Kathy, I hope all goes well with your daughter - and your new grandchild!

So now I'm sitting here in biting-the-fingernails mode. I had a CT yesterday, we're going to see if Afinitor/Aromasin is working. I know, scans don't change the situation, they reveal the situation. There, Leah, don't you feel better knowing that? Nope.

Leah sitting here with everything crossed that can be crossed that your scans reveal only good news! Sometimes it's hard........we really want to know but not.....you know what I mean............

Don't chew your nails as it only makes your fingers sore and who needs sore fingers to add to the problems.

QCA, I've always thought the baby waits until the mother thinks "I'd do anything not to be pregnant any more."

Leah, Hope your scans contain good news only.

Anna Kathleen is here!  6 lbs, 12 oz, 20 inches long.  Born tonight at 6:30 pm, and beautiful, beautiful.  I posted a picture on FB but am too tired and keyed up to post one here tonight.  DD did great, and I have nothing but praise for epidurals!!  Thanks to all of you for all the comments and good wishes--I was a wreck but am on air now!

Leah, thinking of you and hope your scans are fine.

    Happy happy Monday to all!

Congratulation Grandma! Yay! For the safe arrival of Anna. Get some rest as I know you are needing it.

Leah, any news on you scan results? Still hanging with you waiting.

I am so frustrated, I finally got to building my kitchen cupboard yesterday and by the time I was done my arms were giving me so much pain I didn't quite know what to do with them. I am so used to just getting things done but this dang cancer has managed to slow me down to a snails crawl! Very annoying! Oh well, I guess I shouldn't complain, I'm still here and still breathing so I guess that's a good thing.

    Have a great day all.

Isn't a shame they can't give us an epidural to get through this cancer stuff?  With all the sewing you have been doing it isn't suprising that your arms are tired.  But, I do know what you mean about doing things pre-C and now.

By the way, my meeting with the second opinion doc yesterday was such a nice appointment.  Her plan of treatment is so different from what my oncologist is suggesting that I am wondering what his reaction will be.  Unfortunately, because of my insurance I must continue with him.

Marianne, my arms were painful because I have mets in one with some rads induced lymphadema and lymphadema in the other. I have always been the driving force with getting things built or made in my household as my DH is definitely not a handy man and I learnt well from my father when I was growing up.........if something needed fixing or a tap was leaking or a room needed painting I just got what I needed and did it. Cancer has knocked that right on the head and I have difficulty doing most of that now and strength in my arms is a real issue. I just get a little, no a lot ticked off every now and then as there are so many things that now need doing and there is no one to do them.

I love your idea of an epidural to get through all this crap!......lol.......wonder if we can con some big drug company into inventing something like that.

What a shame you can't go with your second opinion onc as she sounds like a good fit for you. Could you discuss with your other onc her suggestions for treatment and perhaps combine the two so you both are happy? Just a thought.

I was going to have an early night but here it is after midnight again and I'm now wide awake! At eight PM I was falling asleep in my chair and forcing myself to stay awake.......maybe I should have just gone to sleep and be done with it.......lol. I got a nice surprise for my hip pocket today, I went to the pharmacy to renew all of my prescriptions and found that I have already reached my cap for the year so half of what I got today was free as will be all my meds for the rest of the year......yay!

I'm going to make a cup of tea then try to get some sleep. Have a great day girls!

    Chrissy,

I am in the exact opposite situation than you - last month I reached the maximum that I am allowed in prescription drugs so now the burden is on me.  I take injectible insulin which is so darn expensive so that won't be covered for the rest of this year.  I still don't know how I am going to manage cancer drugs.  With all of the mental problems associated with this lousy disease I really can't deal with financial ones.  Now I just have to decide whether to buy the drugs or purchase a ticket to Australia to attend the wedding.  LOL.

Kathy she is gorgeous! So happy that she arrived safe and sound and happy for you that now you can cuddle the bundle and get that sweet smell of baby on a regular basis........lol.......there is nothing like it!

My niece posted on FB last night a video of my grand niece doing the crawl for the first time.........she also is just so darn cute.....lol.....but I can't believe she is doing it at just six months old! I did ask my niece if she has grown those extra eye that are needed once baby is on the move......lol. It just seem that babies in this day and age seem to grown and learn so much more and develop at a much faster rate than they used to or maybe I'm just getting old and it seems quick to me.

Have a great day all and Kathy would you give that sweet angel a kiss on her little head from me please.

    Kathy, she's so beautiful!

I love watching the little ones learn and develop. It's so interesting how they each do things at their own rate. My twin granddaughters are developing their skills at different rates. My DD says now she sees them doing things she'll think, "H. did this, so A. will do it in about 2 weeks". And she's generally right.

Hope to get scan results at onc appt tomorrow.

Leah I have my fingers crossed that your scans are good!

I got my 'wedding' shoes out tonight and put them on for the first time........I bought them on line from a clearance house so they only cost me $15 but I guessed at the size.......couldn't have been better! They are a perfect fit and a perfect height, now I just need to walk them in some before the wedding so my feet don't kill be by the end of the day.

The colour I got says they are sterling grey but against the green of my shirt fabric they reflect and look like a pale shade of green as well.......love it! With all my crafting, sewing and looking for bargains, I've worked out that my whole outfit will cost me about $80.......now that is a bargain!

Kathy, hope that beautiful babe is thriving and your DD resting.

Leah, I'm still thinking very good thoughts for your scans!

Chrissy, that is exceptional luck with ordering shoes!  You're lucky there, and the color picking up the green sounds fantastic.

Thanks everyone for the comments about the baby.  They got home today and Anna's giving them a run for their money, too.  I offered to stay but SIL's parents are visiting tonight and I think the new parents want to be by themselves after they leave.  Poor things look exhausted already.  I've heard the phrase "baptism by fire" and I think that's what they're getting.

    Hugs to all,

    Kathy

Kathy, hopefully now they are all home Anna will settle and the new parents can start to get a routine going. The first few weeks are the hardest but things do settle.......thank goodness or we would all be off our rockers........lol.

Aly, can't wait to see some pics! Hope you are having a good time!

Strange day here today, it's blowing a gale and it can't seem to make up its mind if it is warm or cool.......lol.......it's one of those sweater on, sweater off kind of days. Oh well, I need to go to the store as my pantry is telling me to feed it, it's almost empty.......lol.

    Have a good day all!

Good news - scans show stable! When I was at the onc's today I asked "So how am I?" He told me the scans were good so I asked did that mean stable. He said "Yes, what else would it be?" I said, "All the cancer GONE." Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?

Yay Nancy! Nice to see you back! Lol, my fingers are hurting! but I'm almost done thank goodness. I started putting my top together last night and got half way up the back and realised I had been making the same mistake over and over again so I pulled it out and started again. No probs this time and without the mistake it actually is easier!.......lol.

Lisa those ships are incredible! They look so fragile it makes you wonder how the early sailors survivied doing the trips across oceans that they did.

    Have a great day!

Thanks Chrissy, it is nice to be back. Glad you caught your mistake. We might not have noticed, but I'm sure you feel better having it corrected.

Has anyone heard from 3 jays lately?

Anyone have any suggestions for a dinner to make for a friend suffering with end stage dx. I suppose I am making food more for her DH, but would like to bring some cheer into her life for a bit.  Tired of all the usual casseroles. I'll see if I can get her on the phone, but she has a hard time asking for specific things.

Do you celebrate Labor Day there on the other side of the world? To tell you the truth I'm not sure what we are actually celebrating. We just use it as an excuse to have a BBQ and eat most of the day. lol

Have fun no matter if your celebrating a holiday or not!
