Ann- I think that's a wonderful idea!!!
Ckmoss- sounds like things are improving for you, Im so glad
-
Good morning ladies!
I woke up in the middle of the night for a couple of hours and spent that time reading here. I could never have gone through everything without this group, I felt so much more peqceful going into surgery after learning about people's experiences here. Also, the laugter and understanding has literally helped save my sanity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here!
Hope eveyone has a wonderful day! -
Good morning ladies, I hope everyone had a good nights sleep. Yesterday was a good day for me!!! Since my first chemo it has been hit and miss as far as energy. Tuesday was a crappy day...I was nauseous all day SO, feeling somewhat normal yesterday was a great thing.
Ckmoss...glad you are feeling a little better. I used a lanyard around my neck to hold the drains when I sat in the bathtub...I couldn't shower either when I had the drains in. I can't believe Ann and I ( my name is Lisa by the way) are the first few that were on the board. I often wonder how the others are doing that we don't here from anymore.... I hope they are all well, moving on in their healing. Hope all you lovely ladies have a great day!!!
-
Lisa- So glad you are feeling better, I always cherished the good days during chemo! Are you taking your naussa meds? I took mine the first couple of days whether I felt sick or not, helped to stay ahead of things.
-
LOVE you ladies! Lisa, make sure you eat many small meals/snacks all day. Too much food or too little food can cause nausea.
-
You'll crack me up! I wish there was a like button.
Went to my ps on Tuesday. He drained 90 cc's out of the seroma. 5 more cc's up from last week of 85 cc's. Surgery is Monday to scrape and re-drain. He is not liking that I have 3 abscesses going on with that side also. Put me on a sulfa antibiotic and if any changes before Monday I am to call and not wait to let him know.
The good thing is he said I could take a shower 2 days after surgery. He knows I will take a shower even if he tells me I can't. You can keep the drains pretty dry with a hand held shower head. I just pin the drains to a shoelace around my neck.
I was suppose to go with my BFF to Illinois to see her first grand baby. Due July 2nd. She was suppose to stop and get me on the way from Florida on June 30th and stay till July 12th. My family lives in Illinois also so I don't get to see them either. Everything changed last week with this seroma.
Prayers are with all of you. I know so many of you have so much more to go through than I do. I wish I could just be with each of you to hold your hand. Big cyber hugs. P.S. my name is Jerri -
sweetpickle...yes I have been very good about taking the nausea meds... I keep track in a notebook so I don't miss a dose.... I did notice that the first 48 hrs of taking them made me sleep all the time...maybe the meds with the chemo in my body were the reason??
Gowith... Funny you mentioned small meals...I know the nurse told me to do that but I didn't and boy did I notice I was nauseous. Even when I'm not hungry now I force myself to have a little something and your right it makes a difference.
Did either of you ladies experience heartburn? I have never had it before... it started about 2 days ago. Any suggestions on what to take?
Thanks..... Lisa
-
Jerri-I was looking at the dates and I think you will be ok to go with her. I was worse case ..I had mine Friday..in hospital until Sunday..yesterday..got back a LITTLE energy...but today haven't felt so hot (mainly because poor sleep last night). However, my surgeon said my extreme fatigue is caused by 4 surgeries since 4/17..every 3 weeks..and seroma surgery was 9 days after port placement (was given anesthesia) surgery. Plus, I had had infection..this was gone by the time of surgery...point being..I think you may be ok to go. As far as basically redoing MX..its not so hard after you've been through before..drains don't bother me..course theres not a lot of feeling at site. My only problem is #1. He used actual old fashioned stitches this time
..#2. and also did tighter..so my reach is gone.
Lisa-I haven't started chemo, but read loads of places in website and in my books that heartburn and acid reflux is issue..I will have this as I have anyway. Prilosec works very well for me or even Zantac 150. I am the queen of acid reflux. Take in the morning before you eat.
I fixed my favorite back in the day college meal for lunch today...oodles of noodles/shrimp flavored...now, however, I add shrimp to it..everyone thinks Im crazy but always loved it.
AMBNH-How are you? Melmcbee-Are you feeling better today?
-
Ck, can't go. Penny will be coming through this Saturday and my surgery isn't till Monday. If they could have gotten me in today or tomorrow for surgery, I could have went.
We are checking to see if there is anyway we can fly me there then I can ride home with them. -
Isellrejer- What part of Illinois are you from? Hope your able to find a flight, must be hard being away from family and going thru BC. I grew up in Arlington Hts and now live out by DeKalb/Sycamore area
-
Jerri-I went back and looked at dates..people on drugs should not assume they know the date...lol..Im not good at that normally either. I am sorry you won't. I hope something will work out for you. And my prayers are soo with you for a great surgery. You are the only person that i have found in this website that has had seroma. I even put in word in search and all it pulled up was my post. Everyone keeps telling me that its normal with MX..but I've yet to see that. I know the whole thing sucks.
Cateyz-How have you been?
-
ckmoss, Im doing good!! Been getting a bit more active as each day passes. The storms have finally passed and the sun has been shining all day so of course that alone makes everything better
-
Hi ladies. Yes I feel better mentally because I saw my ps today and he thinks im beautiful and healing well and the best part is I dont have to go see him for 3 months. Yeah. I look so strange going into his office with my flip flops on and cut off jeans. I love it. He thinks Im crazy but in a good way.
Hi Jerrie and welcome. Dont belittle what you are going through because I promise you nobody wants to trade places with you. Just remember how strong you are.
