Meece, I love your story about Patch...I miss my little ones so much.  I wonder every day how the older one is doing in school...if she made friends or had a play date yet...

Sheila, where is your daughter living?  You must be feeling pretty happy about this.

Chris, such a sweet story about your son lying with his grandmother....kids are a lot of work but when they do the right thing, it is a precious moment.

    (((FireKracker))) thinking of you.

Work tomorrow...am subbing for one of the guys at 8 AM.  Today was very long...
It is DD#3's anniversary.  I sent phone, facebook and txt messages but she didn't respond.  I know she's not happy.

    nite all

♥♥♥♥♥ So much love coming your way, Sheila. Being a Grandma is the best thing in my life. I still remember holding my first grandchild (little Miss M) for the very first time. I cried.... My heart was so full of love..... the emotions just flowed. When they see you & call out, "Grandma!" & those little arms surround your neck. And you hold them & they don't want to let go ........... well, believe me, there is nothing better. ♥♥♥♥♥ (I will PM you tomorrow, getting late here.)

    Sending love to all of you. {{Joan, Chris, Deb, Meecie, Scottie, ducky, veggy}}

Sandy, are you okay? I (we) miss you! ♥

My dear sister, K ~ Sending huge hugs & tons of ♥.

All this grandma talk got me thinking about my kids and the time they spent with my parents when they were little and things they did.  My parents bought a little bag of "instruments" - a tambourine, kazoos, and maybe some kind of drum - don't remember.  They used to march around the house with the kids playing those instruments - I think my father "played" the kazoo and the kids(and my mother?)  played the percussion.  Or maybe they tried to play along on kazoo (don't remember)  I wonder if I have any video.  That would be a funny clip since both kids do marching band now (one in the 300+ member UConn marching band).  I could caption it - "Where they got their start..."  or something like that.  If only our video were organized...

Joan-sorry about DD#3- hope you hear from her soon.  And get a report on how the little ones are doing.  With all this technology, when they get a little older, they can keep in touch with you themselves online - kids are quite savvy.

I need to go order DS's senior pix.  I wasn't thrilled with them. His hair was kind of messy so it stood out in pix with a light background.  He doesn't like to smile with his teeth showing (glad I spent that $6000 on orthodontia...) so 1/2 the pix have no teeth showing - I want one with teeth.  (his yearbook pic with be one without teeth)  A couple have poses that are sub-optimal.  One shot where I think he looks really good, the photographer has him lying on his side up on his elbow.  He doesn't like that one because it's a "seductive" pose. In a couple others, he's leaning forward, but it's only head and shoulders so he looks like he's peeking into the picture from the side.  Unfortunately, one of those is the one where I think he looks best.  I asked if they could rotate it and recrop it - like if there was more in the picture but it was cropped, if they rotated it, he might look like he's sitting more upright, just turned to the side a little.  When the lady called back last week, I was at work and DH spoke to her.  She said yes - $21 to rotate, $5 to crop.  So I went the next day to place my order - a little afraid of the pic coming out looking weird (you can't always just rotate a pic and have it look normal).  then they told me they couldn't rotate it, that pic wasn't cropped - they would have to rebuild his back. Well, I already wasn't prepared because I wasn't sure what pix I wanted for a 4-pic frame thing I was going to order (to go with one I got for DD 2 yrs ago) and now I didn't know what to order for the 8x10 and 5x7's, etc.  So I got upset and told the girl they need to tell whoever told us they COULD do it that they can't do that.  I said now i don't know what I want to order, got teary, said I wasn't happy, scooped up the proof booklet and my papers and walked out.  Then I went to my car and cried (because I'm an anxiety-ridden mess and can't deal with life)  then I called DH and told him what happened and asked about what they had said.  I also asked HIM to call them about what they told him.  don't think he ever did that.  So I go back today to place an order for sub-optimal pictures.  and spend beaucoup bucks doing so.  Senior pictures is a racket.

