Sounds great Cyndie! My husband is golfing tomorrow, and I haven't decided what kind of trouble I'm wanting to get into, so we shall see how I feel in the morning.
-
So sorry ladies I have not been writing my support, but you have all been in my prayers.
My best friend of 28 years, her only child just had a baby on Friday. A little girl named Adley May. They had to do a c-section after 19 hours and only getting to 3 cm.
Monday I had surgery for my seroma. Wow has this hurt a lot! PS told dh he had to really get in there and scrape.... Of course this is the same side that has been scraped at lumpectomy then at the mastectomy to get good margins. Took forever to get pain under control then my bp dropped. Get home and I am so sick. I have pretty much taken pain meds and slept till today.
My freezer and refrigerator went out on me yesterday. Dh went back on the road Wednesday so not having a very good week. I got to throw everything away out of both the fridge and freezer today. Thankfully my son is here to help me.
Going back to bed and staying there for a while and just keep watching all the Harry Potter movies over and over again............
Hugs to all -
I forgot, I am 50 and was dx at 50.
-
Oh Isellrejer, what a crappy time you've had. Glad you are home, hope you get a new fridge soon, and are feeling better!
-
Ck: That meal sounds so good and healthy too!! I screwed up tonight. I had a gift certificate for that my co-workers gave me to a small local restaurant and me and the DH had a big steak and baked potato.
Annie that is great that you got to excercise. I cut two acres of grass today on a riding lawnmower and I thought I was going to pass out.
My TEs are at 700ccs each and I look like I got huge boobs at the top of my chest!! I am so scared when he puts the implants in they are going to stay up there like that. -
Jerri-I am sooo sorry to hear that you have had such a awful time!! Just remember every day brings more strength. It took me about 9 days before I felt normal. My surgeon said its very hard on your body to keep going through surgery. He is correct. I had mine on Friday..when I came home Sunday..I was weak as water..I felt like I was already on chemo the first 5 days home..fatigue like I have never felt in my life. I hate you are in pain too. My prayers for quick healing!
Cyndy-Lets hope they don't stay up like that..you might shoot someones eye out! lol
-
"shoot someone's eye out" LOLOLOLOL
So, my friend told me yesterday that she was off from work today and wanted to come to radiation with me. We planned to go to lunch afterwards. She was at her in laws yesterday (which always has great stories to follow) and didn't calll last night, and hasn't answered her phone all day (both cell and home phone). I think I need to drive over there and make sure everything is okay. Just so strange for her to not call. I know she gets migraines but I would have thought she would have texted me or something. /sigh/
-
Yeah CK, mine!!! lol
-
If this is completely out of character for her, I would go check. You never know.
-
She's alive. Migraine and fatigued from being out in the sun yesterday. She was diagnosed with lymes disease last week and shouldn't have been in the sun. At least she knows I care.
-
Good evening gals! I'm glad that everyone seems to have had a good day. I think I went go go go from morning till night today. WOW.. tomorrow I'm sleeping. and resting.. and same with Sunday. I had to go visit the Vampires today for pre port blood. They were nice to me and only poked me once.. or I would have had to stake them in the heart.
Just a quick check in tonight with you. sweet dreams for everyone and that you all have an uneventful weekend!
-
Good Morning Girls,
Well the hubby and I are off to drive back home today, taking my mountain of pillows with me for the two hour drive. We will only be there overnight and then head back down tomorrow. I slept in the bed last night and it was the best sleep Ive had in a month, wish I could have stayed there all day! Please pray for us as we are ha ing some financial difficulties right now and Im stressed to the max. Thanks and I hope everyone has a great day! -
Prayers for you sweetpickle. Hope you have a comfortable ride! Glad you slept well!
-
Absolutely! Many prayers for you, Heather and for everyone else.
Lisa, how are you feeling today?
Talk about sleep, I think last night was the first night in a long time where I slept without waking up once. And when I did, I was on my side. It wasn't uncomfotable and I am so happy. Small triumphs like this mean a lot.
Ann -
Cyndie, did you know that your cocker spaniel/avatar picture is messed up?
I had a dream last night that I ran into Ann in downtown Charlevoix. We had a nice little reunion. Ann, are you sure you're not from Michigan? *grin*
I'm off to work on party preparations for tomorrow. Everyone have a GREAT day! -
ckmoss, just wondering how your juice drink worked out? I have been thinking about getting one of those juicers, just wondering if it's worth it~but buying pre-made juice smoothies gets pretty expensive!
I loved your comment about singing to Gloria Estevan.....it made me realize that I have not sung along to a song since my surgery nearly a month ago (and I always sing along!). It made me smile....something I also have not done much of lately. I have had lots of issues with seromas and am getting very discouraged. Looks like I will need to have a drain put back in on Monday or Tuesday.....not what I want but I'm tired of going in every two days to get drained!
