FYI... I have met with my MO several times, but both these conversations took place over the phone. Weird that he would do that, but I was really glad the first time. The second time, not so much...

Melissa, is it hot in Calgary? That might be making the problem worse, if it is. Not that the info helps much, but there you go. Stay hydrated!

It's been on and off Steph.  I try to stay in front of a fan.  I have an appt with a clinic on Aug 2.  So I can get some answers then.  Here's hoping they can losen that rubber band feeling.

Crappy sleep last night.  Woke up 3/330 am to the crash of thunder.. this was no little storm either.  I think it planted itself right over my house just to wake me early on a Monday morning.  Ughhh I am so tired with a nice headache to go with it.  JUST when I was starting to feel almost normal.

Melissa-I hope you feel better! DAMN STORM!  I hate hate hate when I don't sleep good!  It makes everything that much worse!  Here's hoping you have peaceful sleep tonight.  By the way, do you have some sort of background noise in your bedroom?  Since all this has happened, I have 2 fans running wide open (we do have central AC) for noise only..I point them at the closet..but I sleep through just about everything with those.

Melanie-I must have missed follow up post about how your work went. I take from post everything ok?

I have the fan blowing on me on high all night.  Hot flashes suck!  I was up at 4:00 am to take more pain meds.  You know it's getting bad when I'm waking up to take them.  Three more!!!

Work is hard but its like riding a bike. Its physically hard to take care of patients that cant move themselves. Its emotionally hard to see someone so sick.

Gowith, you are almost done. Take all the pills thaat you need. I wish I could remember the name of these blue cool gel strip things they gave me to put on when it was open blisturs. Ask for them. I think I also used ice cause it at least numbed it and the silvadene creme. Praying for comfort for you.

    Healing hugs ladies.

I think I"m going to ask for silverdine cream tomorrow.  That arm crease is killing me and the lotion that worked in the middle of my chest isn't going to cut it because it's sticky.  Can't very well NOT use my arm.

Cyndie: When I met my husband they didn't have air conditioning and he had a box fan in his room. When we got married he had to have that box fan on high or he couldn't sleep. Now I am hooked. We have central air too, but that fan is sitting at the foot of our bed going wide open. It drowns out all the noise and we can sleep all night.

The only thing that I would worry about is not being able to hear if anyone breaks in on us. He says our dogs would take care of that. :)

So a week of antibiotics because one of the stiches in my port placement is infected.  Ughhh.  Not fun taking the stitch out either.  That was very painful.  Ativan would not have had time to kick in... which I threatened to take.  LOL

More storms tonight.  We just had a doozy about 8 pm.  Kids were up until after 10.  Lets hope they stay away tonight.  I need the sleep.  So with that short update..

    Love n Lite, g'night!

ps. I updated my caringbridge journal and posted it on FB.  I should add it to my siggy LOL

Add me to the "not sleeping well" list.  I'm now waking up in the middle of the night to take pain meds.  Haven't done that since right after surgery.

Hope both of you slept better last night.

Hey Gowith, I didnt sleep very well at all, could not get comfy in recliner or in the bed. The benedryl helped knock me out but I woke up several times tossing and turning. Having stomach upset today, oh joy.

Morning guys! Well, as they had to drain half the blood out of my body for this clinical trial..they accessed my port for the first time today. I was scared and felt urge to cry..but didn't.  Thank goodness, as it didn't really hurt ..except going in and out..she put some spray on that burned worse ..the whole thing was just freaky as hell.  I feel like since I have been through so many surgeries,etc..that I should be done with all.  I've gave them 3 months..too bad they didn't get their chemo/radiation,etc in..sick to death of freaky weird feelings or down right pain. Anyway...feeling that way and reality are too different things. I'm in a very crabby mood today. Wasn't until the whole port thing..no coffee thing. I feel like standing in the middle of my house and shouting every curse word Ive ever heard of!  lol.  So, now I am waiting on trial lady to call..she is coming from Greenville when she gets done with her patient so she can do the actual test. I guess Im going into work late as she hasn't called yet. Our company is great with time off for something like this..however, they have crappy rule where you can't use vacation/personal time the first 30 days when you get back from benefits. So days I'm off this month..no pay at all. I told my sup that this is stupidest rule Ive ever heard of..I don't get the why of it...she said she knew..and didn't know why either.

