Nipple Sparing Prophylactic Surgery

I am BRCA+ and have decided to go through with removing/reconstruction but am on the fence about whether to have everything removed or do the nipple sparing procedure.  I am small and a small B cup so my dr. said I am a good candidate for it-from a cosmetic standpoint.  None of the flap procedures are an option-too small so I plan to do a saline implant.  I would appreciate any advice/thoughts you have on whether to spare the nipples or just "reconstruct" everything.  TIA!

I was able to spair only one of my nipples. I am so glad that I did. While that nipple will never "work", it makes that breast feel more like mine. I know I will have some challenges trying to construct a second one to match, but I do not regret my decision. Hope this helps!

I don't know what keeping the nips means in terms of risk with BRCA, but I kept mine with a preventative double mast for LCIS (later turned out to be ILC). I can tell you it means the world to me to have them. They "work" albiet a little too much sometimes (one like to be on a lot Undecided). I chose silicone because they feel a little more natural than saline. Plus they tend to ripple less. I am very thin skinned, so I can see ripples anyway. I just live with it. Fat grafting helps, but I'm not willing to have any more procedures at this time.

    Good luck =)
