People Who Eat Nuts More Than Three Times a Week Have Reduced Risk of Dying from Cancer or Cardiovascular Disease

People who eat nuts, particularly walnuts, are more likely to live longer, finds research in BioMed Central's open access journal BMC Medicine. In a longitudinal study, researchers suggest that those who eat nuts more than three times a week have a reduced risk of dying from cancer or cardiovascular disease than non-nut eaters.

    I've been trying to est more nuts. I often have a handful of almonds in the late afternoon to keep me going until dinner. And when I have oatmeal for breakfast I'll add some chopped walnuts (toasted for a few minutes on the stove). And one of my favorite combinations is a beet and goat cheese salad with toasted walnuts or pecans.

    One of my favorite vegetarian meals is this pasta from Cooks Illustrated -

    CAVATAPPI WITH ASPARAGUS, ARUGULA, WALNUTS, AND BLUE CHEESE (don't forget the grated apple on top)