Happy weekend to everyone, and looking forward to getting to know you all better!
Martha
-
Martha, the drains are worth it. Mine is draining between 35-40 every 24 hours. Today is the first day since they went back in that I feel like I will live through it. Finally got me a shower too.
Heather, you are in my prayers. Financial problems on top of everything else does not help. Believe me I know. We are going through them ourselves. I think most of us are. As my parents used to say, when it rains it pours. Chin up though, we are all alive to hold our loved ones! To see them smile is what keeps us going sometimes. I am thankful to have this board to go to and sometimes just read. A laugh goes such a long way right now.
Thank you everyone for just being there for each one of us. -
Hi girls....I had chemo yesterday and all went well. I'm such a wimp when they go to hook up to my port. I close my eyes and squeeze whoever's hand is around. It never hurts because I put on the numbing cream, but just in case I need to prepare myself.
I'm having my chemo at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, it's a wonderful place and I couldn't ask for nicer nurses. The way they have the chairs arranged each person has a little alcove..you see the other patients but are not on top of them. I was looking around yesterday and noticed that I was the youngest person around. I looked at my husband and said do you notice anything strange....he looked at me and said "you mean that your the youngest person by 25 years...I was hoping you wouldn't notice" I made eye contact with a few and they smiled at me as if to say "you poor thing". I just gave them a smile saying all is well.
I wore a hat yesterday that made everyone laugh. It was a baseball hat that has a picture of a screw and a pink ribbon......SCREW cancer!!! When I saw it on line I just had to by it...subtle but to the point!!!
I hope everyone has a good weekend..not sure how often I will be on depends on the pills....if they knock me out. So far I'm feeling pretty good!! Figured out I'm drinking more than gallon of water a day....I think it is really helping!!!

Good Afternoon Friends! We got back from the lake around noon and I had to hit the couch as we left at 5:30am..(I swear we need a eye rolling icon!). My husband does love to fish! We went with my Great Aunt and her two sons. Her sons' I havent seen since I was little. The are about 5-10 yrs older than me. We went with them as was new lake way up in Gods' country and they were going to show us this time. Let me tell you..I was not expecting to but had a great time! They are realllllll country good people...I mean bone country mountain people..even hard for me to understand as their drawl is soooo country..not a lot of education either..but boy!! were they funny! They kept us laughing with antidotes about fishing and when one would catch a small fish..they joked so much I had tears in my eyes! I love that! I told my husband that shows you can never judge people..they are definately backwoods (kinda like the Darlin Gang in Andy Griffith) but the are good people, not bad mean bone in their body.
Steph-How does my avatar look to you? I can see fine.
Martha-Welcome to our group! The juicer worked out great! I used recipe from Dr Oz green drink..only change I made was he calls for spinach and I used kale (I heard that had more vitamins and most juice recipes call for kale). Theres so much fruit in it you can't taste the kale or carrots..I also put a bit of ginger root in mine..as helps with stomach queasy (antibiotics im STILL on make me queasy). Its, to me, definatly worth it..I feel like Im getting more vitamins and it did make me feel better..energy wise. I bought most of my fruit/veggies at produce stand in farmers market so only spent like 18.00 on everything..only pineapple I got from store..and bought the cored and peeled..but still together in a fresh hunk..then cut that in two. Martha, have you had surgery for your seromas yet? My nurse said that she had never seen one come back when they had been opened up /recleaned. Jerri and I both did that..and its way better. My surgeon wouldn't do the needle drain, says it just fills back up and also you are opening yourself up for infection. (Ive had infection..YOU DO NOT WANT THAT). Im sending prayers that this ends for you soon!
Lisa-You are so funny! I am going to get me one of those hats!!
Heather-You are sooo in my prayers! I understand about financial..Ive called every Dr bill (and have only got in first 2 surgeries..sigh) Ive got in and said 20.00 mth..gonna take me forever..but it'll pass. We've had hard time paying reg bills..have done a lot of pushing out..one loan we had..we put in for the insurance part of it..and that insurance co has been paying that bill..Thank Heavens! I will be praying for you..Also, have a great ride and...
GREAT NEWS ABOUT THE GOOD NIGHT SLEEP EVERYONE!!
-
Lord what a long post! lol
-
Hi Sister Warriors. I love reading about everyone's steps forward. Run4Us, so glad chemo #2 is behind you!!! Yea!!!! Hope the next 3 days are uneventful.
Heather, the financial stuff can be so overwhelming. Sometimes I have to just talk myself off of what I call the "freak out" ledge and keep reminding myself I'm getting out of this with my life and I'll do my best to figure out how to pay the medical bills off over time. You are empathetically hugged from here.
Have a fabulous day, Ladies!