AND on top of that - my parents don't even have DD's senior picture out!  My father put her marching band pic on top of the senior pic.  Well, the senior pic isn't current, he said... (I bet they have my senior pic somewhere - THAT certainly isn't current...)  I'll have to get them a couple more frames...Her pic was a really nice pic of her.  The band pic was just extra. And no, they can't do what they want with the pix I give them.  They have to do what I want - lol.  they probably wouldn't mind separate frames if I brought them.  And yes, they should decorate their house with pix of my kids.  lol

Ordered the pictures.  Not happy - BUT in expressing my unhappiness, they are giving me free retouching of pix that they don't ordinarily retouch.  I had ordered a 4-picture frame 2 yrs ago with DD.  I liked the "old" style frame more than the new one and ordered that not having the foresight to think maybe I might like a matching one in 2 years with DS.  Duh.  So a couple months after I ordered/got it, I called and asked if I could buy just the frame for future use.  They checked and said the other studio had one. i said I wanted it.  They never called to say it was in.  And of course, because I am a loser/mental case, I never called about it either.  Fast forward 2 yrs to getting DS's pix done - they say I can still have the frame. Yay!  So I go to actually order it - and guess what - they don't have any and have to special order it and it will cost $30 extra dollars.  NOT Yay.  AND the pix in it are not retouched and DS was sporting a zit on his chin that we would have liked retouched.  I didn't realize DD's pix weren't retouched in that frame.  I had paid extra for extra retouching for the 8x10 and it didn't look any different than the pic in the 4-pic frame.  Guess she did a good job with her makeup.  But DS doesn't wear makeup so I was relying on retouching...

So after the run-around about the frame, and them telling DH that they could rotate and crop another pic that I wanted and then telling me they can't, AND after I called to find out when I had to place the order by to make sure his pic gets in the yearbook and getting a different answer than what they told DH when he called not realizing I called (luckily the truth was the later date) - I complained and they are giving me free retouching on the 4-frame pix.

Ugh.  I am so glad I don't have to go through that again...

So, I stopped at McDonald's - because I want to lose weight so I might not be as fat if I go to homecoming.  I was going to order a large shake - then I saw a medium shake is 719 calories!!!!!  I mean I know this stuff is bad and has lots of calories, but yikes.  So - I didn't get the shake :(

DIL told me today that she isn't quite sure what Patch is asking or saying but lately he has been adding Granmar to his nightly prayers or even his morning ones.  I feel so loved.  Only about 10 more hours and I will be snuggling my little dolls.

Then at 11 I must go to my Neurologist for a nerve conductivity test.  Yuk!

Hi Sandy, so glad you checked in...missed you. I too wish your docs would figure out why you have the fluid...I hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you to have it removed.  Glad you are getting a chemo break.

Meece, how sweet that you will soon have your little ones to hug. And I hope your test goes well. Maybe you'll get a clue...

Well, DD did call me and things are ok there...they will celebrate their 9th anniversary on the week end.  Then she told me they are taking Charlotte (5) to Disney for her BD...meeting their old friends and kids there too.  I had been expecting to be invited since I missed last year's trip due to illness.  Instead, she asked me to stay in MA with Caroline (3).  I was blindsided...i told her I wanted to go and would take care of Caroline there...but DD said "you can come but we are nOT bring her."  So now i decide if I can make the 5 hour trip to watch them all go off to Disney...

After giving up my summer, beach and travel plans to help them move, I was feeling hurt but was at work and had to get over it.  I will decide if I can babysit, and then I need to start planning my own life again...it just isn't the way I hoped.

    Hugs to all...
    J

{{{Joan}}} I can feel your frustration.  Sometimes our offspring can be so selfish.

We are trying to get "everyone" to host a dinner while DS1 and his family are here, DS3 was the last to get a day, so he told me he didn't think he could show up at DS2s because there isn't much room at his apartment. Geesh the apartment was big enough when he hosted DS3s bachelor party (even though DS2 wan't the best man!) KIDS!!!

Only about 2 hours and 15 minutes and I will have my arms full!

Really nervous about the EMG test.  It involves multiple needle electrodes.

Sorry about the trip, Joan.  I hope you can make the trip to take care of Caroline so you can not be at Disney together... :(

Hope the test goes smoothly, Meece and you thoroughly enjoy the little ones between now and then (I know you will.)

