AnnBR, that's great news and you can go into the weekend without all that worry. Enjoy!
Day one after A/C chemo has been fine so far. Been following every order carefully, even have myself the Neulasta shot myself. Never thought I could do something like that. My oldest daughter is going into her senior year of nursing so I did it under her watchful eye. She's been such a great support and help.
Tonight, my head shaving girls night. We will laugh and make it a great get together and give the finger to cancer!
Love y'all, sisters of the C! -
AMBNH, I love your positive attitude, make it a good night!
-
Ann, glad your appointment went well.
AMBNH, LMAO, have fun tonight!
-
Ann-I am so excited for you. I am glad that there are some Drs that still realize that we hang on their every word and if they are puzzled....seriously??
AMBNH- Yall have a great time!
Well, face feels like on fire now..101.7 temp..I called back to surgeon just to make sure what he gave me is enough..he was like have you read bottle?..I hadn't. 500 mg 4 times a day antibiotic..I feel like I have the flu..horrible..Thank goodness for my friends, husband, mother and ya'll. My mom is in her 70's but very active and very much like 1950's Mom..She stayed with me today..cleaned whole house brought cold washrags for face..etc..Best thing...She took apart my bed sheets and washed all of it..then made back up...BEST THING EVER..lol..(I hate making bed..ESPECIALLY when I don't feel good.)
Gowith, Steph, Chimneymae..all of you have a good night..Hopefully I will be better tomorrow.
Run4-Prayers are with you..I hope Port O Hell went good!

Back from seeing the PS. He added 240cc (I think that what he said) I will have to double check the amounts next week. So since he filled half full at the time of surgery, I'm thinking that maybe I'm fully expanded. Don't know why I failed to ask. Maybe it was because I was obsessing that one of the fake breast expanders is right at my collar bone and several inches higher than the other. Looks really stange to me. He explained that the expanders are just to stretch the skin and muscle so the end result would be better. hummmmm. Anyone else with uneven expanders? .....Hoping that filling the expanders today will actually help reduce the output to the drains as suggested so I can get those last two drains removed. I took a couple of hydocodone for the ride home.
-
mshelton, I have tissue expanders but I have no idea exactly where they are laying. I can't figure out what's going on under there and I've been poking around. Mine look like hamburger buns with swelling along the bottom. One is obviously larger than the other. It's weird. I have a fill next week so I will have someone explain it to me. I hope it helps with your output. Did they deaden the area first? I have no idea what to expect.
-
Ann- ps did use the novacaine (or whatever) to deaden. He said most people didn't feel it anyway but I felt the novacaine needle and then the insertion of the larger needle used to fill the saline on the first side. The second side, I think he waited a couple of seconds more before using the fill syringe as I didn't feel it. Due to having had large breasts, I have a lot of skin that was left behind so plenty to work with so maybe that's why they could fill so much. They have a magnet that locates the port of the expander. I was curious and asked how they could find the port since I hadn't been able to locate it by feel. Overall, it's nothing considering what else we have been thru. There's a tightness physically, but its' positive mentally for seeing boobs develop (regardless of where they are in my case lols). Let us know how it goes with you.

Hey, everyone. Ckmoss: hope you turn the corner soon! Being sick on top of everything else SUCKS!
My surgery went well Thursday. Two nodes, both clean or clear or whatever. I'm not sleeping well, of course, but trying to sleep at night, in a hospital, is a joke. My compression band keeps riding up. -
Glad everything went well Steph. So are you home?
-
Steph- Congrats on clean lymphs. Wonderful news! So no chemo for you? If you aren't going to be able to shower ask nurse does she have any bath cloths..or gauze etc..my nurse brought me bag if all kinds of goodies that were very helpful..bath cloths are great. All you do is throw in microwave..no sticky residue either....my fever broke yesterday. But still have fluid coming out..not as fast .but pretty good .does it stop? Should I get drains back in?.
-
Ckmoss- Hope you feel better soon, sounds like you are going throug the ringer!
steph- congrats on clean nodes! -
Ckmoss, oh honey, I'm so sorry you have felt so sick! Great news that your fever broke! Mom's are like no other medicine - her presence must be so comforting!
Steph, great news about the nodes! Yay!
Sweet pickle, good to see you back!
AnnBR: my chest looks like a Picasso painting. Nuff said.
MShelton, it is good that you had larger breasts. I had small ones so filling them is in very small doses. They couldn't even put any saline in during surgery.
Hope I didn't leave anyone out! Have a great Saturday!
Ps. Still feeling pretty good on day 2 after chemo. Keeping my fingers crossed! -
AnnBr- the expanders can rotate a bit< with hte metal injection port moving like the hands on a clock (slowly). For the fill they use a little grey thing that looks like a mini computer mouse and it has a magnet to find wher the metal port is sitting exactly. I came home from hte mastectomy and TE placement with one of those in a specimen bag and NO ONE knew what it was, including my surgical nurses.
Since I work in a biology lab I thought they were giving me a specimen of my tumor to grow- haha. But it did not open to reveal a sample.
Anyway, your PS will have one of those to use if she/he cannot easily feel the injection port with his finger. I was super scared of the fills but they were in an area that was competely numb, did not feel them at all. if the port has roatated to a place that is regaining feeling they will give you a tiny shot of lidocaine first.
