Cyndie... I'll be over soon for the cobbler ...so save me some.
I wish, that sounds good!! I'll have to check out the John Hopkins website...I'm sure everything I like is bad for me.
Cyndy...Did they tell you what size 700cc's would be when the implants go in? I have 400cc's right now...I go next tuesday for another fill. Right now I still look like a 12 year old girl so I'm wondering how much they will need to fill until it looks like something.
-
Cyndie... Yes, the news here has been covering the fire non stop. They still aren't able to contain it. The 19 men that were lost are true heroes. It is heartbreaking to see the families left behind...so many of them have young children.
-
Run4: I have one more fill before the exchange. TEs can go up to 780cc. I'm looking for them to put in 750cc implants. My husband said that when I'm laying back they look huge and project out pretty good but when I stand up the "mountains turn into mole hills."
The PS said that the implants will drop and fluff then should project out more.
The size implant you get that would look best on you usually depends upon your size (height, weight and ribcage circumference). My daughter has 470 and 500 cc implants and she is a DD cup. She is tall and has a small ribcage. That would probably be a B cup for me since I am bigger than she is. I don't know if you've been on the breast implant sizing forum. There is a lady that started that forum named Whippetmom. She knows her stuff. She can take your size and the type and fill of TEs you have and tell you what type of implants would work well for you. Let her know what you results you are looking for with your final exchange.
You may want to go there. She has been on the mark with a lot of those ladies on there. -
Sounds like everyone had a good day. I, for one, would love some of that strawberry cobbler!
I had a busy day myself. I worked for a 1 1/2 hours, then had a massage. Came home and slept for 1 1/2 hours! I think I was over tired from all my activity yesterday!
Tomorrow I am going to a BC support group meeting, lunch with my BFF, and then work for 2 hours, if I can manage it all. The best part is that my dh will be home tomorrow, AND he stays for 5 days before leaving again! -
Steph-The massage sounds wonderful..mainly the spoiling oneself and having something touch you that feels good.
I am going to my first support group meeting this coming Monday..suppose to be a speaker there..??/ I feel like I really don't need to go as I have ya'll, but BS is all gung ho about it.
Lisa-they just showed tonight the 1 firefighter that lived from that Hotshot team..My heart goes out to him as well..can you imagine what he must be going through???
Strawberry cobbler with vanilla bean icecream..the bomb...one piece as tomorrow will be eating cardboard. uhh..I mean healthy no fat food.
-
I've lost 10 lbs. since chemo. Haven't changed a thing. Still could lose a few more, but it's coming off slowly.
-
Wow Steph! I dont know how you do it but that is awesome that you can get out and about so soon!
I am curious what the support meetings are like. I might check out one when we get moved in. -
Don't be too impressed with me. I'm crashing early tonight, even though I napped.
. I'll catch up with y'all tomorrow.
-
Gnight Steph!
Bagged out of the swim meet as soon as my husband got there. It was rainy dreary and I'm always afraid that between humidity and my shirt, that my rad markings will wear off and make for a crappy rad session the next day.
Went to Dollar Tree to pick up some patriotic decorations (and glow necklaces and patriotic balls for the kids) for Thursday's bbq. Hit the grocery store to pick up a few things I needed, and get ingredients for potato salad (I hate store made) and trifle. Will get those put together tomorrow night.
-
I just told my husband I want Strawberry cobbler.... he looked at me like I was nuts and said where am i supposed to get that? I told him South Carolina!!! Ha, I made myself laugh.
I guess I better go to bed before I start on the ice cream.
Thanks for the info cyndy... I will check out the sizing forum and see what whippetmom has to say about my little hockey pucks.... I have to admit it has been a nice switch to go to the store and buy a medium shirt. I have always worn a large/xlarge....having had DD girls!!
-
Gowith.... I read that you said you have lost 10 lbs. since chemo. Did you gain weight during chemo? I ask because I have my second chemo Friday and it's been on my mind. I know some people gain during and I was wondering if it's from the different medications or from an increased appetite?
-
Run4us, I gained during chemo. I think it's the steroids. They bloat you and make you hungry (to keep down the nausea).
-
Yep, I gained weight too from steriods.
