Finished course of antibiotics for a UTI yesterday. Sure glad to have that out of the way before surgery and catheter!
-
At the beach and lovin it. Makes me want to be a no show for surgery on Wednesday. LOL
I think Dr Kline will lipo/fat graft from thighs this time.
I wonder if I wore a compression wet suit if I could still swim after surgery.
I hope it not a full six weeks before swimming. I guess I will have to settle for beach walks in water ankle deep. .... -
pinkheart..I am singing the beach boys song "beach baby beach baby give me your hand" Enjoy! Writing all these restaurants down for our Aug visit. Hoping I feel good enough to get out!

Mags,
Marty is definitely a great tour guide and support for BC patients to CHS.
Stopped by to check out Morgan Creek Grill at marina after body surfing all afternoon. All showered now and heading back there for food and sunset. Thanks Marty!
I see the marina has kayak tours, too. .... Wish I had some mula for that! -
Pink - if your feeling it in the morning Morgan Creek makes a great Bloody. Had one after Kayaking recently. Beach weather is finally perfect. Tomorrow should be great. MIT you haven't tried it yet, the local stop for breakfast is Seabiscuit. It is on J C Long right near Front Beach. Good food. Reasonable. Always a line so go early. Maggie - you can walk there from The Palms.
-
Marty, always a line or packed with cars when we were there in Jan- Feb - DH is a big breakfast guy and kept trying to get me there, me, not so much - but now thinking about it I should have gone just to check it out!!
Pink, not sure but think all open wounds need to be closed? Hoping it won't take long - but did read areas that have been bruised from fat grafting need to no be sunburned because of darkening??? Was reading discharge papers from last stage. I don't know where he will take it from on me, would think lots to choose from. I took before pics as I know I balloon up after they pump the fluid in me.
We shall see!? -
Agree with Marty about seafood options. Heard there's a new seafood place on IOP, but can't remember name of it! If you have time and bucks, 82 Queen downtown is great (wonderful she crab soup). Also have heard that Coast is good but haven't dined there. Good food at fairly reasonable prices at Burton's Grille at Towne Center in MP.
-
I didn't suggest the new place on IOP as it is very $$$$, though the owner/chef has a great reputation. It is called Coda del Pesce and features an Italian seafood menu. Hank's downtown is also great seafood and the best bread pudding. Not sure how Salt at Station 22 is on Sullivan's, but should be good though $$$. Co-owner also owns the Boathouse. The biggest problem with our area is the extreme number of really good restaurants, though price can be a challenge.
-
Ok, I'm feeling stupid today as I have searched all over the NOLA center's web page for for the Ask the Doctor questions and just can't find it. I'm sure it's right in front of my face, but could someone send me the direct link? Thanks! Beth

Thank you jacee!

Hope all had a relaxing holiday! Finally some sun today after a week of rain here in Tennessee.
Pinkheart, Catie2013, and Sewaneegirl- thinking of you all as you prepare for your surgeries this week.
I'm one week out from stage 2 and doing great. Dr. Kline worked on my donor site scar and did some lipo/fat grafting to fill out my flap. The itchy feeling at my incision sites is driving me crazy.
Take care all. -
Slh- the itching was a sign to me that it was healing, but only a week out might either be you are a quick healer or need to ask Dr K or Chris what to do if anything! You might just email and ask Chris and Dr K -
Thanks for the good wishes for next week, this will be my follow up to your surgery or my 2b, good to see the light at the end of the tunnel, right???
Hugs all - -
Dr. K told me that he did the inplants but not at the same time as the flap. I think I'll consider it.
-
Pink, you are in my prayers for a successful op tomorrow and for no complications!!!! Color, ok, comps NO!!!
See you soon!!!!
Hugs -
Pink, Catie and Sewanee, Good Luck this week, will be thinking of all you brave strong women. Please keep us posted when you are feeling up to it.
-
Thinking of all going in this week. You are all pros and will do great. Let us know how you all are doing. (((Hugs)))
-
Pink, if you got a hotel for anyting under $100 during July...."you done good"!
I know Catie was just joking about a house on the beach for BC surgeries, but I'd actually thought about a condo & then renting it cheaply enough for all us gals having to spend time in IOP! I'm surprised some doctor has not already done that!
-
ketch...what a great idea. I looked at homes/condos and settled on a hotel that is oceanfront even tho I did not get a room that was. In Chicago we had to spend about $260 a night with taxes for 12 nights...ouch! That is what happens when you only have a week to plan and memorial day was in the middle of the stay.

