I think they are putting the cart before the horse. First develop ways to identify the indolent tumors that won't metastasize, then change the name of those tumors to remove the words "cancer" or "neoplasia". To change the name before there is a way to tell the tumors that may safely be left alone from the potentially lethal ones, as this article seems to me to be suggesting, won't eliminate overtreatment. I doubt that many, if any, patients, will be willing to forego treatment, unless their doctor can assure them that the tumor that has been found by screening won't cause problems or become invasive/metastatic in the future.
