You're in luck! It's in Kanata, I'm doing herceptin tomorrow so I understand. Hopefully the restaurant will have comfy seats. Waiting to hear for either Wed or Thurs. I'm good for either days myself, what day is better for you Neta?
Can hardly wait! Xoxox Jo -
Neta, why are you in mid chemo? Is it back? Jo
-
Hi Jo, I'm back to go as it turned out they missed a whole bunch of tumors with the lumpectomy the first time round. It's a long story but my Drs have decided it's a separate cancer from the one treated last year and they say it probably was there the whole time. They are treating me as a new primary rather than a recurrence. Hence chemo again. Sucks.
Sorry to be so noncommittal about lunch. If I'm not too nauseous il try to make it. -
Where you ladies meeting. I might try to make it.
-
We don't know yet Michele. Scottiee is to be in touch some time today and as soon as she is I'll let everyone know. It will be in Kanata, likely March Road north of The Queensway. I hope you can make it.
-
Well ladies as I said...having problems keeping track of everything...the colonoscopy that I was to have on Friday is actually tomorrow
Knew the date but having problems aligning days...fibro fog lol
So unfortunately I will be unable to attend but will take a raincheck for the next date
Have a blast you most certainly have earned it. -
So sorry we'll be missing you Diane. I hope all goes well with the colonoscopy. I just heard from Scottiee, she's in town but we still don't have a place or time arranged. Hopefully we'll know soon.
-
Hi folks. Please let me know when you meet up again as I would love to meet you all. I have my first appointment with Dr. Meng, radiation oncologist tomorrow morning so I'm not sure how long it'll take as I have my requisite list of a billion questions
Actually not even sure how many she can answer as I have to meet with the chemo onco 10 days later. Have fun and hopefully, I can catch you all on the next one!
-
I'm hoping Scottiee will post the time and place within a couple of hours. Otherwise it looks like this get together may not get together.
-
Hi ladies. I won't be able to make it today. Feeling to yucky :-( I'd love to meet you all another time though. Diva, I had Dr Meng first time round and I really like her. Hope you will too.
-
Phew, what an ordeal.
As Scottiee said, it would likely be easier to arrange a trip to Hawaii.
We are meeting at 700 March Road. Phu Yen is the restaurant. If it's too busy (high tech area and they don't take lunch reservations) we'll find another place. I'm aiming to pick Scottiee up (if I can find her) about 11:15 so we'll meet about 11:30.
-
HI Girls.
I would certainly be in for Hawaii! haha
Anyhow, I have waited a coon's age for an appt with a specialist. They have a cancellation, and I need to take it. Unfortunately the appt is at 1120 this morning. I will have to pass and pick up next time. I hope you have a wonderful lunch. Sad to miss out.
D.
-
No worries ladybug. I hope your appt. goes well. Arranging this lunch has been a bit of a fiasco. We may end up at Burger King.
-
Well, Scottiee, JoCanuck and myself did end up meeting for lunch. I must tell you something I'm sure you already know. They are both beautiful, great women!! I am honoured to have met them and look forward to our next meeting. Conversation was easy, it's uncanny how meeting BCO sisters is like reconnecting with someone you already know. But then again, I guess we did already know each other. Hopefully JoC will post a picture or two.
-
P.S. Thank you to Scottiee's friends for inviting her here in the first place.
-
Lol, Burger King would have been great as well Marple! I had a great time ladies! I'll post some pics tomorrow of the "gang" 😇
Truly it feels like slipping on your most comfy shoes when you meet up in person...already old friends xoxoxo Jo -
So glad you ladies had a great time...sorry I missed it.
Seems like every test leads to another.
Bone scan led to xray which now requires an mri
Colonoscopy is now leading to specialized mri and endoscopy resulted in biopsies and a change of meds
Seems like I just get my head around one diagnosis and there is another one staring me in the face....yes I know...just another day in breast cancer paradise lol -
Dianne, this is hard! At least your onco is on the ball and turning every stone (so to speak) to ensure your on the correct treatment path, be happy they're still looking and cancer cells beware! Triple neg is tough so docs have to be tough! Who is your onco if you dont mind me asking? You can pm me if you'd like. Xoxox Jo
-
We can meet up anytime you're feeling better! Xoxox Jo
-
I'd love to meet you too Diane. I'm sorry you missed today for yukky appts. but like Jo said, it's good they are looking around at everything. Still, we know it's hard all the waiting that goes along with each appt. and finding out results. Hugs.
-
Hawaii? Did I hear Hawaii?
Glad to hear lunch was a go and that fun was had!
Neta69, Dr. Meng was great. I definitely feel like I've lucked out so far with my docs. I had Dr. Lorimer for surgery who I really liked, now Dr. Meng and I meet with Dr. Gertler on the 13 so hopefully, I'll be 3 for 3. It's a wee bit frustrating though as Dr. Meng was all ready to get me started with radiation but as there's a "kinda sorta" recommendation for chemo, we have to wait for Dr. G to make the final decision. Not a huge deal but would have loved to have had the Dr. G appointment before the Dr. M one. NOt a huge deal but trying to be all Zen about it
OHmmmmmmmmm
-
Hi Diva, I have Dr. G and have been happy with him. I hope you are too. He's easy to talk to, doesn't rush you and doesn't seem to mind questions.
-
Marple I believe it was Dr. Gertler that Laurie mentioned as her wonder onco so Diva that's 2 recommends for him. Jo
-
Thanx ladies...just get frustrated
My oncologists are Dr. Clemons for chemo and Dr. Caudrelier for radiation.
They both should suit me just fine. Both very thorough in their explanations of what they have planned, possible complications and what they hope the outcome to be.
I sometimes feel like I am pushing a boulder uphill but I think breast cancer is like that....just have to learn to climb one hill at a time and eventually I will be on the plateau where the rock is still there but the road is paved -
Thanks for the recommendations on Dr. G ladies! Looking forward to meeting him and driving him insane with all my questions. I tend to go into these appointments with a page or two of questions. So far, none of the docs have minded...yet
Don't blame you for being frustrated Diane but I'm glad the docs are being vigilant in checking everything out. Sending out some positive vibes and cancer kicking fist bumps!

Hi, Ottawa Ladies, I saw my PS today and found out that he is moving out of Ottawa in Dec and that my implant from my reconstructive breast need to be changed in the near future as it is getting hard on the edge and has started to be distorted. (I have it for 5 years now). He told me that I have to ask to my familiar Doctor to refer me to another PS as the hospital has not replaced him yet. So is anyone know how long does it take to have an appt with a Plastic Surgeon in Ottawa when a new referral is sent.
Sig -
I saw my PS not long after my referral It was a while ago but I'm thinking maybe a month or a bit longer. Not bad in my opinion.
Michele -
Wow it sure is quiet here. How is everyone doing.
