litsmyjob: I am soooo sorry for your loss, I can't imagine the pain you must feel and then to be diagnosed with IBC had to be horrible. I think I would feel that same as you but if I can offer some words, You do still have another son and a husband who are greiving as well and they NEED you more than you know, can you imagine if you didn't fight this and they had to lose you as well. I don't think you could live with that. You have every right to feel angry, sounds like you are going throught the Stages of Grief and have come to acceptance of what you must do. Ask anything and we will try to be here for you as best we can, even just so you have someone to hear you rant, all emotions are welcome here and no one judges. So stay strong when you can and when you can't go easy on yourself. You have so much on your plate right now. I will say a prayer for you right now.

    Love, Rayna

lisa Way to go with the picture of you bald, it looks good. I really don't mind going without something on my head, wearing a scarf even gives me a headache. So at home I am always without head gear. Well we are the first two to do this lets see who follows suit.

    Love..,Rayna

Lisa and Rayna, I love the new pics! I have yet to take a head nudie shot but I will. Itsmyjob, welcome and love that you went bare to work. Way to own it!

I have decided I look horrible in scarves. I will be happy to pass along the 2 I purchased on to someone else so please pm me if you are rocking that type of headgear. I ordered a couple of hats from a sporting goods website, the cancer site hats are just too depressing for me.

Saltyjack, we are on a slightly different treatment plan than most because of the triple positive - I go every 3 wks too.

Going for tx2 tomorrow. Just realized I screwded up and only took half my steroid dose today. Good news is I will sleep better tonight but it may make the se's worse. I'll get it right tomorrow.

Looking forward to getting caught up on all ur posts tomorrow!

    Hi CutieCool

I am scheduled to start my chemo on 9/20 doing dose-dense AC with Taxol every 2 weeks 4 sessions then after that start Taxol every 2 weeks 4 sessions. After chemo I start radiation and hormone therapy.

My BC was detected during my routine mammogram was 1.1 cm IDC grade 3, stage 1 and 2 nodes removed no cancer found. It's amazing at the percentage of tumors that go undetected during routine mammograms.

I haven't had my port done yet.

CutieCool I am scared to. Your emotional health is very important in your recovery. I find to be in control of whatever I can at this point is very helpful. My relationship with God has helped me tremendously. I don't know how I could get through this without prayer and my faith. I have a wonderful group of friends and family. I just try to deal with one thing at a time. What i find that works for me is I try to find something positive in every difficult situation - it will help you see things more clearly.

If you need someone to chat with I'm here for you. Be strong! And find your inner peace

    Hi CruiserMay

I see that we share the same diagnosis - how are things going for you with your treatments? Are you doing Dose-dense treatments? I would love to keep in contact with you through our journey.

I hope and pray that you are doing well and your spirits are up

Hello ladies, well it's day 2 of 2 nd treatment, I was excited that I felt good enough to drive my self to get the neulasta shot. I felt good and did some shopping. I felt some freedom. Yeah.. Though I think people were smiling at me because they felt sorry for me. No hair hat and big earrings. It gave me inventive to style my wigs and I'm going to see my hair dresser a bout making mr some bangs out of an old pony tail, Synthetic that I bought at Sally's salon a few years ago. I want to tape to a hat. I know I have 2 down 6 to go. I lobe reading all your stories and I pray for all of us that are going through this. Please keep the faith and know god is with us...

Love and prayers. Sweet dreams. Sue

Thank you to everyone for your kind words about my son, I know he's here with me, I still feel him, he knows I need him as well as his brother and dad.

Sue it seems you and I are on the same chemo trail, I too was on day 2 of 2nd with 6 more to go.  Had my neulasta shot and did a little shopping myself! :-)

I woke up feeling flushed, same as last time but its so concerning to know I have to worry about a temp and yet I feel flushed and feverish all day long, add in the summer temps and I feel like a hypochondriac taking my temp several times through the day.

I think I uploaded my pic correctly, now I need to work on getting my diagnosis and treatments together, I still refer to my meds as "the bone shot" or the "Z-one that stops nausea" or "the stuff that makes me feel like my downstairs is on fire" lol  Learning all this stuff is like being forced into a morbid hobby you hate and have no time for but you must do it, I just seem to have chose not to do it well.

I wish you all a peaceful day!

sgyukon, let your MO know that you did not take all the steriods; they will add more to your infusion.  On my first treatment I forgot to pick up the prescription and didn't take any steroids.

Cutie, sometimes control becomes frustrating . . . I AM learning to surrender control; that doesn't mean that I am sitting like a lame duck, though.

Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.  Proverbs 3, 5-6

My goodness. I had to scroll to the top to see if I were on the right page. So many lovely ladies changed their avitar. I was on last night and I can't believe how much catching up I have to do. I am waiting to run off to school to sub, so I don't have time to read everything right now, but I'll be back like the exterminator.

I'm wearing my wig today so I don't have to let the high schooloers see me two different ways. I don't want them to notice. They'll be touching my head and I do not want that. See you guys tonight. I'm feeling well and hopefully can make it through a workday w/o getting fatigues. I have an aide in the room, so that will help. I'll only have about 8 kids, since it's special ed.

Salty, I wouldn't have gone, but it was her first time and she was so nervous she asked me to hold her hand, how can I say no to that! Follow up appt will be without me, so..

Lisa, it's. Korean version of chicken noodle soup. In Korea the summers are overbearingly hot and humid, so nobody wants to eat anything. Our ancestors came up with this soup made from beef bones, beef, internal organs, tongue, ... to give people energy, especially sick/ elderly during these hit summers and very cold winters. The reason I ate the tongue is because it is the least greasy of all the other meats. They boil all the bones and meats for days, til it is so tender even a baby can eat it without chewing. I need all the protein and nutrients I can get during chemo, so it was perfect for me. I know the thought of it sounds nasty, but u should try it, you'll be hooked!

lovewins, You should download VIKI, they have movies too! With subtitles! I loved Gu Family Book. Korean dramas and food go hand in hand, my husband was watching a show and they were having pigs feet BBQ, he went out and bought some to enjoy while watching it, he's so funny. The actors make the food seem even tastier, don't they?

Today is my 50th Birthday!  Happy Birthday to me!

I am usually very low key about my birthday; however, I AM so grateful + overjoyed + happy to be here to experience it that I'm shouting it from the rooftop!

I've decided to throw myself a huge 51st Birthday Bash next year . . . the theme will be The Celebration of Life.  My sister-in-law is starting to look for a venue.

If your are taking steroids, read this! This is a post from one of my friends on Nov2011 chemo thread. To explain why I went ballistic yesterday from hunger. Very interesting and true.

Julie, This sounds like it may be a symptom of steroid psychosis (sometimes referred to as roid rage). That's why I said earlier, I was glad they were cutting your steroids slowly. Maybe its not slow enough. That's what happened to me. I cried and acted totally irrational for weeks. Plus, you're getting carboplatin, which crosses the blood brain barrier, which is great to fight the cancer, but it messes with some brain cells too. And you're getting brain radiation. A triple whamy. It is not your fault you reacted this way. It is medical induced and a side effect of your treatments. If you have this kind of side effect you can no more control it than you can nausea when it's a side effect. I'm sure once your family knows this, they'll be more understanding. And you'll feel better knowing this is not your fault and temporary. My doctor put me on amitriptyline, which according to the information I research is the wrong kind of antidepressant for this kind of reaction. Here's a link that explains it better: (paragraph 3 has some of the symptoms and a treatment that has helped others) Keep fighting those cancer cells. You're doing great.

    Here's his NCBI abstract:

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/438794

It's old information but still applicable.

Wow Julie, I forgot about the steroids and what they do. They most certainly do the same to me, I have had the reaction before. My tantrum yesterday was steroid induced too. i absolutely believe it. That 'roid rage' (a well-known SE to body builders and sports people) hits like an unreasoning flash, which happened yesterday. It is unusual for me to be so angry, so fast.

Thank you very much for this I have to watch out and let the MO know when I see them Friday for the blood check. And watch out for this in the future! Yeesh.

Happy Birthday FMG! How lovely to think of a celebration party next year. I want to do that now for when I'm declared disease free. Won't that be grand! I think a Survivor theme (just like the TV show) would be cool.

And Julie, Rayna and everyone au natural, you all look great! We're rocking the bald, as my daughter would say.

Julie, I was joking, albeit badly. :) I have heard tongue is a lovely meat. I have certainly eaten my share of the different; crickets, snails, dried squid, sushi, beef tendon, rabbit, venison and weirdly, green pea Popsicles when I was in China. Just did not have any of the bugs I saw when I was there (on the menu).

Love to join you sometime for Korean BBQ. :)

Julie...I will try again at vikki now that my laptop is updated.  The very first Korean drama I watched was Gormet Chef's.  My favorite ones are the ones with food.  My baker King, Kimchi Family both were very good.  Yeah I couldn't watch without subtitles but I am learning a little of Korean.  LOL.
