So sorry Alyson. Hugs.
-
Alyson, I too am sorry about your friend. There have been far too many deaths lately, and it's hard.
I meant to ask DIL how I copied and pasted on Firefox today but forgot. It was control c and control something else, not p, or the other way around. Oh well, it worked that one time. We kept 7 month old DGS #2 twice today, this morning while DIL took DGS#1 to his swimming lesson, and again this evening when she went to the gym to do training for the half marathon run she's doing in December. DS is working late or he'd keep him. Now, DGS#2's crawling and on some solids, and was fun to feed.
We have a wedding to go to Saturday, our nephew's. Haven't yet thought of a thing to wear, but at least it's not formal so I'm figuring just church-type clothes. Of course, the forecast is for rain!

-
Kathy, try control C then control V
-
Wren, what does that do?
-
Control C = Copy, Contorl V = Paste.........they are keyboard smart keys.
-
you are so smart...
-
Chrissy,
I love reading your posts. I have been wondering what you meant when you said your husband was home and you were going to cook the tea. Do you actually mean brew the tea or is it another way of saying cook the dinner? I have never been to your country but love that we experience the same things even though we are so far from each other.
Love hearing of other cultures so also tell me what you cooked for his tea
Hugs, Marianne
-
Marianne, in this part of the world it is just another way of saying we are going to make dinner. Tea is your ordinary evening meal while dinner is more formal or maybe you go out for dinner. Language is a wonderful thing and even though we all are speaking English there are huge differences in usage, some of which cause very funny situations.
Chrissy is probably not awake yet as she is a couple of hours behind NZ
-
Girls, was awake when you posted but I was busily fussy cutting the lace for DD wedding table runners........what a time consuming job! Must admit though they are going to look fab on the day.
Marianne, Aly has explained the word 'tea' in that context beautifully...........as she said, we only use the word 'dinner' for formal occasions.
Talking of the wedding, I have completed the hearts for the brides dress.......finally! It is only seven weeks away so getting way too close and the pace has picked up for me markedly.........seems like the more I do the more I find needs doing..........do you think the wedding gremlins are dabbling in my plans?..........lol. I know it will all be fine on the day and what is not done will have to stay undone (and I'm sure there will be nothing left to do) but you all know how it is, the stress of not getting it done is sort of beginning to niggle the back of my mind. I need to take a few big deep breaths and head down and butt up and get going.........hahahaha ha!
Have a great day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
I guess it is a good thing I had three sons...when it comes to weddings anyhow..
-
Lisa it's loads of work but its work I do enjoy doing........just as well......lol
-
Chrissy, I was just remembering your world trip and how great it was to have met you and shown you our San Diego. Seems so long ago now.

Message showed up twice
-
Chrissy, I know the wedding will be wonderful and everything that needs to be done will be done, but I also know that you will think of things that would have been nice if you had dreamed them up before the wedding was over! Love you and I am still fighting with DH on when we I can come, he has resorted to taking me to the beach for a few days in Sept hoping that will get the traveling out of my system. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! I am coming to see you after the wedding sometime. Love you my dear sister.
-
Lisa I often reminiss about my trip and the different places I visited. I think to where I would like to return and San Diego is one of them. My DD was in LA this past fortnight as part of the cheer aquad for our local girl competing in the Cross Fit Games and before the competition began, her and her fiancé hired a car and drove down to see the San Diego Zoo as I kept telling her how wonderful it was.
Oh yes, our local girl is now world champion in her age bracket!..she done gooood!
Still working on the wedding stuff.........I now have two twelve metre lengths of lace fussy cut both sides for the table runners........only two more to go but for today I need to give my hand a rest as my fingers are beginning to protest loudly!
Have a great day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Wow Chrissy, 7 weeks to go! That wedding will be here and over before you know it. I keep thinking how fortunate your DD is to have you to do such exquisite crocheting, table runners, etc. etc. Those items will become treasured heirlooms for generations.
DH and I went to a wedding of a different sort today--DH's youngest nephew, who's 28. It was held at a Primitive Baptist Church and was very different from what I'm accustomed to. This church doesn't allow musical instruments (!) but does allow singing, so there was an acapella (sp?) group of 6 young men and women. Also, during the ceremony, the minister said the husband was the head of the home and the wife should accept and comply with that. WHOA!! My hackles rose a bit at that! But other than that, it was a pretty wedding and the newlyweds should be in Charleston by now.
Hope everybody's having a good weekend!
Kathy
-
Wow Kathy! My hackles would have risen at those words as well......talk about going back to the nineteenth century! I wish them well all the same......marriage is not easy and when life pokes its nose in the stakes get raised even higher. I hope they have the where with all to weather the storms..
Oh wow.....talk about using cliches!......lol......they just expressed well what I was thinking.
Oh yeah, the next seven weeks are going to fly by and there are still so many little things that need to be finalised. It's hard to pin DD down to get some final decisions but I'm going to have to do it even if I sit on her!.......lol. Most of the details are for the decor of the reception, I know what she wants ( even though she's not sure herself....grrrrr!) and I wish she'd just let me get on with it but everything has to be run past her before its completed........just makes things a whole lot harder when I need to hire a lot of stuff to give her what she has asked for. Don't know if being older and getting married is harder or what but I don't think I had this amount of stress with DD1's wedding. Oh well, it will all be over soon and I can get back to relaxing........hahahaha!
Have a good Sunday girls!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
these wild flowers looked so lonely ..
-
Lisa they are so pretty! Imagine what a whole field of them would look like!
-
Chrissy, I would love to see that...
Here is the view from the patio at my brother's house.
-
I could live with that!!!
-
Oh I could wake up to that each morning........just beautiful! It's hard to believe that there are vistas like that right outside someone's door.
-
and that is in the summer!
-
Absolutely beautiful photos Lisa.
-
Lisa, it's hard to believe those are wild flowers. They look as if a landscaper had done it! I definitely could live with the view your brother has. So, so nice.
-
Those wild flowers were on a mountain trail, so pretty
-
I am really so hooked on roses..
-
They are a flower worthy of being hooked on. Gorgeous color in that one Lisa!
Heading off back to the city shortly as I have my appointment with my naturopath first thing in the morning and then I get the results of the colonoscopy tomorrow afternoon. I didn't get any phone call so I'm assuming that all is well and he'll just tell me to change my diet......done know what else I can stop eating as I eat mainly veg already.......lol. I'm sure he'll have some suggestions.........well I'll know tomorrow.
Have a great day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Good luck Chrissy
