Introducing myself

Hi, my name is Jennifer. I'll be 45 in two days. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma about 1-1/2 months ago. Right now, my doc says she'd put me at a stage II but will not get my final staging until after my surgery, which is schedule in about 10 days. This is not my first round with cancer. I was diagnosed with bone cancer as a teen, went through chemo and an amputation. It's been 30 years now and I really never thought I'd hear the big "C" word again, but here I am. I've been able to connect with a couple gals who have either been through treatment already and are doing well or are in the midst, which has been very helpful. My goal is to ultimately be able to help someone else along the way. This is such a sucky situation and no one should have to go through it alone.

Jenn, I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's good that you found this site early on because you will find a lot of love, support and education here. Look for the August surgery thread. That was where I first landed and we were going through a lot of the stages of treatment together. I wish you the very best as you move forward.

Hi Jenn, I was recently diagnosed with IDC too and am waiting for surgery. I know it's scary, but this is a great place to be! Everyone is so helpful!

Hi ladies my name is Helen I was diagnosed with Idc on 7/22/13 had a left mastectomy with reconstruction on 8/7 waiting to see surgeon on 8/20 to be referred to oncologist for further treatment 5 of 18 nodes pos. very anxious and worried about next steps. Please help!!!

Helen, I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis!! It's hard in the beginning. Waiting is the worst! A few posts up ReneeinOhio posted about a 2013 IDC group that may be a great place for you to start and connect. Let us know if you have trouble finding it. Hugs! Hang in there as you go through treatment in the upcoming months.
