I had my bmx in March and had to go off the pill when I was diagnosed. I met with my gyn and am trying to decide what to do about birth control now that I can't take the pill. Dr recommended IUD or essure. Anyone have first hand experience to share about either of these?

    Hi Kap,

I got a copper IUD (paragard) when I finished my treatment.  For the most part I've been very happy with it and wish I did it a long time ago.  I always hated being on BC pills.

The nice things are that you don't have to think about taking your pill every day.  It's more effective than the pill taken with "typical" use.  It has few side effects.

The side effects I experienced were: cramping (like PMS cramps) early on, and heavy periods early on - those have no subsided.