Well, I got 2 out of 3 things done that I needed to get done this week.  66.6% - that's a D...  oh well.  I would say maybe next time, but DS is a senior so I won't be screwing this up again - thankfully.  Was supposed to try to get the orthodontist and dentist to advertise in the program for the band show.  Procrastinated and asked last minute.  Orthodontist did it right away - didn't hear back from Dentist.  Oh well.

    How are you feeling Sheila?

How are things going with your friend, Diane?

Sorry I haven't written - still fighting that cold!  Well my friend, my very depressed friend for years, is now even more depressed.  She didn't go to her appointment because she doesn't want to know.  No amount of begging could change her mind and so I am hoping when her sister gets home Monday night, she can have an influence.  The not knowing is stressing me out more than her....go figure.

Tonight I am at home and DH is at the cabin with a lot of our friends to go see Jim Belushi - it should be a great show.  I could have gone but I knew that if I did, I would lose my getting better momentum.

Sheila - so happy for you to become a grandmother and to go to Hawaii again.

Sandy - it was good to see you on here but damn they are taking forever to figure out the breathing.

Chris - repeat after me - "I am a great mom and a capable person".  You just do so much more than the rest.

Linda - are you supposed to be hanging out in the dorm? :)

Deb - I saw your photo - you look great!  I'm glad you are getting time to visit.

Meece - just a little jealous that your babies are coming - my cravings are huge.  Our new little one looks so different every week on skype.  My dear Shelby feels less and less connected to me because it's been so long.

Joan - I know what you are feeling and it just sucks.  I feel the loss of regular contact constantly.  As for your DD, I hope she finds her way in terms of marriage and life balance soon.  She is going to miss you more than you can imagine.

Ducky -glad your place is ok....

Meece, hope the visit is just what you need in the midst of tests...funny how our family members pick and choose what they want to do or who they want to be from time to time.   Your test doesn't sound like a fun time at all...but glad to hear Ducky didn't think it was so bad.

    Thanks, Sheila...

Chris, 67% is 2 out of 3...awesome in my book.  Hey, baseball players get millions when they hit .300 and that' only 3 out of 10.  You run circles around most moms....go easy on yourself because I am very much like you and I'm not so bad Laughing

Diane, my gosh you have been sick for a long time...please feel better.  It is so hard to imagine that your Shelby is somewhat disconnected...I know it is happening for me too.  Is there a grandmothers anonymous group for us???  I wish you could arrange more frequent visits.  I can go almost any time but I don't have much time while working.

FireKracker, I'm heading your way soon...I can seat 6 besides me so anyone who wants to jump on the magic bus...we'll rendezvous!  We can probably rent a little vacation home for a few bucks...and have a girls sleepover.

Thanks for listening...am feeling better...I just have to make my own plans so I don't feel this void at times.  Maybe this is happening for a reason so I snap out of my melancholy state and start being more practical.

Happy week end, and enjoy the cooler, fall-like weather in the NE if you are here.

Now don't you spread rumors that I do a lot.  I really don't do much of anything - especially anymore.  Fretting, maybe, but nothing substantive.

Oh and this morning (or should I say middle of the night - that's when I think of things - when I can't do anything about them AND it's usually the middle of the night AFTER I was supposed to do something!) I realized we didn't do OUR family ad for the program!!!!  Frack.  Of course, could the father, the computer scientist who spends hours f-ing with pictures on the computer - use his knowledge of what pix we have of DS (including who knows how many from Scouting) to put a few pix together for a family ad BEFORE the deadline?  Of course not.  If I don't think of it and push to coordinate with him to get anything done, it doesn't get done.  He put it together in about 5 minutes this morning - JUST IN CASE - we could submit it after the last minute.  It's a good thing DS is a senior and we don't have more kids...   So - I accomplished 2 of 4 things... that's 50% - down to an unsurprising, big, fat  F.

Now - what are the chances I will remember to pick up DD's jacket from the tailor today? (armpit split open)

Hope you ladies can get together soon!

I'm going to crawl back under my rock now.

Hope those in the east who like the cooler weather have a chance to get outside today!
