New Gummy Bear Tear Drop Silicone Impants - anyone have them?

Lilithmoon,
Congratulations on the new girls!
Mine are still changing for the better everyday. Pecs have finally relaxed enough so that I can actually do a "boob move" party trick.....hehe.....and I went swimming on Monday with no pain!
There is still minor tightness, mostly along the IMF, but each day things improve.
It was a tough road, but I am happy I stuck with it. Hope you feel the same!

G - good to hear that you're feeling better and better. It's amazing really, I mean the whole process, we've all been through so much but we're feeling whole again.

Speaking of restrictions and sleeping. I had the Mentor CPG (gummy bear) implant two weeks ago on June 13, 2013. This is my 3rd reconstructive attempt. The first two were smooth rounds that just didn't work as they could not match the projection of my natural breast (unilateral mx). So yes, I went thru the awful TE expansion process AGAIN for 10 weeks and then the exchange
I have some questions. My PS is extremely conservative and wants me to sleep in a recliner for 6 weeks so that I cannot roll onto my side? Is this normal? The last two weeks have been awful trying to sleep on my back - we finally went out and bought a new recliner today.
At what point in time can you actually sleep in bed on your side. I do not see him again until 3 months after my surgery and until that time, the only exercise I can do is walk.
So - do all these restrictions eventually get lifted? And yes, I am extremely pleased with the outcome so far!
Thanks
-
I don't know if it's the usual way of doing things but I find putting pillows by my sides helps me keep sleeping on my back. 6 weeks seems like a long time, I would transition to my side when my boobs stop hurting - that's what I did with my 1st implant - I'm a unimx too. You might want to get clarification on the matter. Best to you - glad you're happy with the results!

Thank you, Cathyann, for the words of wisdom! I'm exactly 2 weeks post exchange and I do feel much better than I did last week. For whatever reason (mostly due to my impatience, I'm sure), I expected instant relief once the TEs were out. Unrealistic given what my body has been through. They're still a little tight and heavy, but I feel them less and less. I'm sure changing my mindset helped, too.
Sleep is a bitch for me, too. I'm a side-sleeper and can't seem to get comfortable in that position. I know that will change. I was able to sleep in my regular position with the TEs after a couple of months. I also had a stich 'rise' to the surface. Ugh. I tried clipping it myself which was quite a scene, but had my last follow-up appt. with my PS yesterday, so he took care of it for me.
Good luck to all and THANK YOU for all of the encouraging words and advice. This site is a life-saver!

BTW, I met a woman and her sister at my PS appt. who traveled all the way from the Phillipines to have her surgery. A DM and reconstruction last Friday since she can only stay in the states for a limited time. I could tell by the way she walked that her surgery was recent and could see her 'holding' her drains. I flat-out asked and was able to tell her that it WILL get better and that she WILL feel 'normal' in time. They were so sweet and grateful that someone understood what she was going through and could (hopefully) lift her spirits. I told her about this site and how strong you all were. I can't imagine having to travel halfway around the world for good care. Made me even more grateful and thankful ...

I was told no side sleeping it can cause the implant to turn..

Reading everyone's posts helps me get through these days.
I am 2 weeks post surgery now and the implant is feeling better. Too tender in the inframammary fold and base of the breast area still to were any type of cami or bra, but wasn't able to wear one with the TE's either. Since this was my second round with TE's, he had to reshape the pocket before surgery and then do some work on that area of the pocket during replacement with the Mentor CPG's. He went with the Mentor instead of the Allergan 410s in order to get the higher profile needed to match the "natural" breast. First round of TEs PS only expanded to 210ccs, used round implants, and my reconstructed breast had only about 1/2 the projection of the other side. This time, changed PS and was filled to 520ccs before the 390cc CPG implant was placed. Looks so much better!
Chris - have you tried a recliner, not the best solution for me, but I was in total agony trying to sleep in bed either on a bed wedge or flat and the recliner has made it a bit more bareable. Sleep is still my biggest nightmare (no pun intended). Main problem for me with sleeping in the recliner is that my tailbone gets really sore from the pressure. So I am counting down the days - or should I say weeks - until I can crawl back in my own bed and sleep on my side again! Only 4 more weeks to go
So those who are now able to sleep on their side, do you use a pillow to support the "uphill" breast while you are sleeping?
Another question - are any of you back to full activity yet, running, Yoga, aerobic classes, working out the upper body, etc?

