Have any of you ladies had limoncello? I had it for the first time last September when a friend and I completed grad school. I am not much of a drinker but we felt we deserved kicking back a few after all our hard work. We are serving it at my itty bitty party. Good stuff!
Ann -
LOL thanks Steph :-)
-
Hi ladies, just wanted to check in and say I'm still here. Port placement is scheduled for July 9. ACK.. scared as heck, and well just don't know what to think. I'm exhausted.. should have been in bed over an hour ago.. so will say good night, sweet dreams to all. Hope to be on more this weekend. Tomorrow.. I plan to fall into bed the minute I get home from work. It's gonna be a long day. Longest yet since starting back.
-
Hope you have a good night's rest Melissa! I had no issues with the port. They put you into a "twilight" sleep. A bit tender for a few days, but wasn't too bad.
-
Good Morning all! Happy 4th!
Steph=Ok a sip for each..you are right 12 may put you in intensive care. lol..I haven't drank liquor since 1993 at 2 am. Was at New Years Eve party..dancing on this box thing they had set up with my friends to "Im too sexy for my shirt"....(amazing I can remember that) fell off..did not really realize I had hurt myself..continued to party..woke up with every ligament in leg torn..was out of work 3 months..never drank liquor again! Quit drinking beer 14 years ago. That wasn't hard ship..beer doesn't make you feel quite as happy as liquor. Haven't missed since I got married. We bought a home,,have all my gardens, husband, family...we are extremely settled. Oh..so do you take melatonin with a sleep aid? Now that might be doable...My problem with most sleep aids..is they put me to sleep but I don't stay asleep
Janet, you crack me up!! I'm wayyy wilder than you..before this..one Sat evening me and my husband sat outside in backyard just watching the sprinkler go back and forth...drinking tea. Perfectly happy. LOl.
Sweetpickle ...are you up?
-
Melissa: DON'T OVERDO! I'm all for going back to work as soon as you are able: the distraction is wonderful and the outing helps me rest later, but DON'T OVERDO!
I just tried to empty and measure my drain, and spilled all over the bathroom counter. Yuck! The good news is, my dh comes home today and when I tell him what happened, he probably won't let me do it alone all weekend! This is one thing I definitely DON'T mind having someone else do!
Hope everyone has a relaxing 4th!
(Melissa, one more reason to take it easy today: we are all on holiday!) -
Steph-She is in Canada so she may be working today. I think they just had Happy Canada Day the other day.
LOLOLOL...That is soooo funny about spilling the drain...did you say unmagical words? The first time I had them, I couldn't even look at them! My husband did them every time..even at 4am one morning as I was having major crying breakdown (drains hurt, no sleep in forever..felt like 2 yoa with no nap)..he just did it all quietly..lol. This past time, they weren't doing much..and amazing what you adapt too so I did. What are you doing now? Still at 40? Are you trying not to do too much? That does slow it down...I think the more you move they will keep on and keep on.
Sweetpickles not answering..I hope that means she is snoring away!
-
Melissa, please try not to over do it. I hope you slept in this morning.
-
Cyndie, my output is between 30-35. And yes, some unmagical words were said. At least I know that losing one measurement will not affect when I get the drain out! Not when it's still this high!
Even though Canadians don't celebrate our Independence Day, I think Melissa should take it easy since all of her BC buddies are! (Any excuse, you know!) -
Good morning everyone!! I hope you all had a good nights rest. Weatherman says we are going to have a pretty nice day today. I sure hope so after all this rain.
Honeyb: Please take care of yourself. If you do too much you may end up back in bed. That happened to me when I had my hysterectomy several years ogo. I tried doing too much after my surgery and ended up back in bed for several days. -
Well you are exactly right! (slow on the uptake here..duh)... Melissa I think since we are all your friends ..you need to contact everyone..work and all ..and inform them that you are helping your friends celebrate Independence Day! And what you do is lie around rest and eat BBQ or something cooked out. To clarify..that someone ELSE has cooked!
Steph-When do you go back to surgeon again?
Annie..Good morning..how was your night?
What is everyone doing today? I know what our two party animals are doing..lol.. OOHHHH...Steph I forgot you have a drain...and I suggested you drink one for all of us!!...you do that you may be doing "funny" party tricks with drain...ooooooeeeeewwwww....LMAO!
-
Steph, I spilled one, too. I think it's a right of passage when you are a member if the sisterhood if the drains.
Good morning Cyndie! I am living life on that seem speed, watching the sprinklers and drinking tea.
I'm starting my day off with a big star spangled bang. I'm sitting on my couch eating apple spice oatmeal mixed with blueberries and raspberries watching Golden Girl reruns. Wheeeeeee
Technically we all have a special reason to celebrate today Ladies. We are all free from cancer. The doctors took it out when we had our surgeries. Amen to that.
