Wow, praying for all you ladies this weekend - seems like we're all ready for round 2. I don't go till Friday so have a few more days to feel good. I still have my hair (day 16 and counting) but had my sister cut it to chin length today so I have a bunch to try Sharon's hairband idea.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend and (if you're able and interested) can make it to church tomorrow. I know I'm sure looking forward to lots of hugs and caring from everybody - can't wait!

Martie...Yes to the vision problems! Not sure if it's because I have high blood sugar with the steroids. All I know is it's a lot harder to keep myself occupied with the tv as I can't focus too well.

Just took a short walk and I am worn out. Still feeling blown up from the steroids. I hate the fact that once again I got thrush in my mouth so even if I didn't have that yucky metal taste I have that to deal with. It's a bummer that everyone brings good meals to share when I can't enjoy them. I wish I had more room in the freezer to keep them frozen for when I could enjoy it too. Hoping to start feeling normal soon as it's now day 6 after chemo.

Lisa I ended up ordering a bluff when I checked the site out. My family and I have become big fans of the tv show survivor and it was fun to see they had them there.

I looked at the sites, but still can't quite figure out what a buff is. Dos it cover your whole head?

While we are on the topic of head coverings, just a shout out to Surburban Turbans - I bit the bullet and ordered two of their caps (Lizzie and Carrie) and just adore them! Yes, they are very pricey, and they are coming from the UK, but I wanted to try them because I just find their styles to be so darn cute and not screaming "chemo." I ended up receiving mine in five days - not too shabby!! The quality is amazing, the material is so soft and stretchy, I'm glad I made the purchase. I have amassed quite a collection of scarves and caps (several free!) which is interesting since pre-dx I owned one hat and wore it once every several years. Between my wigs and head coverings, I'm learning I don't miss my hair as much as I thought I would (don't get me wrong, I still wish I had my hair, but the loss is definitely manageable).

Anyways here's the Surburban Turbans link if anyone is interested: http://www.suburbanturban.co.uk/

Hello!  I have off the forum for a day or so.  Over the last few days I've wrapped about 50 bars of soap.  I was up until about 11:30 last night making Herbal Fleur Salt Soak, Lemon + Rosemary Salt Soak, Coffee Sugar Scrub, natural deodorant + ultra moisturizing lip balm.  Oh yeah, I had to create the labels and packaging, too.  This morning I was up at 6:30 and made Ahhmazing Body Oil.

Today I vendored at an Lupus Event.  I left home about 10:30a and just came in 6:20p.  If feel terrific but could use a nap.

At the event someone asked if I could make them private label products.  I've never done this before and am not really sure how it works.

I am trying to catch up on all the missed posts, but like a few have pointed out . . . we are such a busy group.

Congrats to all who have slept more than 2 hours at a time!

    I can't worry about sleeping tonight . . . I'm taking a nap now!!!

SaltyJack, tomorrow afternoon, I am going to try a hairband with glue that is very strong and clear. That might be easier. I will have to put a small bead on and drop the hair on it or I'll have hair glued to my fingers. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am claiming a good week next week after my second chemo. I will not call into being any SE's. I will not have a headache or nausea. It will be a great week. I have to do that because SaltyJack will have her second chemo three days later and I have to set the trend.

God bless you folks here on the thread. Have a great evening.

So much for my nap; it was less than 2 hours.  I guess I wasn't as tired as I thought.

I have been having cramps or spasms in my left foot + in my butt.  I wonder if its from the Neulasta shot I got 2 weeks ago.

I love fall weather but it is freezing in my house.

I've been invited to the Annual Breast Cancer Surviors Banquet at Saint Barnabas Hospital tomorrow.  I hope the food is good!  I think I'll get my own invitation next year.

Martie: Yes, I have had vision problems, my eyes have been very weepy but my prescription glasses don't feel like they are even my glasses and I don't know if its wise to get new glasses now or if this will correct itself after chemo. My first 8 days after infusion my eyesight kind of jumps all over the place when i'm trying to read. So yes definately eye problems.

    Love, Rayna

Hello ladies...I am up North visiting my folks for awhile before my next treatment.  I am not able to spend a lot of time online but I am reading and checking in.  I noticed after my first chemo my vision was much blurrier.  It seems to be getting a little better and Praise God at 12 days I feel almost 100 % phyically better, but still facing some emtional issues I need to get worked out.  I am thinking about talking with someone maybe a life coach or something..has anyone here opted to do this?  Wishing you all the best sending healing thoughts and prayers your way...M

    HVV yay for completing AC!!!!

Lovewins - I felt the best on days 12-14 too... almost 100%. Just in time to start all over again since I'm doing dose dense.

Well, day 4 after TX #2 and I'm feeling pretty good. Good enough that I'm able to go to Dallas to see my son play football in Cowboys Stadium. I'm so happy I don't have to miss it. We are on our way now (3 hr drive each way).