-
It's hot.. I need rain.. or cooler weather. 35c today was just too much at a 40c humidex. Only in Canada do you go from parka's to wading in ice pools to cool down! LOL I love the heat.. but when you live with no AC.. it can be a little much. Ok enough of that.. I LOVE THE HEAT! LOL Went to work today, 3.5 hours and boy am I tired. LOL At the end of the night I asked hubby if he left the van for me to drive as he came in earlier for a visit. He said yes, I left it. I asked him ok fine then pick me up goof..... thought about it for a moment then he was like I think you can drive yourself.. and I was like.. DOH!! yeah... I'm tired I read that wrong! Oh so funny for the day! LOL But it was good to be back.
Strawberry cobbler.. mmmmmm Apple is my favorite, but strawberry will do too
hope it was good!
Sweet.. losing is good
smaller, frequent meals are what we all should eat... now where' my chocolate cake .....
night all you wonderful warriors!

Good morning, all:
I can't believe I woke up to a beautiful sun shiny day after several straight days of pouring rain. Some places here got 8" in a short period of time. This is unusual for this area. Maybe it's heading your way, honeybunny.
We had a tornado touch down a few miles from here last night and destroyed several homes and 7 people were hurt. Thank God no one was killed.
I got a fill yesterday in my TEs and my right foob hurt all night! This is the first time they've hurt like that after a fill. My TEs hold 650cc and they have 700cc in them now. PS said they could go up to 780cc. Anyway maybe it's because they are overfilled and my loose skin is starting to tighten up. My foobs look like they are up to my chin!!
On the funny side:
My husband and I were talking about our neighbor dog that loves to lay on our porch at the front door all the time and her owner doesn't give her the time of day and our other neighbor that lives alone and on a fixed income and tries to feed her even though she has three big dogs herself. I was telling my husband I felt so sorry for her and wish someone could get her and take better care of her. He looked at me and said "you talking about the dog or Sandy (our neighbor but not her real name)." I didn't think I would ever stop laughing!!
Well, I'm looking forward to going to my daughter's tomorrow for a pool party and a cookout (I believe it's called a BBQ in other states). I hope you all have great plans for tomorrow. -
Today is my loooonnnnng RAD appointment. We have 1 1/4 hours scheduled, but they told me if we needed more time it was okay because lunch is scheduled afterwards. /sigh/
Hoping it goes quicker than that 2 hour job i had in the beginning. My husband is driving me and I'm going to take 2 vicodin first. Should be fun trying to shop for our BBQ afterwards. I foresee a good nap this afternoon before heading to the kitchen to make my trifle and potato salad.
-
Gowith-I hope rads goes easily and quickly! Question-What is a trifle? The only way I know that word is someone two face or trying to get you in trouble is "trifling". lol.
Chimney-Wonderful news about the sun! I just talked to my sister in Summerville (a bit out from Charleston) and she said is poring cats and dogs! Its been gloomy for 4 days here off and on..some thunderstorms..but not that bad..today looks really dark though.
Well, I got up and ate boiled eggs and oatmeal..eyeing leftover strawberry cobbler..BUT i SAID NO NO NO!..lol thinking of song, Janet. I did think of all ya'll while I was eating as so many posted about it..lol..was really good..not very often I go scratch with baking..but with loads of time on my hand! I've also been getting into Pinterest more..lovely pics take me away..
I cancelled and moved dentist appt this morning for wisdom tooth removal to the 12th. I just couldn't wrap my head around anymore pain..drains still sore where they took out..and hand still bruised and sore from IV fiasco in hospital..Im tired of pain. (and big wimp with dentist).
-
Well, CK, I guess I spoke too soon. The Charleston rain must have come here. About 11:00 the sun disappeared and it started pouring rain. Ugh!!! I sure hope that's the last of it. I'm ready for our typical summer weather.
-
Gowith...good luck today...I'll be thinking about you!!
Cyndie...boiled eggs and oatmeal?? Are these the foods we are supposed to eat?
Can you send me a link to where the list of cardboard...I mean foods we should be eatting?
Ladies that have finished chemo and gained weight during....have you had a difficult time losing the extra weight put on?
Going to lunch today with a few girlfriends...really looking forward to it!! I have my second chemo friday. I would love some extra prayers!!
