    I am quite sure that those plastic containers get up to no good in thecupboard - have you noticed how they multiply?

    Marianne, where abouts are you? My aunt, who I will be seeing in about two weeks, lives very close to Amish and Mennonite communities in Pennsylvania. Bought a beautiful quilt when we visited her in 2010. I know there are communities in other states and I have a Canadian friend who was brought up Mennonite.

    Must drink my cup od tea and sew these hems.

    I wish I still had a copy of a piece a friend and I wrote back in the 80's.  remember how wire coat hangers used to multiply. And anyone who has ever worked in a large office knows how paperclips do.  We wrote a rather humorus piece about The Sex Life of Paperclips and Coathangers.

    Yay Chrissy, dream catchers all done!  It's all coming together and I can't wait to see the pictures!

    Lisa, I fear I too am married to a hoarder.  Every year or so I decide to clean out our garage, which holds everything except cars, and everything I propose throwing away he might "need" some day.  So, I've begun clearing bit by bit, while he's gone somewhere.  It's the only way to get rid of anything. 

    AJ, it's good to see you!  Hope all is well.

    DD's baby is now 2 days overdue, so still waiting.

    Kathy, breathe........babies have a habit of coming in their own sweet time and not to our schedule......lol.......all of mine were between one and two weeks over and believe me, they were well cooked when born, they all peeled!



    I read somewhere not so long ago that the 40 week gestation is pretty much a myth as most babies do not arrive on time. Scientist are now saying gestation can be anything from 30 - 42 weeks and would be considered normal full term. Hoping but comes soon as I know these last days can be harrowing!



    I have decided, after looking through my crochet patterns, to make a beautiful pullover and soft full skirt with cami for the wedding. The colour of the pullover is latte and I'll do the skirt and cami in probably a soft mushroom.......so, I have given myself a two week window to get the top done and if its not complete or very close to being complete then it will be a shopping trip to the city for something off the peg.



    DH is a bit of a hoarder but for the last six weeks he has finally gotten into the back of his shop and sorted stuff.........there were so many books that were unsaleable that he needed to hire a large skip to take them away! I will admit its been a hell of a job and one that has needed to be done for the last five years but was so daunting he kept putting it off but now at least what is there ( and there is still an enormous amount) is organised and he can see and get to everything. I will say for the time being though as I know him so well, in no time at all he will have filled the space (what little there is) with all sorts of new things........lol.......I just feel sorry for my girls if something happens to us as trying to sort and get rid of everything is going to be one of their worst nightmares!



    Well back to my crocheting as the next two weeks are going to fly!

    We also have a garage that doesn't ever have a car in it. So much furniture most of it is boomerang things from children but it also seems to multiply. That is one job for over summer as next year we are going to have the garage reroofed and repaired. i have quite a collection of fabric but i certainly don't save every scrap like my friend does. She is really a hoarder.

    I can't wait to hear where your aunt lives.  I am in Lancaster county right in the heart of all things dutch.

    As to babies arrival dates - all five were about two weeks past the due date that was given by the doctor.  As a matter of fact, my baby will be 40 next week.  I am so lucky as she was late marrying and has three little ones.  So I have two grands well into their 20s and now three little ones - so much fun = and so nice at 77 to still have little ones around.

    Chrissy,  your planned outfit sounds very chic!  Can't wait to see all the pics - don't forget to get some pics of the food to keep me happy.

    Chrissy, the outfit sounds lovely. I'm in awe of people who can crochet and knit that fast. I'm a 1 sweater a year type. Made a lovely cabled pullover that looked so much better on DS that I gave it to him.

    Alyson, Garages are for cars??? Who knew!!

    MaryD911, I have the same setup with grands. Two in their 20's in college, and 2 in grade school (1st and 4th). By far the best arrangement.

    Wren last winter I knitted five pullovers for my DH as well as crocheting a lap rug for myself.........this last summer I knitted two silk shawls for my DDs. I'm one of those people that can't sit and do nothing with their hands......lol. The tele is usually on but I listen more than watch.



    My brother taught me to knit when I was about six or seven and I've been doing it ever since and then I taught myself to crochet when I was in my early twenties and have been doing it ever since.......lol. I also do silk ribbon embroidery, ordinary embroidery, cross stitch as well as a plethora of other crafts. The hands need to be kept out of mischief.......lol. When my children where small and money was tight I would go to the op shops and buy anything that I could pull apart and remak into something else.......I always knew where my kids were as they wore unique clothing either sewn, knitted or crocheted. I'm afraid the habit has continued even though they rarely call on my skills now I still like to keep busy at night.



    Oh my, I have raved on haven't I, sorry.......must be in a chatty mood .......lol.

    Morning all

    I should be up getting things done for our trip but I have a purring cat sitting on meand I don't want to move.

    I don't do as much as Chrissy but do a lot of knitting, sewing and other craft. Last year my sister and I knitted about 50 items for the local childrens hospital. She has done a lot this year but I have been making a quilt and knitting for my grands. I do things like that especially when I have a lot of pain it takes my mind off it. With DD1 being a singer I have made many an evening dress and DD2 often came to get me to help with her sewing even though she is very good and sews beautiful things for herself.

