Starting to lose it

Hi everyone,

I am not typically a person to vent like this...but if I need to I figure this is a safe place to do it. I have already posted introdicing myself as a person just diagnosed with LCIS and ADH. I am currently in that stage of waiting for the MRI (tomorrow) and an excisional biopsy yet to be scheduled. My significant other (we have been together for 17 years), has long standing but manageable health issues. She has had unexplained weight loss over the past few months & she finally went to her PCP to have it checked out. She is scheduled for an upper GI (also tomorrow) and had blood work drawn. The labs revealed elevated lipase levels and possible pancreatitis. She will be undergoing a CT scan to further investigate and as of now has yet to be scheduled. She also went for a mammogram on Tuesday which revealed a lump. She was taken for an immediate US and (long story short) is scheduled for a needle biopsy next week. I will mention here that her health issues are from an autoimmune disorder called sarcoidosis and patients with sarcoidosis may develope benign breast lumps. Still, how much more am I going to need to deal with in a short span of time?!?

We have talked at length about what this all means (or doesn't mean) and we are in this place that we can only exist one day at a time, one moment at a time. In the end we will eventually come out on the other side and have answers and a game plan, but this space in between sucks.

Thanks for listening.

Just an update, I had my MRI last Friday and it did not reveal anything that we did not already know. I have a wire localization excisional biopsy scheduled for June 21. I am glad to finally have that scheduled. My partner's needle biopsy is tomorrow and the abdominal CT scan is Thursday. Her upper GI did not reveal anything problematic. We are hanging in there, and getting it done. Can't wait for his week to be over.

Thank you so much! Her biopsy went well. She is resting with ice (think we've all been there) :) Another step behind us and AGAIN...waiting for results. Thank you for the kind thoughts and well wishes. It sure helps knowing we are not alone.

Well, surgery went fine. The surgeon told my partner that he removed a larger area than planned (according to her 5 x 6cm, but I will find out for sure once I get the report because that sounds like a lot to me). Anyway, I am doing good, just waiting for results...again!

Had my post-op follow-up today, pathology report states DCIS was obtained in the specimen. Good news is...it is low grade cribiform and micropapilary in appearance. Surgeon did state that he believes he got it all but not all margins were as clean as he would like but not bad (0.4cm at the worst point) hence why he believes he got it all and re-excision should not be necessary. Next step is meeting with the oncologist next week to discuss options. I did ask if radiation was in my future, but he deferred that question to the oncologist (fair enough).

Today didn't have the best of news, but not the worst of news either. Thanks for listening.
