Additional Papillomas!!

Hello everyone..

I've been under surveillance for the last 6mths @ MSKCC and had my follow up MRI last week. I'm 41.

My baseline MRI was clear but this one showed two areas of enhancements. I had them biopsied and two pappilomas in the same area were found. i'm concerned because this now make 3 papillomas in a 6mth period. I can't seem to find any information on the internet other then that these tumors are benign and surgery is recommended. I honestly want to leave them alone until they become problematic  but I know that's just wishful thinking. Has anyone else had any experience with these and is it common to have them return so soon?

Timeline of events...

Jan 2013 - felt pain in my left breast. Had mammo and u/s and found lesion

Feb - after a core biospy was done the doc recommended surgical biopsy @ St. Lukes to remove papilloma found. Afterwards Path found 1mm DCIS...however after 2nd opinion at Sloan Kettering path slides were reviewed and no DCIS or atypical cells were found. All was good.

August - had follow up MRI and enancements were found. MRI guided biopsy was done and now 2 papillomas have been found and here we are. The rollercoaster has started again!!

My breast hasn't completely healed from my surgery in Jan not to mention the MRI biopsy was very painful  I'm still sore after 3 days. I can't even think about another surgery right now. sigh....

Any information would be helpful Thank you!

Tanya

Good luck to you.  I'm also at MSK.  It's amazing how frequently people can have surgery.  I had three between July and October (two of them three weeks apart).  It wasn't as bad as it could have been.  What do you mean about the breast not healing from January surgery (scar tissue? seroma?)?  My surgeon did feel like I still had fluid in there, but the rad onc didn't feel it, just lots of scar tissue (unavoidable).  I don't know anything about papillomas, but I'm sure someone will respond.  I guess the issue is that malignant tissue can be near it, etc., like your scare in February with the crazy findings (I remember reading your posts on that).  You are in good hands.  I did hear that MRI biopsies are very painful, sorry you had to do that.