    Marianne I am visiting my aunt who lives in Pottsville PA,we have 5 days there. I loved the Lancaster area when we were there 3 years ago. Had a wonderful coversation with the lovely Mennonite lady I bought a quilt from as we discussed quilt patterns.Send me a PM as I am always happy to have coffee if possible. Last time had the best coffee I had in the US in Lititz. According to my DH I am a coffee fiend. I was so dissappointed with US coffee.

    Sorry Mr B I need something to eat. He is my old cat 16yrs and unusually has come for a cuddle. I think he knows what is going on, not that he is being left alone as my sister lives with us so he will be very spoilt..

    I am awed by you ladies who can knit and crochet and sew--Saturday night I was at my wit's end just trying to hem a pair of pants!  Next time I've resolved to have the store hem them.

    DD's doctor told her he'll induce labor if she hasn't gone by Monday.  She's to check into the hospital Sunday night, so at least we know when the baby will definitely come if not before.  Thanks for the stories about overdue babies.  They relieved my mind!

    Alyson, have a wonderful trip!  Hope NC will be on your itinerary the next time around!

    My daughter was 2 weeks overdue. We were making plans to induce.

    Alyson, we had a cat once who loved to travel. She would sit in the suitcase when she saw it was being packed. When she was a kitten, we drove her to Alaska and flew her back. She was a calico with blue ribbons from 2 cat shows we put her in for a lark. We moved from Texas to Washington with 2 female cats and a nursing litter of kittens. The kittens stayed right under the air conditioning vent and the females took turns.

    Alyson, when my Mother won a trip around the world she spent a couple of weeks practice packing.  She had an "suitcase" that folded out into a large garment bag with a separate compartment at the  bottem for shoes and other small items.  She did her final pack the day before except to add her last minute items in the morning and set the bag on the floor at the end of the bed.  The next morning she went to put in out on the bed  and it was to heavy for her to lift.  During the night our over weight standard dachshund had removed all the shoes, hidden them under the bed and climbed in!

    Oh Chabba!  That is funny!

    Glad to hear more overdue stories.  DD's still hanging in there, still waiting.  She says it's gotten funny to hear the panic in the voices of anyone she calls.

    Chabba that's way funny about the little dog!......I'm still chuckling........lol.



    Brenda I certainly will post a pic when it's completed but I've had to change the colour from mushroom to mint green as that particular shade was not available where I bought my fabric. Actually, the mint green will look even better with the latte of the top.



    So far the back is about two thirds complete with the amount of medallions needed and I laid them out last night just to get a sense of what it will look like completed.........I must say, I hope it looks as good on me as it does on my ironing board..........lol.

    Our local vet has done very well today. Have to take Angus our fat ginger cat to vet because he has been in a fight - well beaten up. After I brought him home I speak to neighbour who has just had her cat at the vet, guess who had been fighting each other!!! Later have to take Mr B our old cat for his inoculations and meet another neighbour who looked very shocked - he had just run over his cat in the driveway. Charlie is everyone's friend around here. A long while later they appear with Charlie who has only suffered bruising, what a relief. Mr B was perfect and hardly made a sound today though it hit my pocket hard.

    Alyson,  I hope you haven't started your trip yet.  This is me, formerly MaryD911.  I have been having so much trouble getting logged in here even though it is my same user name and password.  I finally asked them to get rid of the old account and let me start over.  They didn't.  I then created a new account under my husband's address and until I get it straightened out I will be Mariannex5.

    Lisa the test worked just fine......lol. Sounds like you are having fun with the new computer/laptop/tablet and Windows 8.



    I have all the components of my crocheted top done, now I just have to put them all together. Material for the outfit will be arriving later this week and I have decided to take a pattern from my favourite skirt and use that........it is an eight gore skirt that sits snugly around the hips and flares to a very full bottom......very flattering and quite slimming and it has an elastic waist so very comfy. Not sure yet about the top but I'm thinking a camy type top with a soft over jacket that can be used at a later date with the skirt or if I'm not happy with the crochet when it's done then I can wear it as a three piece for the wedding............did I mention I hate sorting out clothes? I much prefer my comfy jeans and skivvy..........lol.......but in sure they are not appropriate for a wedding.........lol.

    Chrissy, sounds like you're coming right along, and your outfit sounds lovely.  It's a great idea to use a pattern that you like and looks good, too.  Please post lots of pictures!

    DD and SIL came over this afternoon to visit for a while.  She was admitted at 8:00 PM tonight to start an induction, and so far has started a drug to aid in effacement.  The pitocin will be started in the morning, so it looks like a long day ahead.  I read about induction on the internet today and wish I hadn't!  DH and I will go to the hospital in late morning and wait.  Unless we get a call earlier to get there in a hurry. 

    Good luck with the second opinion tomorrow, Marianne, and happy traveling, Alyson.

    Kathy an induced labor is so much harder than one that starts naturally as ther is no build up. I really feel for you DD right now but the good thing is, after all the hard work and pain there is a beautiful baby as reward. Hoping all goes well for them both.



    I am getting asked to post so many pics by so many I think I will do a new thread so everyone can check them out at their leisure.........lol. Either way I will be sharing the day with you all.

    With my sons 2 &3 they just broke my water to induce me but that was 40 years ago.

    With my second, I was half way thru labor with no symptoms. When they broke the water, I was dialated 4-5 and the baby was at station zero. An hour & 20 min later, he was born. The first was easy, but not that easy.
