Worried!!!

Hello, my name is Melissa.  A little about my journey.  I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008 at age 35.  The cancer was stage 1 with no lymph node involvement.  My cancer was aggressive.  I had a partial mastectomy, 33 radiation treatments and chemotherapy.  I continue to be on Femara and am having Zometa treatments every six months.  The oncologist was concerned about a distant cancer. I was the first in my family (paternal & maternal) to have any type of cancer.  My mother was diagnosed a year later with breast cancer.  Now my father has been diagnosed with sqaumous cell cancer of the tongue.  So now I'm an absolute basket case!!!  To top it off, I am having pain in my right arm and right leg.  The pain is now constant in my arm and sporadic in my leg.  The pain has recently woke me up during the night.  Now all I can think about is bone cancer.  I've tried researching the relation between all of this.  I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has a similar story or could relate in any way.  Thank you for listening!!!

Once we've had cancer, it's normal to worry about these types of aches and pains, and it's normal to think "Cancer!!".

The type of bone pain you describe could be caused by many things - most of them not being cancer!  But you need to find out what's behind the pain, because even if it's not cancer, it still might be a condition that can be treated or perhaps should be monitored.

I assume since you are still on Femara and are have Zometa treatments that you still see your oncologist.  Have you spoken to him or her about this?  I would think that your oncologist would want to check this out, doing whatever tests are necessary to hopefully rule out bone metastasis and determine what is it that's causing your bone pain.

You might also want to repost your question in this other forum on this discussion board:  Forum: Not Diagnosed with a Recurrence or Metastases but Concerned  Most of the people who post here in the High Risk forum are high risk but have not ever been diagnosed with breast cancer, whereas you are more likely to find other women who've had breast cancer and have similar concerns to yours in this other forum.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for replying to me!  I do still see my oncologist, however she doesn't know about my arm and leg pain yet nor about my dad just being diagnosed with cancer.  Thank you for your help :)