Hang in there, all who have TEs- it will be over soon. it is great to be on "the squishy side". One step at a time. -
AMBNH-Thanks and they def are! Takes some of the stress of my husband..who I'm not sure could take on this whole thing single handily (sp)?..Whole Steel Magnolia thing. How are you and did your chemo go well? I'm sure you posted in here but have been so out of it..all I can do is read one or two post above. I am very glad I changed mine until this coming Thurs and hope I'll be up for that.
Some of my pain is gone (not sure naturally or percocets)..but putting on clothes and taking off/getting in/out of bed is still horrendous. And feel like I'm recovering from the flu..guess is still infection.
Does anyone know or has heard how long this fluid will keep coming out? Its not as bad as it was before, but still soaking through gauze and washcloth behind gauze every 5/6 hours...I don't understand this and don't even know where to look to find answers. I looked through topics in this website and didn't see anything that would pertain to it.
Sweetpickle-How are you?? Do you have drains in top and abdom? Does it hurt?
-
Steph01, congratulations on clear nodes.
science gal, thanks for the explanation about the expanders, I really appreciate it. I don't know anyone who's had them, so I don't know what to expect.
Ann -
Ckmoss- Big hugs to ya, I feel so bad that you are having such a hard time, so glad your mama is there. My hubby is single handedly taking care of me, kids and his new biz. I married superman! I still have all four drains but they arent putting out much so I am hopeful that I can get them out on Thursday when I see PS. We are staying at my MIL house so she has been a huge help too.
Btw.....Love, love, love Steel Msgnolias!!!! -
Sweet pIckle- I do too! And so much truth in it! Or so it is with my husband! You def did marry superman! We are lucky to have supportive husbands. You know when all this happened, there was a lot of talk from BS and nurses/drs about important to have good support group..I thought they were basically talking about mentally. Little did I know they meant so much more ..and how right they were! I remember when I found this out..I was sooo angry that this was interrupting my life and didn't someone get the memo that bad things didn't happen to me? I decided I was going to do what the doctors said..work around it and basically ignore the whole thing..HAH!! The Cancer Gods are still laughing over that!
Run4-Are you ok from port placement?
Steph-I hope you are home and doing well.
macmbee-Haven't heard from you lately (could have poss missed)...are you ok?
-
Oh it appears I have Seroma. yaay me.
-
Dear CKmoss,
a little ditty for you today!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVdnqEyToqg
Just change the words up a little.
-
ckmoss: I think it's called the Red Devil because it is a red color and the staff have to wear gloves even to handle it. It can't come in contact with their skin. (And they want to put that in my veins!!?) They say it has terrible side effects.
Thanks for the website. I'll be doing mega research before I have to go back and give my decision.
Sweetpickle: I am so sorry you had such a rough time. I hope you are happy with your results and are recovering quickly.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you all. -
GoWith-LMAO--YOU ARE A HOOT!
-
it's stuck in your head now, isn't it?
-
Well ladies I got my port put in...or as ckmoss said port - o- hell!!! I am so uncomfortable. I had to be at the hospital at 12pm but wasn't taken to surgery until 3. The surgery was to take a little under an hour but lasted 2. My surgeon told my husband that the "guide" whatever the hell that is came out and my vein was 2 small so they had to redo the port. The Dr said that in 30 years of surgery he has never had this happen. Lucky me!!! I have 3 incisions and am VERY sore. I have a sore throat too...not sure what that is from. Anyone else have that problem? I'm scheduled to start chemo Tuesday but I'm nervous I will still be in pain. I'm wondering if the dr will give me a problem pushing chemo back until I'm out of pain. They gave me percocet at the hospital which made me vomit. I switched to vicoden and it seemed to help...but I'm worried about constipation so I'm hesitant in taking it. UGh....I can't wait for all this crap to be over...I'm so tired of it.....Sorry for the complaining but I'm feeling down today.
-
Run- I didnt have a port but I hope you heal up quickly so you can start chemo.
-
sweetpickle... thank you
-
Run4us-I am, again, so sorry you are hurting! You need to get those pain meds into you. Lortabs constipated me..take your vicodin and the old fashion ExLax chocolate (only one works on bad constipation for me)..I also had hummus with saltines to settle queazy tummy..hummus has LOADS of fiber in it. Or if there is a Waffle House in your town..go get loaded hashbrowns..they work in extreme situations..lol...you seriously do need to take meds. Also, your throad is sore because they put tube down your throat to put you to sleep. My anest dude said that he was using smaller tube because shorter surgery..hah..my surgery was around a hour and woke with same sore throat as I did others..Icecream..preferably with crumbled chocolate chip cookies...just sayin. I'm praying your pain will not be long.
-
GoWith-Come a little closer....
...close enough to look in my eyesss
-
Run4us, I hope you will get some relief soon. I'll say a prayer for you.
-
Run4us, you are NOT complaining! I'm gonna say that again. You are NOT complaining! You are dealing with cancer it stuff hurts. Honey, just try to take it one minute at a time. Definitely take the Vicodin. They really help with taking the edge off. Lots of fluids and colase will help with the constipation plus walking if you can.
I'll pray for a good night sleep for you! -
Vicodin, vicodin, vicodin.
Just got back from the pool. They had a dive in movie tonight for the kids. Bring your float and play away. It was really nice to be sitting out at the pool tonight. We had dinner there, then I played word find on my ipod touch (forgot my kindle) while my son and friends played basketball and in the pool.
I'm achy now. Thinking tomorrow will be a quiet day for me.
