I have dcis in my left breast and would like to have a BMX with implants. The surgeon told me if I want a double I need authorization from the oncologist. My surgery for a single mastectomy is scheduled for next week.

I have not even met with him yet and am afraid I am running out of time.

Do you have an appointment scheduled? Personally, if it were me, and I was positive I wanted a BMX, I would hold off. Physically and mentally, one surgery would be so much easier.

Why would you need authorization from an onc?  The Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998 covers a bilateral MX if that is what the patient wants.