Thanks, Lisa
-
Lisa- Will be thinking of you Friday! I have been stuck in a recliner for the past four weeks so I havent had a chance to exercise but I have lost a couple of pounds from my diep surgery. I cant eat as big of portions as I used to due to the tummy tuck I had.
-
Yay!! Sunshine again!!
-
I've been slowly dropping weight without trying.
Survived this morning's rad session. The two vicodin and the PT yesterday seemed to make a world of difference.
Cyndie, the trifle I make is a layered dessert. Pound cake strawberries, bananas, and peaches, then covered with vanilla pudding, then cool whip then repeat layers. It's made in a large clear pedestal bowl so you can see the layers. It's a perfect summer dessert and no baking required (use Sara Lee pound cake).
And I hate the dentist too. Haven't been since this all started but am scheduled in August.
-
Janet-OMG That sounds wayyy better than my strawberry cobbler. Do you sweeten the fruit or just put in layers after slicing? OHhhhhh..never mind...on stupid diet.
Lisa-Other than the eggs are protein..and apparently after chemo you should have loads of protein..its mainly just for diet..Im probaly going to put foods I read in dinners. And, sshhh.. I actually really do like oatmeal..nothing on it ..sugar or otherwise..just plain steel cut oats..My husbands into the grits..which I like but there again..cheese, butter..fattening. I will send you the links for the foods..one is from John Hopkins..to keep recurrance down the other is one for cancer fighters. If anyone else wants them, Ill post for ya'll the link.
Well was feeling full of energy..Went to farmers market..loaded up on watermelong, cantalopes, squash, tomatoes, peppers, blackberries..etc...They are all still out in the car because now Im tired..wow ...wierd how it comes and goes.
How is everyone? Havent heard from some in a few days..hope all is well
-
The strawberries are they frozen sliced, peaches in juice, fresh bananas. So no sweetening. It's very light and good.
-
Cyndie, I'm guessing your diets don't include chocolate chip cookies. I'm 110% for fighting the cancer and preventing recurrence, however, there is quality-of-life to consider too. LOL!
-
Hi Liamsgrand, I am also dealing with seroma issues. I had BMX three weeks ago today. Drains came out on Monday (one was ready but one was not--but it came out because it was leaking and not holding suction). Today I went back to the surgeon and had 300 cc of fluid removed. She tells me that there is more fluid production on my one sde because I had axillary node dissection...when there is space to fill the body tries to fill it by producing fluid. Once the scar tissue fills in the gaps it will stop. I actually had surgery on that side twice--the origal total mastectomy and then another emergency surgery less than 48 hours later because I was bleeding. So that may be contributing as well. The surgeon also told me that some believe that putting pressure on the affected side will help (like wearing something to "bind" the chest) so I am trying that now, but I am sure that might not be a good idea if you are doing the reconstructon.
Anyone else have any info/feedback about seromas?
Martha
-
Steph, I have to agree with you. /wipes the crumbs from a snickers mini from my face/
-
CKmoss-
I know youve been having plenty of issues since your surgery and now you say you are having a tooth extracted. Have you talked to you PS or BS with regards to geting a perscription for antibiotics so start before the procdure as from my understanding is necessary
-
Thanks Janet, I'm glad I'm not the only one! LOL
-
Ok. I JUST heard from my MO. And you guys will be the first to know! My oncotype DX test score came back at 13. So, no chemo. I know that's good news! On the other hand, I got this second tumor in spite of the fact that I was taking tamoxifen. My doctor wants me to stop taking it. Unfortunately, there are no other meds for premenopausal women. That means he wants to put me on something for postmenopausal women, and I have to get there. (As in postmenopausal.) I've also been having problems with spotting. I'm set to see a GYN next week. My MO wants to wait and see what the GYN says. Then he'll talk to me about options to get me postmenopausal. We're talking either 1) radiate the ovaries, 2) remove the ovaries, or 3) have a hysterectomy. I wish I'd known! They could've taken the ovaries when they already had me open for the tram flap procedure. Oh, well.
So, to recap: I stop taking tamoxifen. Yeah! My oncotype score was 13. Yeah! No chemo! Yeah! Finally, there's a little bit of bad news, but we'll deal with that tomorrow.
