Brooksy: Yes, BC can be painful. Mine wasn't but I know of others here who experienced what you're feeling. Maybe one of them will be along shortly.

I had a pain under my arm when first diagnosed.  Sometimes, if the tumor grows quickly, it will pull on nerves.  That was what I experienced.

If it wasn't for the pain, I might not have started feeling around and found the lump as quickly.  Did they give you anything for the pain?  If not, I would ask.  I didn't get relief until I started chemo 3 weeks later.  Literally took 8 vicodin a day up til the first day of chemo, dropped down to two vicodin the next day.

I am triple negative and my breast lump hurt. It was a burning pain like you mentioned. That is how I found it. Thank god it did hurt and that it was close to the surface or I would have never known since I was only 35 and never had a mammogram. I was actually misdiagnosed at first because they said breast cancer isn't painful so it must be a cyst. I wish doctors would realize that breast cancer can hurt!!!

Hey Brooksy....I was diagnosed in April 2013 and my tumor was painful and I had a burning sensation in that area of my breast.  he burning felt as though it was radiating to under my arm.  I was also told that breast cancer doe not hurt and mine was actually a cyst but everyone (doctors) refer to it as a tumor.