Hello everyone. I have been reading but not posting much. To get up to speed: I love the comments about the rain on a bald head...."raindrops keep falling on my head!" We shaved my head last night, I imaging the hair will start coming out over the next few days. I figured I would start the work week fresh with a "new do." I will definitely look into the t-shirt cap/wrap idea. I also saw that online yesterday. I spent the afternoon sewing scarves. I figured that I can make the scarves for a whole lot less than buying them. They may not look quite as nice but I can have a lot of fun with them. Got some Steeler fabric, and asked my brother to send me some Patriots fabric too (I am a closet Patriots fan living in the middle of Steeler country). Found some pretty prints too to coordinate with the things I wear most often. To the vision comments: I also have noticed vision changes. For the first few days after my chemo my eyes would ache when I got up in the night. Felt like they had been dried out by a blow torch. In the past few days I have noticed a change in my vision. I am past due for an eye exam but at this point I will wait until all the chemo is done in case it does make visual changes. Even with insurance, glasses are too expensive to get "temporary" ones!

I am day 10 after my first treatment of A/C. I would not say that it was fun, but it was not as bad as I had anticipated. A little nausea, but I never felt the need to take anything other than the pre-meds they had given me with the chemo. Mostly fatigue. I felt like I was run over by a train. Achy all over but non-specific. A little cranky from the steroids (how much are you all getting? I don't feel like I got that much: Decadron 4 mg twice a day for three days after the treatment, plus the 12 mg they gave me with the treatment). Sleep has been precious and sparse...last night was the first night I slept more than 4 hours consecutively (of course it could have been the wine that went with the head shaving party!). I get my CBC checked tomorrow to see how my counts are doing, and then the next round is on 9/26. I will be going in right before the treatment to get a medi-port "installed." Kind of surprised that they would do it the same day, but that's modern medical insurance for you...whatever they can do to minimize costs, right?

Peace and hugs to all of you. It's a beautiful day here in western Pennsylvania. We are heading up tothe river and our boat for the afternoon (I haven't seen her in three weeks...and we used to nearly live there!). Keep up the good fight!

    Martha

Cougar-those turbans/hats on that site are so cute! If I had not already spent so much money on headgear I would probably order. Who knows-maybe for Christmas. They could be worn with hair. They remind me of the 1920s.

It's Day 4 after treatment 3. I am surprised that it has not been worse. I have been swishing with Sharon's peroxide/water mix and my mouth does not feel quite as bad. I do have a little more aches and pains, but my head is better. The constipation is a little worse.

I hope everyone has a great finish to the weekend. God bless.

Tanya, I didn't know about that peroxide rinse until after my tongue turned white and my mouth was sore. I found it online and it works better than the magic mouthwash. I think the magic mouthwash is good for pain after it is sore. On Tuesday, after my second chemo, I am going to use the peroxide before it gets sore.

Cougar, I'm going to check out that site, too.

I made my hairband to wear under my hats. It is working well. I had to use the curling iron on the hair and cut it after I put it on, but I really like it. It looks like I have some hair around my face. It is my real hair, it's must not attached to my head!!!

God bless everyone. Have a good week.

Sharonanne: You are ingenious, truly. I love the hair band idea, I only wish I had done that myself. Particularly when I had long hair in May when I was first diagnosed.

Oh well. I actually enjoy my wigs now, oddly enough. I get a lot of compliments on my 'hair' particularly when I wear the punky one. Last night I got four compliments (all from people under 30), which shows what a wig with blue, pink and purple in the back can do for you. :)

Martha, good to hear from you again. V, congrats on finishing A/C. FMG, you have been busy! Tanya, glad things aren't too bad. Everyone, wish I could get to you all but it's amazing how many of us there are now.

Thanks all for the Buff compliments. Martie, a Buff is basically a tube of stretchy cotton knit that can be worn lots of different ways. They are the official 'Survivor' TV show outfitter. Mankato, my husband just ordered me the Survivor China Buff, which can be my official 'I am a survivor and kicked cancer's butt' cap. Woot!

Cougar, looking forward to seeing that site. Sounds great!

Cougar - LOVE that site!!! Now we just need Sharon to figure out a pattern so we can make them cheaper! ;)

Flu shots: My MO said to wait until chemo finished.

Glad to know I'm not having a stroke or something with my eyes!

Lighthouse: I'm like you in that days 12-14 are wonderful, then it starts again! One more AC!!! I'm not sure the Taxol/Herceptin will be much better from what it sounds like with the steroids (though I really would like to have a little of Sharon's energy)! SO happy you got to go see your son play! Awesome experience for all of you!

Haven't had a chance to read everything, but wanted to comment on the mouth stuff. I chewed ice during my infusion this time and my mouth is SO much better! After my first treatment my taste buds went wacko, my tongue was white and I had the overall "yuck" mouth for over a week. This time I have a little bit of a bad taste, especially after I eat, but it is way better.

You ladies are great. I'm definitely going to chew the ice, lighthouse lady, and be ready with the peroxide rinse. Love all the ideas for head coverings. I'm not even ready to walk around the house without something on, much less go out - so I'll probably be trying all of them.

