Stronger nails with Rejuvocote.

Options

I know this seems trivial, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway.

I had acrylic nails for 20+ years.  My nails have always been horrible -- they were thin and split and generally embarassing, especially during those years I bit them to the quick.  Pockets were a requirement for my clothes.

Chemo/herceptin did a number on them.  Two lifted almost to the quick.  During the the course of my treatment, my nails and hair grew very little.  When I finally took off the acrylics in March (around 4 months after finishing Herceptin) my nails were so thin and painful that acrylics were out of the question.

So, I tried this nail strengthening stuff called Rejuvocote that my mother in law gave my daughter.  The first couple of applications burned for a bit -- nothing like that first cold cap though!

After 4 months of religious use, I can report that Rejuvocote is a true miracle treatment.  My nails are as long as I kept my acrylics (a little past the end of my finger because I cook and garden so much), hard, no splitting or pealing.

I honestly can't believe it.  I have never had nails like this in my life.

Of course, check with your doctor about using during treatment.

If the state of your nails has been bothersome during treatment or before, I'm telling you this stuff works.  I'm scared the acrylic/gel nail companies are going to buy them out or something because this stuff could but a kink in their business.

I have no affiliation with the company whatsoever -- just want my BC sisters to know about a product that may help with a small, but still real, side effect of treatment.

Thanks for the recommendation. I didn't have any nail problems during treatment, but since finishing chemo my nails have been thin and brittle, and they split easily. I'll look for this stuff - I've been wondering what I could do.
