have completed (4) rounds of Cytoxan & Taxotere with my last on June 19th.  It's been 4 weeks and the swelling in my ankles and my right forarm (the side the remove lymph nodes) is out of control. This is the worst from all the treatments. The swelling would start about 2 weeks after the treatment and then go back to normal within a few days. I'm extremey active; working out daily, exercise/weight classes, runner, cyclist and healthy eater, drink buckets of water. I continue to workout as I'm not in any pain, but we are heading to Florida on our family vacation and I'm concerned with the heat.

I elevate my feet every night and when I wake, the swelling is gone, almost completely normal, but by the end of the day...WOW.

Is this normal after Chemo?, When will this swelling stop?

Kelco, chemo definitely can cause swelling, and unfortunately in some women has been the trigger for LE.

If you can, can you see a LE therapist ? Get measures and evaluated?

    Are you flying to Florida?

It's been crazy hot all over the country right now, but anything that overwhelms a compromised lymph system will lead to swelling and sometimes to LE. There is latent LE where you hold fluid but don't swell, and then stage 1 where you swell but it can go down with elevation .

LE is edema, but a specific edema of protein rich lymph fluid and that stagnant fluid leads to inflammation, progressive changes and a risk of infection.
