I read an article that said woman with low Vitamin D are 3 time more likely to get TNBC. I was diagnosed a couple years ago with having very low Vitamin D. Doctor gave me a prescription to help increase it.I went in complaining of exhaustion. Anyone else have a similar experience?

    Hi Patti,

In fact, this can be a risk factor, according to the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Low Vitamin D Levels.

Also, President and Founder of Breastcancer.org, Dr. Marisa Weiss, wrote a Think Pink, Live Green Blog post on The Importance of Vitamin D.

We hope this helps, as you wait for the advice and experience from other members here!

I read that too. I was tested for my vitamin about 3 years prior to my diagnosis and my vitamin d level was fine. I am curious if it was low at my time of diagnosis. I take 2000 IU of vitamin d a day. I got it tested this week with my first round of blood work since chemo. Hoping that is normal as well as the other blood tests. I feel my anxiety creeping up with each day leading up to my dr appt.

I was diagnosed in July 2012. Two months prior to diagnosis I had a physical and bloodwork, and my Vitamin D was quite low. I was given a prescription to take for 2 months. I had no idea that low vitamin D was associated with breast cancer risk.