Have a great day!</p>

Well, Guys I guess I'm on that same speed too. I'm on the couch with my chichi and drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying the sunshine.
I will be going to my daughter's pool party and cookout this afternoon though. I hope you all have a great day today.
Ok, don't all you party animals get too out of hand today. You may not be ready to start dancing on tables yet. -
Annie- Oh! Honey, you need to watch the Little House on the Prarie reruns if you want to really live!!..LOL.. Its ok..Ive had my wild times..and the memories sustain..and you are right..I was just thinking earlier..I've never really done anything on this day..generally working..but this is OUR Independence Day!! FREE!!!!! I think Im going to buy some fireworks today (something I haven't done in 20 years.).
-
Cyndie, back to PS on Tuesday.
Ann, thanks for the reminder! I needed that!
Well, I'm off to eat breakfast and do a little housework. I'll check in later, gals! Have a great morning! -
Cyndy-OMG sunshine???..I think all of your weather has moved our way..it has pored down all morning..sun came out for like 20 minutes (psych!!) then started poring again..I think we are going to Walmart ..Moms having huge cookout with her friends and ours on the 13th..my husbands cooking the ribs!..yummm...so going to get suppliess...anywayyy..then maybe to Applebees. I've got to get out of this house..sick of being in it, except for Drs appts.
Im signing off for awhile..I think Im using ya'll as a delay in cleaning house..lol..
Have a wonderful day!! ((Heather must still be asleep!!!...yeaaaaa))
-
Cyndie: There is a dry front moving in from the coast and moving all the rain towards the west. Hopefully it will be pushed on out of the state by this afternoon. I hope you get some sunshine soon.
-
It rained all day yesterday, and most of the day tuesday. Sun is out today. Sitting here drinking my coffee and catching up while the boys are running around putting things up in the yard. I guess I better get moving. Have a great 4th everyone. relax, enjoy yourselves, and to our canadian friends, don't work too hard.
-
Hi Guys,
Everyone is probably out with family at bbq's and such, hope evedyone has a happy fourth!
I took my sleep med last night and it worked however I woke up a couple of hours later in pain so I had to get myself back to sleep again. Woke up early this morning sore from the recliner and said to heck with it and piled about ten pillows in the bed so I could stretch out. Fell back asleep and woke up just a bit ago. My day is lazy today. lol -
Glad you got to sleep in the bed. SO much more comfortable than a recliner. I remember just drugging myself so I'd pass out in the recliner because if I didn't, I couldnt get comfortable.
-
Happy 4th ladies.... Not doing much today either...going to go to my moms later. I went out to lunch with my girlfriends yesterday and boy was that nice. For a few hours I was able to forget about all this cancer crap and the fact that I have chemo tomorrow. It was nice to be my old self...even for a few hours.
My head is starting to feel itchy and ache. Do you think this means my hair is getting ready to fall out? I have my second chemo tomorrow so I figure it's going to happen soon.
Hair today.......Gone tomorrow.......
-
Run- Im sorry to say it but most likely, yes. That is how my head felt and hours after my second chemo my hair started coming out in huge chunks.
-
Janet- Heck yeah the bed is so much better! My poor muscles are so tight!
-
That's what I thought Heather, but I didn't realize it happens that quick. I have to admit I'm nervous about it...I have a big head
The idea of losing my hair is so upsetting to me. I had shoulder length hair and got it cut several weeks ago short. I have to admit I like the shorter cut. The wig I bought looks like my hair now and is cute but I'm afraid it's so hot here (Arizona) that I will be miserable wearing it. I will post a picture of myself wearing my wig...it is cute.
I think what bothers me is that people will know I'm "sick" when they see me without hair. Right now I can go out and people can't tell what's going on with me....soon it will be very obvious.
-
Lisa, your photo is adorable. Is that your wig? Cute and sassy!
-
It was hard for me too losing my hair, I originally had very long hair that I cut short about a month before I started chemo. I was surprised how quckly I adjusted to having no hair, it was awkard at times but most of the time it didnt bother me. It sure is a lot easier when getting ready!
I never bothered wearing a wig because they were to itchy and hot for me. I collected a bunch of cute scarfs and hats instead. -
Heather, you deserve a lazy day. Are your muscles tight in the abdomen area and is that typical after a DIEP? I don't mean to be nosy, I just want you to feel better.
Ann -
Thanks Ann...yes that's my wig. It looks just like my new haircut!
-
Thanks Ann :-) Yes the middle of my stomach is rock hard and my back muscles are sore too. Its getting better everyday, Im just losing patience with it all. Also very itchy and that is almost worse than being sore.
