Hi seebha, your medical oncologist should have gone over with you what regimen/chemo drugs she is recommending to start you on. He/she should have gone over by now how many times you will be getting it and for how long.

It all depends on your stage, chemo regime, etc. I had T/C, 4 rounds. Some have 6-8 rounds of T/C or A/C or CMF. Some have 4 rounds of A/C plus 4-12 of Taxol... These are just some of the possibilities so no one can really tell you except your oncologist.

I will say chemo is managable and not really as scary as what you're probably envisioning. I was able to continue taking care of my 4 year old, I got out & about a lot to stores, the library, etc., I took walks almost every day... I had some rough side effects but never threw up or passed out or had to call 911 or anything. In fact, I'm only 3 weeks out from my final chemo and I already feel nearly normal again, mostly just get tired easily still.

My biggest recommendation is to ask your onc for something for anxiety (Ativan or Xanax etc.) because that will help a lot! I wish I'd asked for it sooner. I only ended up taking the pills a couple of times but they made a big difference when I needed them.

I just sent you a private message. The number of chemos depends on your cancer stage and type. There are many different treamtents. I chose my treatment with my medical oncologist, you will probably do the same. Check your private messages also.

Please don't be scared of  chemo. It'a really not nice, but I had a friend dx a couple of years ago who declined chemo. The news wasn't good.

    xx