atouch..whete in nc are u? i had restr for 6 wks and niw still no pec work. i was sore at imf, but found a prettu comfy cotton bra that ps ok'd..kinda uncomfortable at first, but then good.! i had pain woth side sleepung too..until about 8 wks..i slept on my back initially as i did with my TEs, but haad ni restr to not sleep in my side. using pillows to prop on semi side helps!
-
atouchbetter: I've tried the recliner too, but for me, I'm more comfy in my own bed..even if I can't sleep. I do sleep with five pillows..three behind me and one on each side of me and eventually I do fall asleep. But I still only get 4 to 5 hours a night. I was and always will be a side sleeper. I have started excercise (on total gym) just on my lower half( per PS ) and it does make me feel better knowing I'm at least working part of me. You should ask your PS what he/she thinks, if you can exercise yet. Maybe you can at least start walking. Your just so fresh out of surgery yet, but they say that your body will tell you when your ready to start "doing things" more and more everyday.
I too have the Mentor's and I love them, I'm just having problems with the stitches comes through. My body seems to be rejecting them.. On antibiotics again and I guess time will tell.
-
I'm just walking a lot. I don't seem to have a full range of motion in my arms. I'm only two weeks out of my revisions so I'm going to give it some time. Stretching feels really weird. Surgical tape came off yesterday, no more horrible itching. Both breasts are still pretty sore (gummy in non-cancer breast) and swap for gummy in IDC breast. Still super hard sleeping on my back. Woke up on my side, no pain...
-
Sorry about, no city mamatwinz - still working on getting my profile right
I'm in Brevard, NC - where are you? It's the elastic and/or the stitching over the elastic on the bra that gets me - even like a coobie bra doesn't work. What kind of bra did you get and does it have elastic?
Since, we bought the recliner, I'm sort of committed to it Cathyann - I tried all sorts of things for the first 10 days, a wedge pillow, pillow stacked up like you suggested, flat on my back but too much back pain. At least with the recliner, I can manage to stay there about 6 or 7 hours and my back still hurts all day, but not as unbearable as it does when I try to sleep in the bed.
I love to walk and that's been my go to since the TEs were implanted. But, of course as life would have it, my right foot has been very painful the last week and it has been hard to walk. So off to a special shoe store today that has podiatrists on staff to get that resolved - LOL. My daughter is getting married in August so I need to not get fat from all this inactivity!! Still need to fit into that special dress I bought!
BTW, if any of you have foot pain in the ball of your foot or on the top of the foot near your toes, I am a Reflexologist and the area associated with the chest and breast is the ball of the foot area - mostly on the top of the foot, but of course what occurs on the top is reflected through the entire foot. So, I am not suprised I am having issues with my right foot since it's my right breat.
Lilithmoon, the PS told me that he didn't want me doing any lower body stuff - even riding a recumbent bike because the "temptation is to grab the handles with your hands", but I think I may join the gym here in my community and see what I can work out on my own. I am pretty aware of my body and make sure I'm taking care of my new girl.
Another suggestion, if any of you know a good massage therapist, they are worth their weight in gold! I go every week for a massage and my back (and my foot) feel so much better afterward. She is very experienced and can release all the tight back and neck muscles with me lying on my back - plus it feels sooooo good!
-
ROFL I can do the boob trick too - my hubby thinks I am wierd
and what's this about no side sleeping after implants? I never heard that and am a side sleeper! I have had mine since mid May and not seeing anything indicating turning? I need to ask my PS about this Monday
-
Connie,
I had my exchange 3 weeks ago yesterday and have been sleeping on my side for a couple of weeks. My PS said no bra, and cleared me to run and swim last week. He doesn't seem to be concerned. Thinking that maybe it's because I stayed small (255 implant) and he used alloderm. These girls don't seem to be going anywhere! ;-)
-
Encouraging to hear Kestrelgurl - even with my 390cc implant I am still only a "B" cup so on the small side. My current PS is just very conservative - VERY conservative. He was one of the 30 doctors in the US selected to participate in the trials for both Allergen and Mentor. I think he has been using them since 2005 and has done hundreds of surgeries with them. He said that he has never had one rotate which was my biggest fear.
He may also be more concerned since mine was a swap for a round one, so, I will behave myself as long as I can bear it - so that later on, I can "bare" it! Just kidding, but at least be comfortable again in my clothing or a bathing suit.
OK - what's the Boob Trick - dying to know! I'll be curious to hear what your doctor says on Monday about side sleeping ConnieGreen. Mine said that it takes about 4-6 weeks for the implant to really "set" in the pocket and for there not to be any danger of any type of fluid accumulation which could cause it to float and possibly rotate. He also worries that if you sleep on your side, you could dislodge it with the arm you are sleeping on accidentally during the night.
Ditto for any activity involving the upper body for the first 10-12 weeks - hence the exercise restrictions. But everyone is different and every PS is different, we (and they) are all just doing the best we can.
-
I ditto what ATouchbetter says about side sleeping because I was told the same thing... -
Atouchbetter: I too have a problem with one of my feet. I have "Plantar Fascitis" and it can be VERY painful. I got this about 4 years ago and when I went to a podiatrist, they gave me a shot in the foot and after 24 hours, I couldn't believe how much better it was. I just recently started having pain in that foot and I've been putting off going again. But have decided that I'm going to make an appointment sometime this week and get it done.
I"m glad the recliner is semi working for you. I know "the wedge " didn't work for me either. That thing is so hard and just not comfy. I also bought a body pillow but the darn thing is so big, you'd think their's another person in bed with us ! Last night was only a 3 hour sleep night.. DH took me over to our local track to walk. That should help ! lol..
-
Atouchbetter : flex your pec muscles and watch what happens!
-
cathyann,
I see alot of people with plantar at work and a lot of times we can help a LOT. Have you been to a real specialty running store for a shoe fitting? It can make all the difference.