Melissa-Did they leave those stitches in past 2 weeks? I know my surgeon said they have to come out before or by 2 wks. or risk infection. I'd be raising hell if they did. Those antibiotics help a lot and I know you will feel better in no time!

I'm sleeping ok..help from PM something or another and my muscle relaxer. However, I wake up soooo sore..for some reason, in my sleep I turn over to mx side ..which prob wouldn't matter for a while..but sleep on it whole night. Ive started having the bear claw feeling when I get up out of bed..just not as bad..not NEAR as bad as after MX..but still. I've also been clinching my arms up, like you said Janet..and arms hurt. So much for muscle relaxers..lol.

Gowiththeflow and ckmoss- do you guys take Ativan? They can take away all my meds, but better not touch my Ativan :)

It helps with nausousness and anxiety, but most importantly, it allows sleep.

Frustration sets in yet again! Went to the BS today because I thought my drain was infected over the weekend. Had started on a two-week course of antibiotic on Sunday. She does not want the drain to come out yet (it's been 2 weeks yesterday for this second one!). Wants to wait until the drainage goes below 20cc per day for a few days (it has slowed substantially the past two days...maybe my body was producing extra because of the inflammation at the site?). But then drained the seroma on the other side....and got 550cc!Yell She said that since it's the second time that one had to be drained that I might have to have a drain put back in on that side too....I'm hoping that it has slowed down since that fluid accumulated over 2 1/2 weeks. I hate the drain and I hate the seroma! But I am more comfortable now. And, it occurred to me, that if I never developed a seroma then I never would have "met" you great ladies! I found this thread by doing a search for seromas Smile

    For Rhody!

I hope your drains slow down enough to have them removed.  550cc????  OMG, I can't imagine how painful that must have been.

Michele2013-I do have ativans here (was prescribed week before MX)..Im like you a half one puts me out. It has to be really bad day for me to take them..they really don't relieve anxiety unless you count in the uncon effect. Didn't know about the nausea part of it though.

Rhody=Janets a hoot isn't she..that was MY song! LOL..Have they not done the surgery on your for the seroma? You should tell them to do that, if they haven't. My surgeon says draining with needle is endless..just fills up again..says to do right you have to go in ..clean it all out , flush it..and redo incision using real stitches..I've had no trouble since mine..and mine was HORRIBLE. The only reason I had to stay in hospital was due to infection. Jeez..I hope this is over for you soon!

Haha Janet....you make me laugh! You really are a HOOT! My husband asked me what I was laughing at and I told him you posted a song for me about my seroma...of course he knew right away what it was. 550cc wasn't really painful but it was uncomfortable. I'm still pretty numb in the area.

CK the BS has not talked about surgery for the seroma. The drain is actually on the side where I had surgery twice...once for the mastectomy and then the second emergency surgery. During that one she did irrigate it and cauterize it. I'm hoping the other seroma will not come back. The fluid accumulation occured over2 1/2 weeks and it did seem to slow down. BS will be calling me back in a few days to see how I am. She is such an angel...so compassionate and caring. She feels bad that I have been having so much trouble.....but she laughed and said "yep it always happens to the nurses and the doctors." She won't keep draining with needles. Her rule of thumb is two needle aspirations and then the drain goes back in. Sunday is my wedding anniversary. Hope I don't get a drain for a present! I probably will......got the cancer dx for Mother's Day, BMX and subsequent emergency surgery for Father's Day, so it would just make sense....

Wow ladies I am sorry that you are having a rough time. Ck they make a cream to put on your port a half hour prior and I also put it on 5 minutes prior. Its some kind of lidocaine. Ask for a prescription. It was much better than that spray. That spray burned.

Gowith, I remember the name of those gel patches. Vigilon. They were kept in the fridge and were heaven to put in my armpit and collar bone area and under breast which was where I was burned the worse.

I think everybody should drink a dose cup of nyquil with there meds and I bet it will help you sleep.

Hope evryone sleeps better and has a great day tomorrow. Healing hugs

My stitches, from what I understood, were supposed to be desolvable! I don't think they are and I'm a little choked.  I get to see my onco thurs and I am gonna have him take a look at the others since the doc at the ER last night was too chicken to do anything.  OY!

Otherwise.. hanging in.. hanging out.. hanging on!

Love n Light ladies and g'night!