Had a very nice pre-op appointment with Dr. Kline and his operating room RN, Chris today.
Plans have changed. He is not going to do any lipo>fat grafting this time. Catie and Sewanee, I feel so left out now of our color comparisons. LOL
Remember I have precious little fat so Dr K wants to wait and use the BRAVA method on me, and then do the fat grafting in October or November. I think I will be his first patient for this method. (Obviously, I didn't eat enough fried chicken
....)
So tomorrow he is going to do work on my badly damaged radiated deformed right breast and axilla by letting down an incision, and hopefully alleviate the PAIN I have been dealing with from my rare and very severe axillary cording beast. He is going to open up small area to cut the cord where it is originating in my chest wall and also take a piece for pathology. He is also going to remove some of my skin paddles.
I have been playing in the ocean for past 4 days straight, and my right axilla and arm are really aching. But it was worth it!
Surgery tomorrow morning at 8 am. Talk to you all later.
-
Haven't been here in a while, have a lot of catching up to do!Pink, thinking of you and all the others who are having surgery.Every day I have sent positive thoughts to everyone.I have a quick question..which I am sure I have asked before...will I be able to wear super big tee shirts after surgery?Turns out I will be staying at my cousin's for ten days after,I do not want to bring a lot of clothes and what I do bring must be easy to wash and dry....I practiced putting on one of my husbands big shirts....I can do it without raising my arms at all...so I could wear my cousin's tees while I am there...what do you all think??
-
Panda - if your husband has some old button front dress shirts, they would probably be easier to get in and out of at your cousins. 2 or 3 of them should last with a wash or two. Bring some large safety pins so you can have flexibility in dealing with the drains.
I sure wish there could be a condo at the beach for recon patients. Unfortunately, the insurance rates for those living on the island are astronomical. Like you really can't imagine.
Best wishes to Pink, Catie and Diedre. This will be a great week and you will all sail through.
-
Thoughts and prayers going out to everyone going in this week. May this recovery be the easiest of them all!
Cheers,
Davy -
Thanks, everyone! Looking forward to getting past it but a bit nervous, as always. Your prayers and warm wishes are appreciated.
Pink - I am praying for you before going to sleep.
Note to self: never promise a big project when doing multiple surgeries. I just finished making a christening gown for a friend - and it literally spanned my second and third surgeries. Just finished!
Deidre -
Deidre, saw the dress on FB- looks BEAUTIFUL and certainly an heirloom! Wow - what talent!
Pink - prayers with you, Deidre and with you! About to start the trek to CHS - DD, SIL, Gk's - thanks all for prayers, much appreciated! Still a bit anxious, but thinking positive.
Pink, ok so no color, that's ok - we still love you :P
Marty - we had two condos in HH that we rented out, after 2004 our insurance DOUBLED - yikes!!! Sold just before the bubble burst:(. Nice but hard to have insurance double, even though HH didn't get hit- all ocean (and FL) property had insurance issues!!!!
Hugs all -
Sending healing thoughts to all of you undergoing surgery this week. Will soon be behind you:)
My MRI scan showed a small benign cyst. I'm very thankful and happy and now can't wait to get on to stage 2. -
Pink, hope it all went well, healing thoughts to you.
Catie, your next, and you Deidre. It seems like it was just yesterday we were there together. Cherrie was right, you are all old pros at this, smooth sailing ahead.
-
All ....
Surgery was only 2-3 hours long.
Bummer, ended up with one drain after all.
Again, even though my right radiated breast barely touched, it was swelling and bleeding and Dr K came back to hospital and wanted to take me back into OR.
Unfortunately, I had just force feed myself some dinner and he could not do surgery then and now has me on NPO (no food or drink) until morning because he may be sliding me in before you Catie for a quick surgery tomorrow morning.
Otherwise, I only feel pukey when I stand and walk, which i am only allowed to do with nurse helping.
My nurses, Joan and Adrianne have been the best! And Dr Kline, too.
Wishing the best to all of you, too!
Blessings! -
Pink, I was given a heads up that he may have to push my surgery later b/c of someone, sorry it has to be you!!! So sorry!!!
Hoping you do better with next procedure in the a.m!
I love Joan - she is such a sweetheart - hope she is there for me too!
Big hugs and prayers! -
Catie
Joan will be working tomorrow, but has a shorter shift.
My night nurse just said I will be having another surgery for sure in morning. At 7:00 am. Well at least i dont have a 45 minute drive in morning..
So i guess i will be staying an extra night now?