Martie, it looks like we're on the same tx plan (except I'll have surgery after chemo) - but I'm impressed you already have all the dates. I'm just having my second of four A/C this week - you're well on your way. Yay!

Have a great week, all! One day at a time....

Watch out, Martie, tomorrow is my steroid day. I have lots of jobs laid out to do. Send me your laundry. I'll wash, dry, an fold it and send it airmail to your door.

I checked out the turban website and saw a wrap that I copied with a black T-shirt. I put the bottom hem around my head and pinched it in the back, then sewed it there. I put it back on my head, twisted the rest of the shirt around my head and down one side and tucked the end under the edge by my ear. It looked like a black turban with a black fabric rose. My husband said he liked it. Actually, it looks better than some of the hats I made. Check it out. I think it was $45 but I made if for free.

Have a good week everyone. Don't have any SE's to speak of. God bless all of you. I'm still praying.

I feel like I've been on steroids over the last few days.  Today I created + published my blog (http://blog.jlexi.co), recorded my sales from yesterday, updated my facebook page with about 10 items, send a tweet or two, started reading a new book, "Fit, Fine + Fabulous"; I'm on chapter 3.

I feel like I've been going non-stop since Thursday; good thing I feel fantastic!  I'm about to take a Melatonin in hopes of a solid, peace-filled sleep.

I was invited to attend a Survivors Lunch sporsored by Saint Barnabus Hospital.  After I showered, dressed + was applying my makeup, I noticed a voice mail.  The woman who invited me said she had a stomach ache and would not be able to attend.  I was disappointed, I was looking forward to having a fabulous lunch (prepared by somebody else + served to me) + hear stories from survivors of breast cancer.  Next year, I'll get my own invitation!!!

Tomorrow morning I'll be back with declarations.  Let's come up with some great, positive + encouraging decrees for ourselves, our sisters + our families!!!

I hope you all are replenished as you slumber 2night!

I stand on the Word of God + Believe His Promises.

I made it known to God that my heart's desire was to keep my hair, brows + lashes.  I knew without a shadow of doubt that God could allow me to keep my hair.  I just knew He was going to do that for me.

I want to share a story with you on the power of God.

A few weeks ago I went to a restaurant, I was invited by a woman that goes to my church (it's her restaurant).  At the desk was a man (the woman's father).  I overheard him saying that his finger tips were bandaged because due to chemo his nails cracked down the middle with his skin still attached to his nails.

I looked at this man in total shock and almost fell off my chair!  Because of the man's appearance I had to hear the entire story.  So to get the conversation starte, I asked if he cut his fingers while helping his daughter cook.  He said, "no, I just finished 6 months of chemo" then he reiterated what happened to his nails.  THIS MAN NOT ONLY HAD A FULL HEAD OF HAIR, HE HAD EYEBROWS, LASHES, A MUSTACHE + A FULL BEARD!!! He said that everyone, including the doctors were suprised that he did not lose any hair!  He didn't even experience thinning or shedding!?!?!?

I went to the restaurant NOT for food.  I went so that God could show me first hand that He can allow someone with chemo to keep all their hair.  He wanted me to see for myself that HE can do all things + that I was right to trust + believe Him.

He also revealed to me that keeping my hair should not be my heart's desire + that my request was vanity, small + that I was praying amiss.  He gave me the definition of a "heart's desire" and told me that I need to desire bigger, like having every cancer cell killed + not having a recurrance, or receiving total + complete healing + restoration. . . that's more of a heart's desire!

He also revealed to me that if He allowed me to keep my hair that He would not get ALL the glory because I would think my handmade products (that I still apply everyday) were so great and because of them, I kept my hair!!!

After this revelation, I released + surrendered my hair, lashes + brows!  Don't get me wrong, I want to keep my lashes, brows + the 15% or so hair left on my head, but I'm OK if I don't.

God is soooo good!  Thank you God for revealing your TRUTH to me.

I hope this story inspires someone to Believe in God!

Wow, FMGD, you're a perfect illustration of a principle I learned in our last Bible study - in fact, I think I already said it in an earlier post but it's so perfect now, I can't resist saying it again. :)

Priscilla Shirer, in our study of Jonah, said it's fine to pray and ask God for what we want....but we might want to always add "or, God, please give me something even better." God has so much in store for us that's so far beyond our wildest imagination - He may not give us what we're asking for but it will be soooo much better for us than we could ever have prayed for!

I join you in standing on the Word of God and His promises.  He knows what He has planned for us...to give us a hope and a future.  (see Jeremiah 29:11). God's voice thunders in marvelous ways. He does mighty things beyond our understanding. (Job 37:5).

Hi Ladies...sorry I haven't been on, it's been a rough week emotionally. I changed my avatar to show my bald head!!! I'm actually kind of liking it, but it's been cold here so I definitely need to get some more warm hats. I start my 3rd A/C tx wednesday, not looking forward to it, I have been feeling good for a few days and I know what's ahead :(.

I hope all of you do well with your next tx's. Much love and support being sent to you!!
