I have mild lymphedema that seems to come and go. I remember at first I felt like the area was swollen. Occasionally, Brian could see the difference between limbs. I get some pain with it (but I also have severe pain from nerve damage from the surgeries) so the pain is probably amplified from the nerve damage.

    Good morning, justhavinfun, and welcome!

Sorry for the worries that have brought you here, but glad you found us. There are lots of reasons for the kind of swelling you've described elsewhere on the boards here, not all of them lymphedema. I did go read your earlier posts, and I just wanted to encourage you to be your own advocate and get that second opinion (or a follow-up on the first one) right away. You should not have to wait for the help you need to figure this out--medical care is not a do-it-yourself problem, and a swollen breast and armpit calls for a quick and thorough assessment.

That said, it is sad but true that it's often up to us to be our own best advocate. Call both places, and keep calling until they find a way to fit you in. While you're working on that, if your breast or armpit reddens it could indicate infection that would require immediate attention, so don't hesitate to head for critical care or the ER if that happens.

Please keep us posted. Gentle hugs,
    Binney

justhavinfun - "they do everything to you in one day".  What are you talking about?

Have you had any breast surgery done?

Kicks, if it's anything like the MDAnderson center here, they schedule all exams and testing (mammos, US, CT, biopsies, whatever) on the same day, then give you the results right away. It's a really merciful thing to do so you don't have to hang out there, losing sleep and walking around in a fog while you wait to find out.

Justhavinfun, what news?!! Thinking of you, hoping you have answers, and that they're all an easy fix.Smile

    Gentle hugs,
    Binney
