Alone and scared.
Hi everyone. I just moved to a new state and town, and before I could even get settled and make friends or find a job or even an apartment, I was diagnosed with IBC. Now, I am trying to manaage all of this all by myself and it's tough. I am scared and lonely.

Thank you Cindy. yes, I've noticed a lot of wisdom, a lot of willingness to share, a lot of good people ...really need face to face human contact with other IBCer's. I don't know how you all do it. Sometimes I dream of being a driver for Road to Recovery American Cancer Society and giving back to someone else. I visualize myself in that place. But, now, what will I do with my life? Where will I work? Who will hire me? when will I feel well enough to work? Everything is falling apart and I have no one. My mom passed. My family is far away. I don't now how to find friends. Doesn't that sound stupid? but, I don't. usually you make friends at work or school. I am so lonely.

Sandy, what are some of your favorite things to do/hobbies & what town do you live in?
-
I'm not understanding - you are in some 'strange town' without somewhere/apt. to live in? No job/friends/anything? Go 'home' to where your family/ friends are for support.
- Talk to the BC Navigator at your Center (they are a world of support and knowledge),
- Contact local Women's Shelters, contact your Church if you are a member of an organized religion (even if you aren't there areresourmces through many of them).
- Are you a Veteran? Contact VA ASAP - there is help and a lot of support through VA! If you are I will be happy to help you find who to contact if you can't find them.
Driving for Road to Recovery is great BUT 'you' have to take care of yourself first. I was blessed to have been able to drive a fantastic young (35-ish) man to 35 rads about a yr after my DX after his recurrance DX. Long story short - It was easy for me to do his drives as he was staying on Base and and as Hubby is retired USN - I can just drive on base without being 'signed in'. F
