My wife. No, more than than that, my best friend, just found out Friday, May 7th at 4pm. She had just had a mamogram and a second proceedure the day before and was taking the day off to recover. The nurse (with whom i am beyond angry with) said they found something and needed to contact her OBGYN as soon as possible.  After tracking down her Doc, we got the news, theres a mass, we have options but we have to move fast and before i could say a word, she choose to have a radical mastectomy. There it is, just like that! I support my wife with no question, at 42 she has a very long life ahead if we can get thru this. I'm 50, a 17 year lung cancer survivor and i am scared all to hell about this. The few people that we have told outside our family seemed to have changed over night. Some seem to have forgotten how to talk, while others act as if they come close to her, they will get it too. I want to just lash out and... but i have to hold it together. So much to say but i got to keep it in and be strong for my wife and our boys. 2 to 3 weeks is our time frame that the Doc is wanting everything to be done.

    Looks like the next real obstacle is my wifes place of employment. Some are trying to talk her out of doing this while her supervisor is telling her she needs to make her appointments all on her 1 day off during the week (so he doesnt have to stay past his 8 hr day). He even went as far as deleting all her work and files from her computer and making the new person the admin just incase things dont work out with "her problem". How is she suposed to keep a positive outlook? Their job is all about positive reinforcement and compassion!!! I'm sorry but i need a place just to sound off, i cant do it here at home, i dont drive and Amy and I split the day as care givers for her mentally disable mom, so i cant really go very far or be gone to long. So please forgive me for using this as a place to unload at times.
