hi ladies and welcome Ellen & Linda!  Slow & steady with lots of support is the way to go.  I'm down .5 so another half-pound closer to goal.

Annie, after you post a URL, put your cursor at the end then hit either the enter key or the space bar.  That will make your link hot.  http://askgeorgie.com

Heidihill, LOL at varying age.  When people ask how old I am, sometimes I'm tempted to add ten years instead of subtract ten years, so they'll think I look really good for my age!  Wink

130 was my original goal, but I'm almost there and I'm still well larded. I think I'm going to try for 125. Never went to weight watchers, so have no idea what my goal would be there. I just want to know how the women in the diet ads can go from 250 to 155 and wear a size 6. They must shop somewhere besides my store.

    Hi girls,

I've been missing in action yesterday. Working for DH this week in his secretary's absence, and it's been busy-busy. Anyway, my weight is down to 160.5 as it was 2 weeks ago. Finally. My short term goal is to be below 160 when I post again . . . will have to be very good this weekend. Been invited out for dinner on Saturday night, but will be strict. Small helpings, no seconds, and lots of water. No alcohol. Lots of walking and exercise too.

Wren, I have often wondered the same thing. On some of these weight loss shows someone will be my length, or even shorter, and weigh 10 to 20 lbs more, but wear way smaller clothes than me. They are downright lying through their teeth, that's all it can be. It's really sad, eh?

    Congrats to all the losers!

Thanks Annielane and everyone. So this has worked, that's great to hear.  I weighed in at the doc office today and of course its higher with clothes and shoes on, but it is now planted in the back of my mind....weigh-in Wednesday. Embarassed

And RangerMom remember, when you weigh at home on Wednesday morning, weigh yourself NAB (naked after bathroom) Smile Much less depressing than weighing fully dressed at the doctor's office.

Wren, when you join WW, you set your own goal weight, as long as it's in a healthy range for your height and age. I really do think WW is great, but like anything, the plan only works if you work the plan. I reached my goal and maintained it long enough to become a lifetime member in 2010. Then I had to give up my favorite form of exercise (roller skating), my mom passed away and I quit going to meetings and quit tracking my eating. Then of course, BC entered the picture. No more excuses, though!

And Wren, I suppose if you weigh 155 and are 7 ft tall, you could wear a size 6 Tongue Out

Either that or they're buying clothes at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. I've heard they run larger than Sears.

I think I'd have a hard time with Weight Watchers now because we don't eat red meat or many eggs. I think I'll stick to fairly low carbs and lots of veggies and fruit.

Welcome rangermom. I do find it helpful to post every week. Get those estrogen-producing fat cells out of here.

Muscles weigh more than fat, so if you have two ladies of the same weight, the fit one will be wearing a smaller size. I know this is true because I dropped a pant size without losing any weight when I got really serious about exercise.

Very true, Ruth, and for those of you newbies who aren't on the "Let's Post Our Daily Exercise" thread, check it out.

Joining this group now so I don't have the weight gain I hear can accompany chemo! (I already need to lose 40 lbs.). Had my first tx 08/14 and was pretty sick for four days, but the past few days, I've been eating like I'm starving!!! Will have next tx 08/28, so will weigh that morning! How much do you think hair weighs? I am chopping mine off tomorrow before it falls out. ;).

Martie1228, I really think you should cut yourself some slack during chemo. Any weight gain during chemo is likely to be from fluid retention and from the steriods. Keep yourself as well nourished as possible.

hi Martie, welcome!  I ate whatever tasted good during chemo and stayed nourished enough not to need neulasta shots but also gained 20 lbs.  Took me two years, but I lost it. Then started on the old entrenched fat LOL.  Set a goal to lose 20 more.  It's taken a year but I'm halfway there.  Now I'm working on the last ten and OMG these are some stubborn fat cells. Wink

p.s. if you can afford a small indulgence, splurge on a satin pillowcase.  They're around $10 and feel so good against your nubby lil head.

Hi, on Wednesday I was okay but back up today so now working on going down by next Wednesday.  Gonna conquer this belly somehow!  Size 2 (5'7" - 187 lbs) here I come (yeah, fat chance! - better put a number 1 in front of that 2 and that would still be pushing it)  I also wonder how someone who is my height and girth can claim to be a size 6, even if it is out of Nordstrom or Lord and Taylor, Ann Taylor, etc. (none of those stores can I afford).

Okay I have been sitting on my behind at a business conference all week, with dinners out with colleages. Great to be back to my usual routine after finishing chemo, three surgeries and rads, but NOT good for the waistline!

I just had salad with diet dressing today (back to work) and will weigh in on wednesday.

Good luck with your choices everyone and I hope you have a great weekend!

May i join you ladies? I lost 10 pounds since february then bam, a local recurrence sent me into chemo. I am finishing chemo and would love to lose seven pounds before they suppress my ovaries as it seems it will be harder at that point. Can I lose weight during rads?

Ignore sizes. They alter them to make you feel better. In my twenties I wore a six and I sill wear a six even though I am not the same weight! Go figure. In a European brand I wear an American 10. More accurate.

Welcome Twohobbies, yes you can lose weight during rads.

I have been on vacation and have been eating fast food and driving, driving, driving. Luckily I have no access to a scale and will be glad to get home to a more normal schedule.

Yes, welcome TwoHobbies! You can lose weight during rads, but be careful to keep your lean protien intake up. I ate a lot of greek yogurt and fish.

Martie I did not gain weight overall during chemo but I did go up and down week to week so try not to get too frustrated with that.

Typically i will be very hungry next week so it will be interesting to see if I can avoid weight gain next week.

Welcome Twohobbies! May I ask what your hobbies are?

Up 200 grams. Must be an optical illusion. Next week has got to be a down week.

Good morning ladies. My starting weigh-in for this venture is 126.8. That is down .8 lb from the day before I started chemo so I'm happy with that.

Heidihill my hobbies are gardening and cycling. I can't wait to get some physical strength back to do those.

up .5 to 162.5 - wrong direction and again no excuses - have started to weigh daily so that this gradual upward trend doesn't blossom into full blown failure in a week!

Congrats to all those who lost! I know that feels great.  I had family visiting and a baby shower this week and I did horrible. I am the same though 159.5.  I feel so bloated so I am realy going to try hard this week. Maybe even get some walks in.  Have a great week everyone.  Let's do it!

Weight still exactly the same as last week, 160.5. Been there for 3 weeks now, and the 150's are still eluding me. I've been very good, and exercised religously every day this week. Oh well, I guess it's better than gaining. Let's see what next week brings. My children are coming for a visit this weekend, and will expect Mom's home-cooking. Mom will just have to sit by and watch them eat while picking at a lettuce leaf - lol.

Good afternoon everyone, I'm happy lost .6. Was pretty good watching my diet. Finding my appetite is down which does make it easier. Tomorrow is my sons birthday and we are going out for dinner-refuse to be good!

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Down .5 to 130.5.

GuyGirl, Look at it as doing well for half the day. I suspect you might need more protein and fat at lunch or afternoon snack so you're not so hungry at night. I used to go off track at 4pm until my dietitian pointed out that I could plan for that and have an apple and some almonds.

hi all and welcome TwoHobbies! I'm up .5 this week darn those stubborn fat cells. Wink

Been hot & humid here days so walking 30 mins in the a.m. which is half my usual time so that may have something to do with it.  Should add a walk after supper but then there are bugs that bite.

Wren, I like apple + peanut butter, what's your opinion of apple + almond butter?  Too many grams of fat?
