My DH and I are taking a trip to New England in the fall. We'll be staying 10 - 14 days. We really haven't planned it at all, other than wanting to see the fall colors. We don't want to do a lot of driving, but could go to more than one state, since they're close together. What area(s) would you recommend for visiting? We're going in October. We like natural beauty, history, art. Thanks for any help you can give!

In October, the fall colors will be [most likely] in southern Vermont. Brattleboro, VT or Manchester, VT would serve as a great homebase. Manchester VT generally peaks around Columbus day to give you a timeline. Later in the month, you would need to be south of VT, earlier in the month, and you would want to be farther north.

Susan, thank you so much. Vermont is one of the places I was hoping to go if October wasn't too late. Would New Hampshire also have good colors in the first part of October?
