AnnMarie-I had mild neck pain prior to BC. When diagnosed, my BS asked me about any pains I migtht be having. She sent me for an Xray & it showed "mild"arthritis. After being on Tamox for 4-5months my neck pain got much worse, extending into my shoulder. I had it re-Xrayed & this time it showed "moderate" arthritis. So my arthritis went from mild to moderate in less than a year. I suspect it's the tamoxifen. It seems like I'm getting lot's of aches & pains.

This me to a T at the moment.  I have been on Tamoxifen since 8 July and my back and neck are so sore.  My left shoulder blade feels so tight and I keep having shoulder muscle spasms.  I have had a bad back for years, but this muscle pain feels awful and more constant.  My physio saw me today and says it's muscle pain related to the sympathetic nervous system.  Apparently the sympathetic nervous system is very sensitive to hormonal changes and stress.  Gee, great.  I also have a bit of a chest cold at the moment so I'm paranoid I have lung or bone mets.   Seeing my onc on Monday so hopefully she will give me some peace of mind.  Argh!!!!!  Bloody breast cancer - no pain is worry free.

    Hello Jubby,

What did your onco say about your neck pain? I started tamoxifen in Dec last year and have neck and shoulders stiffness and pain after 2-3 weeks. My onco keeps saying it is not a side effect of tamoxifen but it is because of menopause. But this is what I read from internet:

Hope to hear from you about your progress.
