good" side was a shocker. They found cancer and it was a bit more advanced than the side they had previously identified. It was a total surprise. It did not show up on the mammogram or the MRI. Fortunately all the cancer was taken on that side as well and the nodes were clear. No rads, no chemo. If I had chosen to remove only one breast, which was recommended, I would have waited until next year for a routine mammogram on the remaining one. By then it might have been too late.
-
JO,
Run, don't walk, to another doctor for a second opinion. As I've just learned, you cannot rely on tests. You know in your heart what you need. Find someone who will listen.
-
Aly, love those Big Girl Panties!!
I woke up this morning and heard the sound of rain on my roof.........where has my beautiful spring weather disappeared to? It is back to middle winter and COLD! So much so that I think I will need to even light the fire tonight. This last week has been stunningly beautiful with clear blue skies, lovely warm sunshine and a gentle breeze to make sure we don't overheat........what I call perfect! It seems that Mother Nature is just making sure that we don't get too wrapped up in the pleasure of nice weather, enough that we forget that it still real early in the season.......sigh! And here was I thinking the warmth was here to stay.......sigh.
Hoping you all have a wonderful day!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
it was so hot this summer a woman put ice out in cups for the squirrels. This little guy decided it was a good place to take a nap.
-
What a sweet picture, Nancy! Love it.
Chrissy, sorry about your cold weather. Summer here is still in full swing but there's supposed to be a cool-down this weekend. Ready for it, too, with 90+F days.
We kept both DGS's overnight and until midday today. I now know why children are born to younger people. What a night! 4 year old was great, 8 month old was a challenge for both of us.
Tomorrow's Friday! Odd how one can be retired and still be excited by the weekend.
Hugs to all.
Kathy

Wonderful quote from DGS - Why you got boobs Granny? Because ladies all have them I say. DGS- you don't need them you not got a baby
Quote of the Day.
DGS - why you got boobs granny?
Me - Because ladies have boobs
DGS - You don't need then cause you don't have any babies. Anyway that one is funny (my foob) its all squishy.

Oh Aly! The first signs of growing up is awareness.........I would say he is definitely aware!........lol......such cute things these little ones say.
Hearts all done and delivered to the dress maker and today I finished the tulle ties for the chairs one last job to be done before I can concentrate on my outfit!............yay!!!!!!
Have a good one all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Hi all! After a sixteen hour sleep......yes you did read that right.....lol......I am feeling just fine after a busy two days in the city. Thought I would share with you all the pic of bride to be DD2 in all her toilet and butcher paper finery including a toilet paper rose bouquet. This is what we did to her at her hens afternoon tea last Saturday. The girl in the background laughing her head off is my other DD who will be the bridesmaid.
It was all the more funny as the bride to be is always so well dressed and has an inate sense of style.......luckily she surrendered to the fun of the day.
Hope you get a good giggle as well.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy:
It looks like so much fun and your daughters are beautiful like their mom. Now, tell me - is a hens tea like a bridal shower? I love that idea of decorating the bride with the toilet paper. I would love to do that but I guess I will have to wait for granddaughters' weddings. Unfortunately, although I hate to admit it, I do have two who are age appropriate for weddings.
Marianne
-
Marianna, yes a hens tea is the same as a bridal shower......lol....same beast different name. It is a tradition here that at the hens tea we form teams and 'dress' the bride. The trick is that we have only toilet paper and butchers paper, staples, sticky tape and glue to hold it all together. Its a whole lot of fun and gets everyone interacting as we design and make the outfit.
I was thinking that this particular DD was never going to marry and so was she but two years ago now she met her fiancé and the big day is now just twelve days away! She turned 40 at the beginning of April this year so don't give up!.......lol.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Chrissy, it looks like it was so much fun! And I can't believe it's only 2 weeks away. I can't wait to see pictures.
Leah
-
Chrissy, your daughters are beautiful like you. Looks like they were having lots of fun. Now, try to relax and enjoy the wedding!
-
I am so happy everyone is having such a wonderful time! Wish we could all join in the merriment!
-
Chrissy, your DD's are both beautiful! I'm glad everything's about done and I hope you can catch your breath before the wedding day. Hope too that your outfit won't be too hard to finish! I agree with Lisa and wish we could all be there!
Kathy
-
Chrissy, Me too!
-
Thanks girls on the compliment for my DD's.........I also think they are beautiful but I could be a little biased........lol.
I will share the day with you all by posting a heap of pics.......I wish you could all be here as well.
The outfit........well........if I don't get moving on it it certainly won't be done so I think there will be a few late nights coming up for the rest of the week........maybe I can get the skirt and top done then I can concentrate on the crocheted bit.
Have a good day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