No I haven't yet. What exactly would I look for? I have a very big arch in my feet, but I only have the problem in one foot. I will probably get a shot in the foot that does relieve it from the pain. I was told as long as I wore a shoe with a good arch support that it was ok. Right now I have New Balance sneakers, but wondering if their even helping me. As soon as my PS gave me the "OK" to start some exercise, I started walking again, despite the pain I'm having in that foot.
-
LOL ConnieGreen, I see what you mean!
-
Conniegreen,
I know exactly what you mean ..Oscar the grouch face..having revision tues PS is putting support so hopefully it works something called a stratus...we will see -
Has any one had the implants put in and did not need TE'? My PS said i had enough skin that i would not need them he said he might have to take some off due to weight loss i saw the gummies and liked them and i think this is what he will use
-
I went direct to implant ( no TE's) and then exchanged my round one for a gummy. If you have enough skin, your PS may not have to put them under your pecs. Just make sure they use strattice on the upper pole if you go the sub-glandular route like I did. They look great!
-
Thank you lilthmoon! I will find out on the 30th when I see him for my pre op he told me so many things I can't remember them all and my daughter is not home to ask her if he said he would go and put them under my pecs
-
one more question what do you mean by Strattice on the upper pole?
-
Momto7,
It's a form of support for the implant.. -
Lilithmoon,
How do you like the gummies...I'm having revision Tue with Allergan 410 MF with a Strattice placed as well...wasent happy with the Seintras .hope this time goes better -
Thank you:)
-
Sherry 67, hello,
Can I ask what you didn't like about your Sientra's,.. shape feel, look? Are they the anatomical or round type? Good on you for getting them changed if not happy. I hope the switch is a better look for you.
