    @gritgirl, my stretches are to keep my back from stiffening up because of a long-ago back injury. I don't get spasms in my back even if I don't stretch. They're more to maintain flexibility than anything else. No big exercise for me until it cools off, but tomorrow I will be helping my mom pack up my late father's books to donate. That will be a little bit of a workout, but all indoors and hopefully not too roasting. It's supposed to be about 90 here this weekend.

    Today I packed a bunch of books for donation to help my mom with downsizing. There's a load in the car that I'll drop off at library branches on the way home from church tomorrow, and as many more boxes already packed and waiting in the garage. There's also a big chest of drawers to go from mom's house to my new place. I think it will just barely fit in the car.

    I walked down the hill( i am afraid that's it lol). Then got a lift to lunch with friends It has been My hubby's retirement week so I have been busy eating at ,lots of lunches and had very little excersise but a really good week.

    I hope to improve this week but it is his first week at retirement so I can see lots of long days on a lounger with a book. (But it might rain!!!!)

    mara, that sounds lovely. i would love to lounge and read books all day.

    yesterday was very low key for me. today supposed to go walking my dogs with a friend. hopefully that'll be more exercise for me.

    today I took two carloads of books to the library to donate. I got lucky, the first branch I went to took the whole carload of 12 boxes. They are only supposed to take three boxes per person at a branch, so I had to go to four branches to get rid of the second load! It was over 90 today and supposed to be very hot again tomorrow and then I think it will cool off a bit thank heaven.

    For those of you looking for some gentle stretching exercises, I love a DVD called "Yoga: Gentle Practice".  It's available from Amazon for $20.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012KK6QU/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  I have to adapt one small section of it where she moves gradually into downward dog because it puts too much pressure on my arms (I have lymphedema) but it's a great DVD that doesn't require that you have the ability to turn yourself into a pretzel.  It has two 30 minute sections, two 60 minute sessions, and two 90 minutes sessions.  I do the 30 minute ones at least weekly and it really helps.  I can tell if I skip a session or two - I start cramping more and feel tight.

    Also, one of the women on the "Let's Post Our Daily Exercise" thread swears by Classical Stretch which airs on PBS in the US, so if you don't want to buy a video, you could check that out if you're in the US.  (http://www.classicalstretch.com/)  I think they may have some You Tube videos as well.

    Just love the idea of stretching myself into a pretzel. The classical stretch sounds more like me as long as a nice slow movement like Brahms lullaby.



    Gritgirl day one of dh retirement stayed on the lounger all day. Tomorrow it is an up and own hill day. Hope you feeling ok and got out with your dog.

    Hello again to all! So today I got my drains taken out, now I can start working back a little bit. I'm surprised at how deconditioned I am. Doesn't take long to lose strength and flexibility, I know it will take a while to get it back. Planning on going back to work on Wednesday (that will be three weeks since my surgery). It's been nice being off and not thinking about it, and it's been really nice being with hubby and dog all day! But bills need to be paid so back to work I must go....and time to start the exercise regimen! And, best of all, I have my daughter's wedding to look forward to over Labor Day!

    Curveball. Those books are great exercise.



    Mara, if you lift a leg while lounging, that is exercise. :-)



    Rhody. Take it slow at this point and let yourself heal. Your body is busy healing.



    Today got walking in by going to and from the metro. Did about 30 minutes of weeding. It is hot and humid here.

    Gritgirl, 30 mins of weeding in July is serious work. Hope you stayed hydrated and that nothing made you itch. :-)

    Tarheel. It sure is humid here. Tonight it was cool enough for a walk with dogs. But still, it was sweaty.

    So I guess I still need to take it easy. Drains were taken out Monday, today I had a 300 cc seroma removed....ugh! I hate not being able to do for myself....but need to follow orders and take it more slowly. Did start back to work today but tried not to do much that was physical. It took most of the day to get through all the e-mails!

    It's been a lovely day here. I have been for a walk with retired dh along the beautiful coastline nearby. It has a lovely flat promenade so my old achy bones coped ok.



    This letrozole is beginning to take its toil on my joints. I shall need a stick soon to get going. I m fine once I get moving but getting up and down is starting to get o be hard work.

