For young women who've conceived or tried to after Chemo
I am no where close to thinking of pregnancy just yet, as I'm still in treatment and then will be stuck on Tamoxifen for who knows how long... But I had a couple questions for those of you who underwent chemo and were able to get pregnant, or those who tried to but weren't able.
1- Which chemo regimen were you on?
2 - Did you have regular periods after chemo?
3 - For those whose fertility was compromised/were not able to conceive naturally... Did your period return after chemo?
I know that getting one's period back is not necessarily an indicator that you will be able to have a baby, as certain chemo drugs such as Cytoxan can push you way closer to menopause and drastically reduce your eggs. But I guess I'm wondering for how many of you out there did you get your period back and if it did eventually lead to fertility?

I have posted in some of the other pregnancy threads but am happy to post here too - sorry to those who have read my story already.
I did AC x 4 and then Taxol x 12 from March to September 2009. I was 36. At the same time I had Zolodex injections which shut down my ovaries completely - last one of them was August 2009. My period came back in February 2010. I conceived in April 2010 but miscarried at 11 weeks. My period continued regularly (much more regular than it had been before chemo, actually. I think it was because chemo-pause had re-set my body to normal hormonal settings!) until November 2010 when I became pregnant again. My son was born in Augusy 2011.
I refused Tamoxifen because I wanted the chance to conceive.

I was on E/C (pretty much the same as A/C) and Taxol) last chemo was Feb 2011. I did not have have my period for a year starting with my second dose of chemo. WHen it came back it was pretty irregular like two months here, 28 days there. I took Tamoxifen for 9 months and stopped - made me depressed and my bones hurt.
Anyway, we weren't actively trying to conceive but I am now five weeks pregnant! It was a complete shock but I am so, so, happy! I always wanted a third child and was so mad that I wasn't able to store eggs prior to chemo.

Congrats on your pregnancy! That is great news.
I actually just got my period back, it seems.. I'm about 3 months after chemo. Although it's not at all like my normal period, just really light and barely there... so who knows. I imagine it takes some time to adjust.
