Would like to find out about the various knee problems some of us have and what can be done about it. The orthos don't want to suggest exercises, and I can't do any more therapy sessions this year (per insurance) The docs also don't tell us much and I literally have to chase them down the hall to get my questions answered. They are all so busy - had to wait over an hour yesterday to get seen.

I recently found out I have bone-on-bone and also a fracture, large meniscus tear, baker's cyst, lots of arthritis, etc. But not ready for a knee replacement yet. Doc suggests "scoping" to get rid of bone chips. But how often would this need to be done?  Had a cortisone shot yesterday, it was NOT painful, hope that will work for awhile.

Need suggestions, advice, etc.  Thanks!

Dogandjogs, I have the same problem and had a total knee replacement last year and the other will be done next year. I had an arthroscopy about eighteen months before I had replacement and according to my ortho that's about average. The secon knee was arthrocopied at the same time but has lasted almost two and a half years but it is now growing more spurs and becoming quite difficult to deal with.

I take on a regular basis, like every day, Panadol osteo........which is 665mg of paracetamol, up to six in a day. These keep me moving reasonably well as long as they are taken everyday.

Have your docs told you you are not ready for knee replacement or are those your thoughts? It is a big operation and a very painful one but so worth it once you are through the healing process.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

My problems weren't as serious as yours - mostly cumulative 5 years of Arimidex, old knee injury, age related osteoarthritis.  I had physical therapy - did the exercises several times a day - quad strengthening. Are you still doing the exercises physical therapist gave you.The key for me was, and still is, acupuncture.  Known to reduce inflammation, eg osteoarthritis, and faithfully doing those quad building exercises.

Bone on bone is so excruciatingly painful, I can't imagine.  Baker's cyst - a friend who had one was in emergency room in hospital, that painful.  Can't imagine how you are able to deal with ALL these. There are many supplements that "suggest" cartilage building properties, but don't know particulars.

All this on top of bc - this sounds like a call for miracles - really, hope you find something which works.

Been on Anastrozole for about 6 weeks and have developed knee pain from old tendon injury (year and a half ago).  It has been about 4 months since I got my last cortisone shot for the pain.  Has anyone had any luck with knee pain after treatment with cortisone while taking hormone treatment meds?  I'm going to try it anyway, but thought I'd throw it out there for help and/or advice.  Now my right leg is swollen and 1-1/2" larger than left.  Am seeing internist Monday because oncologist said (swelling) its not cancer related.  We'll see.