Hi Lisa and welcome. I had to eat like saltines and peanut butter all the time and I took prescription pepcid and phenergan and compazine. However a word of warning to all I gained about 30 to 40 lbs in the last year from eating, steroids, and not working or exercising. Strange thing is I had a severe candy craving fkr the 6 months prior to diagnosis and I would get 2 bags of skittles everyday that I was at work and the pharmacist started calling me skittles. lol. That probably put a lot of weight on me too. So everybody at work thinks the sugar is linked to or caused my cancer. funny. Anyway I went off topic.
Sweetpickle, Run4, Ck, Ann, Anbhm (I can never get these letters right You will have to tell me what they mean lol), Gofor, Catye and everyone else healing hugs and much love -
Cat, I am from a little town right outside of St Louis, MO called South Roxana.
Ck, you are so funny! -
Hello everyone,
Just got home from work. I was able to go eight hours today.
Sent a pic of my opened suture to the PA at PS office and they have called in an antibiotic. Looks like I've got an infection to deal with now.
I hope everyone had a wonderful day. -
Ck, I don't think a lot of women have surgery for the seroma. Maybe theirs are smaller?
Cat, it is hard being away from my family right now. My kids are here, but they are very into themselves. At 19, 22 & 28 you would think different. My hubby drives a truck and normally he is out 2-3 weeks at a time, but he just changed that to being home once a week, but it is only for 34 hours.
We are getting ready to move to the mountains here in GA. Just lots to do with lots of these set backs. I am not planning to take the kids with me, just the fur babies. -
Lisa- The naussa meds do cause you to be sleepy. I spent a lot of time sleeping while on chemo. Heartburn was also a problem for me so I stayed stocked up on zantac which usually took care of it. I also echo the smaller meals, eating to much at once did me in. I snacked more often to keep something on my stomach.
Chin- Sorry that you have an infection, I have a spot that Im worried about too. -
Thanks, Sweetpickle. I know my problems are minimal compared to some here. I pray that we all will soon start seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
-
chimney=I am soo sorry about your infection. Has he started you on antibiotics yet? Prayers and hugs for you!!
Jerri-Internet says "in rare cases.." I honestly don't know. He said he didn't want to pull out fluid with needle because would just fill back up. The 2 teeny holes fluid was coming out of started getting a bit bigger ..he tried to do in office..that didn't work..was fluid all over me and everything..so he said "lets do this right" and start over..Im glad he did. Sorry if Ive grossed anyone out with description. Are you near Atlanta now?
-
Yes, right outside Atlanta. We are moving to Helen.
-
Ck: I started the antibiotic today. I sure hope it works.
-
Chimney-Did they catch in time before you felt infection? I had chills, fever..Tylenol helped that but was on 2000 mg a day antibiotic..now Im on 1500 mgs..he says is gone..not sure if he is being overly cautious? But Im all for caution. Infection scared me more than BC diagnosis I think. Mainly because BC took awhile to sink in. Denial land. Well ...healing hugs your way! I am sorry this has happened..it totally sucks when you think you are done, then here comes something else.
-
Ck: I think they got it early. I haven't felt feverish or anything. He said it was just starting to get infected. I'm on 1000 mg a day.
It's been almost seven weeks since my surgery. You'd think of have been over all that by now. Oh well, just another bump in the road.
You sound much better. I hope all is going welll for you. -
Oh Jerrie, I love Helen Ga. We alwasys stop by there for a day shopping and eating. Beautiful.
-
Mel you will have to come and see me when we get moved and you are there. I love it there too. It is just so peaceful. I was just there last weekend. Stop at Cafe International and have a Reuben. Best I have ever had. Every time I go, I have to stop there and get one. They are drool worthy!
-
Ladies, I had my second fill today and the PA put in 200 ccs. I'm ballooning right up!
-
Ann- How is the pain? Are you doing o.k.?
-
sweetpickle, I am doing great, thanks. The PA put in 100 ccs and since I handled it so well she added 100 more. The good news is I may only need 2 more fills but the bad news is my DIEP got rescheduled for Oct. 9. I can live with that, but I'm anxious to get it behind me. Plus these expanders are kind of creeping me out.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Ann -
Ann- I keep meaning to ask you why you have te's with the diep? That is awesome that you are doing so good! Im sure you are ready to have everything behind you.
-
Good Morning!
Another morning and I wake at 4am..mainly because I can only sleep on one side (drains) and after 5 hours starts getting sore. So I don't fight it..get up..watch more tv..then go back to bed about 10. I miss sleeping a regular nights sleep. Ok enough whining so early.
Chimney-I am very glad you caught that early. It will be knocked out in no time. I am feeling better, thanks for asking.
So the other day I got bit by a spider or something on my leg..its got bruise around it and big silver dollar size knot under skin -which is numb but warm to the touch. Being a gardener, this is something I would never had paid attention to. Probably wouldn't have even put anything on it..but now, with all this..is freaking me out some..I called my general Dr and told nurse that I just wanted to make sure I had done everything//put neosporin and benedryl cream on..on major antibiotics..she said would probably be fine..to elevate and put ice on......I think I'm turning into huge hypochondriac. That are I've lost my huge sense that nothing bad medically would ever happen to me innocence.
Jerri-OMG I'm going to have to make the trip there. That is my very favorite deli sandwich! The best here is Jasons' Deli..you know they must be thick! My dream is to get to New York City..I hear they have wonderful ones. lol.
