TDM1 Trial in Canada
Dear Sisters in Canada,
I have read so many successful stories about the TDM1 trial on this board in US for BC patients with Her2+ diagnoses. Does anyone know if we have this trial in Canada or not? I am in Winnipeg and would also like to know if it is possible to go to another city (like Toronto) if that city doctors participate in this trial. I am Stage IV BC with ER-, PR-, but Her2 +++. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Grace!
Yes!! I'm being considered for this trial. Here's the link to the Canadian Trial website: http://www.canadiancancertrials.ca/
You can search by cancer, drug, location for other trials... If you search by Cancer Type =breast and Drug=Trastuzumab you'll get the trial.

Duh -- here's a website for Manitoba clinical trials: http://www.cancercare.mb.ca/home/cancer_research/clinical_investigations_office/what_is_a_clinical_trial/

Hi Grace,
Thanks for the post,
Any additional news re TDM-1, any hope from Health Canada to get approval,
I am stage IV ER-/PR- and HERS neu positive plus liver and brain mets, currently on Xeloda 2000mg a day, 2 wks on / 1 wk off, the meds not working, need to do radiation to control brain mets, hope that TDM-1 can help, but the drug still not approved by Health Canada, FDA approved on Feb 22, 2013, I am sure many in the States will benefit from it, I am praying the Canadian government can act faster, I am praying very hard for everyone. God please help. Thank you ! -
Hello Everyone,As far as I know TDM1 was approved in Canada for first line treatment of HER 2+ BC. My mom is on her 3rd round of treatment for the disease and we want TDM1 but it is only approved for first line treatment. Her onc is appealing to Roche for off label use but we will have to pay out of pocket which is very expensive. Does anyone know of any options for us getting help with funding? I was not able to find any studies going on for 3rd line treatment with this drug:(
Thank you:)
