I stopped taking tamoxifen in the middle of June be because it didn't agree with me. I had severe joint pain. My period had been irregular for the last 2 yrs ( I started tamoxifen in Aug 2011 after lumpectomy and radiation). I have also gained 15lbs during this time despite monitoring my diet and exercising. Has anyone else experienced this?

I stopped taking Tamoxifen on July 20, 2013 after being on it for 11 months. Like you, I had severe joint pain that is easing up little by little every day. My period stopped after being on Tamoxifen for a month and has not returned. My hot flashes got better right after I stopped the drug, but now have come back with a vengance! When I am eating "clean" foods and doing regular exercise, I always feel much better. Sadly, I have fallen from that routine this summer and have been feeling yucky. I need to get back on the diet and get exercising again! Have you ever heard of the supplement DIM? I ordered some yesterday and I am going to give it a try. I have also gained 15 lbs and had some good results with energy and weight loss when I took the supplement 5-HTP. I have also fallen from that routine.....need to get back at it!

Thanks for you reply gailsun1965, I have not heard of DIM but will probably give it a try. I am going to call my Onc soon if things don't start to get better. Good luck to you hope you get back on track.

I have been on DIM (Nature's Way DIM Plus) for a little over two weeks and have seen my hot flashes starting ease up. My hot flashes got worse after a week on DIM before they got better. I have had a couple of nights where I have only had one hot flash and was able to sleep about 7 hours.....something that I haven't done in a long time. Usually, I wake at least on the hour (if not more often) with a hot flash and get very little sleep. Today, I noted all of my hot flashes during the day and I only had 3....almost a third of what I was used to. I will keep taking DIM in hopes of continuing this progress!
