6months after radiation and I still healing
I have been done with radiation since January.I have one little scab left. Last week I noticed a redness above my scab, it is red and itchy. Yesterday I went to for my followup with my radiation doctor she looked at it and wants me to see my surgeon on Tuesday. My doctor thinks it could be a fungus but because of the ibc we have to be careful. I am putting ointment on it. I am a little freaked out. Anyone else have this happen?

Up Date. I went to my doctors on Tuesday they think it is a fungus. They gave me an ointment to put on it. Apparently it is not uncommon of this to happen. I hope this goes away fast.I go back to the doctor in 2weeks.

I hope the docs know what they are doing and this is just fungal infection. Please be strong and try at least to stay positive. Can they check if it is fungal or not? I mean under the microskope? Please keep me informed, warm hugs.

If it has not cleared up when I go back in 2weeks then they will have to do a skin biopsy. Which we all know hurts like hell. I have been trying to stay busy and positive. My surgeon told me that I am not allowed to have cancer again. It's just not going to happen. My radiation dr wants me to call her if I have any questions. I have some pretty awesome doctors. I will keep you posted.

Awesome doctors, indeed. Such specialists are like trasure to us, the ones who suffer. I hope you will not have to have a biopsy. It just cannot be IBC. Thanks for informing me, I keep you in my thoughts. Warmest hugs.

Had this same thing. Went to my Rads Dr., Surgeon, Onc Dr.. Went to dermatologist about rash on my leg. They swabed the open wound, eveybody thouht it was staff or mrsa. That way they dont have to do skin puncture. Culture came back clear of anything. No Dr. could ever figure it out, but after discussing it with my physical therapist we decided it was where the skin was thin from mastectomy and lymph node removal and it took almost 5 months to heal. FYI every Dr. had an opinion and wanted a test! I didn't do them. I took dermatologists advice (after the swab) and covered with with a Dermabond patch. I had to cut it to fit under my arm. It took almst 5 months to fill in and the scab to finally fall off. I do have IBC in addition to ILC. Good luck.