Welcome Martha! That's my sister's name. You rock! -
Good Afternoon gang,
I'm tired today.. it's for sure gonna be a rest weekend that's for sure. I have been reformatting a friends computer because.. well lets say I'm the only one around that won't take a month to do and is the cheapest (meaning free LOL). Good thing I have time on my hands and can do it sitting on my butt
sweet.. your in my prayers, money stress on top of sick stress is not good for any of us. I pray for peace and that everything will fall into place for you. I hope you had a great trip.
oh Ann.. isn't it those little things that make us so happy. Speaking of little things, today I was able to shower and I was able to stand up straight to wash my hair. NOT bent over like I usually am! Whoo hoo!! Here's a glass to all the little things!
Steph.. I can't wait to hear all about your party! have fun!!
Welcome Martha.. have a happy weekend
Run.. glad your first day seemed to go well. I too am a wimp, so your not the only one. That's one of my fears so to speak is all the "oh you poor thing" looks from everyone else in the room if I'm the youngest. I get my port in on Tuesday.. scared to death!
Love n hugs to everyone today, with a wonderful weekend for all!
-
Ladies, make sure you all talk to the social worker at your hospital. Between the freaky smiles she gave me, she did mention that they can find ways to work with you financially or they can point you in the direction of help financially.
-
Melissa-Hope you get some good rest and zzzzz's! And, I hope the port goes well for you! After the hell I've been through with IV's and blood letting...it was worth the 3 days of pain (if you have a Dr that will give you vicodin, I think will help better..percocets and def lortabs..just kinda take the edge off). I'm going to be happy I have it come chemo time! I'll be starting right after you on (hopefully) the 25th.
Janet-You never fail to make me smile , if not LOL..I bet your friend was touched you checked on her and I'm glad she is ok.
Martha,Annie, Ann, Casey, Steph, Jerri- I hope ya'll had a good day and have a restful night!
Heather- Heres to another good night sleep and hope the trip went well!
Lisa-I'm assuming you are sleeping off your chemo now..hope next 3 days go easy.
-
Exhausting day. House work, laundry, trip to town for supplies and groceries, trip to TRaverse City (50 miles) for specialty cupcakes (our only real splurge for the party), back home to more laundry... Now I'm in my chair and don't plan on budging for at least a half hour. After that, I'm still going to take it easy, but I MIGHT be persuaded to move., MAYBE.
Martha, this is a wonderful group of ladies, and very knowledgable due to the variety of treatments we've undergone. I look forward to getting to know you, too!
Is anyone else having trouble with Cyndie's avatar? It almost looks like the pic is still there, in the upper left corner, and the rest is blocks of grey and black.
Lisa, so happy for you that the first treatment went ok. Try to think of those looks you get as support instead of pity, like Anne said.
Heather, I completely get where you're coming from. Luckily, my dh has a good, well paying job this summer. I took one of my checks and used it just for medical bills. We do have insurance, but it's a high deductible plan. We had to come up with $4,000 and now insurance is paying 100%. Thank goodness! Of course, we were on the same insurance last year when I had my first battle with this beast. I only recently paid those off!
Jerrie, my fridge went out this week, too! I lost everything in the fridge, but my dh was able to fix it when he came home. Last thing we need right now is for major (expensive) appliances to go bad! I hope you had some help cleaning up the mess! 😥
Has it been 30minutes yet? I need too do more laundry! -
Martha, welcome aboard. I've only been posting on this thread for a couple of months and I feel like I've known these beautiful ladies all my life.
Steph, I got a kick out of your dream. I've been to almost every state in the US but Michigan. Guess I need to head that way.
I am still serious about a get together, although it may have to be a ways off yet. Well for me anyway!
I spent the afternoon helping my crazy and creative girlfriends set up for my itty bitty party which is tomorrow. I think it's the talk of the town.
Ann -
LOLOL. Still looking forward to a story or two and some pics of the itty bitty party.
Today I made up for the running around from the last two days. I woke up early in a fit of coughing, laid down for a nap and slept several hours. Woke up about 3:00 had something to eat, watched tv for an hour, then laid down again and just woke up at 8:30.
Who wants to part all night with me?
-
Welcome Martha, you couldn't have come to a better place. Everyone here is so nice.
Steph: don't over do it! Make sure you get plenty of rest.
Lisa I'm glad everything went well with your Chemo.
Ck: I totally know what you mean about country folk. I got them in my family too. So down to earth and would give you the shirt off their back.
Well we made to the beach. Sitting out on the porch watching all the golfcarts whizzing by.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I hope to be back on soon. -
Chinneymae, SO jealous you are at the beach. Three weeks from today I leave for my vacation. CANNOT wait!
-
Go: It's really so peaceful. I hope you have a great time when you go on your vacation.