    Hi Everyone! Looks like this is the place for me. It's been 105 degrees plus in the central valley (California) and exercise has taken a hit. But, I have gotten on my stationary bike for 15-20 minutes several times this week and try to do light weights for my arms and chest and sit -ups every day. Knee injury and arthritis are a hassle. My brother diagnosed with thyroid cancer two years ago and he is in great shape now from exercise and diet changes. He's helped inspire me just like all of you - baby steps are great!!

    Magnolia. Welcome aboard. We're a pleasant baby stepping crowd. 105 Fahrenheit. Wow. That's hot. We're in the 90's here in DC with high humidity. Haven't done as much today because of it.



    Mara, good for you on the walk.



    Today I started taking glutamine. It has blood thinning qualities and I'm on a blood thinner, but I don't care. It's supposed to help with neuropathy and I'm tired of the neuropathy in my feet.

    @gritgirl, I hope the glutamine relieves your neuropathy, but you might want to talk with the doctor who prescribed the blood thinner as your dose may need to be adjusted to take the effects of the glutamine into account.

    My exercise today and yesterday was packing boxes. I'm helping my mom move out of her house and downsize into a retirement community and there is so much to do!! The goal is to have the house empty, cleaned up and on the market by the beginning of August if at all possible. There's not enough time to sort through the whole thirty years' accumulation so some things will probably have to go into storage and be dealt with a little at a time later on. I packed until the bubble wrap ran out!

    curveball. that's a lot of exercise.

    turns out that taking the glutamine was a mistake.  i ended up with several bloody noses. but then i got more exercise because i walked to the medical offices.  i stopped the glutamine and have stuff at the ready to deal with nose bleeds. monday i see an ent. i am a convert to not taking anything without checking with my doctor. that was scary. and totally stupid on my part

    more boxes today, but not as many as yesterday. @gritgirl, I hope no more bloody noses, and good on you for walking a lot.

    What's an "ent"? I don't suppose you mean a walking talking tree like in Middle Earth Laughing

    Hi everyone,

    I think this looks like a great thread. I have been following the let's post your daily exercise thread for a while now and they are pretty inspirational and welcoming. But I am definitely a baby steps kind of girl so I think this thread will be great for me.

    I am 2 years past my BMX and since surgery I have developed bilateral lymphadema, sleep apnea, fibromyalgia and had a frozen shoulder for almost a year. Needless to say, I have gained weight and found it hard to exercise. I am BRCA2+ and need to get healthy.

    I have just recently started jogging in the pool and today I made it 15 minutes. (I can't make it a minute out of the pool). I am looking forward to getting to know you all.



    SpecialK- I remember you from another board. Maybe TE troubles? You are always full of good info!

    Curveball- I have an above ground pool at my house. It has been 90+ degrees here so I decided to try exercising in the pool. So far, it is working well for me.

    Ginger: Can I come over and jog in your pool?  Too hot here.  Today was a low key day for me, and I ate too much.  Not a good combo. But the apple crisp was good.

    Wow! Just realized its been a long time since I was here, guess I have been busy! Miss keeping up with everyone.



    Back on the 24th saw PS for pre-op and to get paperwork for blood work, EKG, and chest x-ray as well as seeing MO for Anastrozole check (they forgot to tell me to come back after 1 month, 6 months later tired of SE's). Planned to leave the next day to visit my parents for down sizing chore but DD came home so I did packing and errands instead. Left Wednesday for Las Vegas, 100 miles out my PS's nurse called to let me know something was "off" a bit on EKG. Put the worry to work by downsizing and cleaning parents closets, guest room and linen closet. We filled up my dad's car 3 times with donations and I packed away winter clothes and other stuff for a total of 9 boxes if I remember correctly. Got back Sunday, had appt with cardiologist Monday (all okay and he cleared me for surgery, Tuesday the exhaustion set in by way of a splitting headache, Wednesday restorative yoga, a noon mtg, some errands and grocery shopping. Enjoyed Thursday, plus prep for Friday's surgery which went well. Will be a while before I get back to exercising, will start with reorganizing the clutter around here.

    I had Chinese food tonight so I am wide awake at 3am reminding myself why I never eat Chinese food.



    2nd Time- glad your surgery went well! I remember cleaning out my parents house after my dad passed away and my mom was moving. What a huge job...

    Today the most activity for me will be watching Andy Murray at Wimledon if he his true to form it be really exhausting.

    mara, sounds like a great game.

    weekends are always low key for me. not much exercise. today though, as a storm came in and lowered the temp, got outside and did about an hour of weeding.  it was something.
