Good for you, curveball. Mara, be gentle with yourself on that hill. Cooler here today in Washington, DC which is a blessing

Morning gritgirl and everyone trying to get back to some sort of movement.

Just to let you know I managed my walk but I cheated drove the car to the bottom of the hill. I walked the rest of it.

It is another beautiful day here I think we are all in shock over here in the UK we had such an awful spring so seeing the sun everyday is real boost. Lifts the depression of our everyday worries a little .

    Hugs from Mara

Mara. Good to for you. Yesterday was a low activity day for me. Hoping to get more walking in today.

Specialk, curveball. How are you doing?

    Good morning!

Have been getting out walking on a fairly regular basis. Have found that even if I don't want to walk (which is frequently) I just do it anyway. Will cut myself slack by going a slower pace, staying out a little less when it's already hot in the morning or adapting the path I take (staying on flatter ground than the inclines). Yesterday, I had to go inside after the first 15 minutes for a short rest, then back at it again. DD was here and she decided to end before I did; I lasted 45 minutes the second attempt.

Today, instead of usual restorative yoga, we're meeting in a nearby park and going for a nature walk and meditation. Looking forward to that!  (it's overcast now so it should be nice and cool in a couple hours)

    Have a great day, all!

I am heading out shortly for the Livestrong program - we have had much rain over the last few days, it is messing with my walking plans!  Also the mosquitos seem to have found me - the memo must have reached them that I am trying to walk OUTSIDE!  I must be incredibly tasty to them because they bite me a lot!

I took the load of boxes to my new place and unloaded them yesterday. I don't have anything specific on the agenda today and it might end up being mostly a computer day. I just retired and couldn't log in to my IRA account last night to make sure the check from the retirement system has been deposited, and I want to get that straightened out ASAP.

Everything that's left in the storage unit is either too big for me to move alone, earmarked for donation, or items I don't want to move to the new place until I'm actually in residence--computers with financial information and so on. They are safer where they are. But I might call the storage place and see if I can switch to a smaller less expensive space, and if so I would need to move things from where they are now to a new unit. I'll also need to move some things from here at my Mom's to the new place, once she decides what items she will keep when she moves. Also if I get my act together fast enough I might take the donated items and some things for my niece to Portland on Friday night. And if I get all the computer stuff done, I have errands to run which might involve bus travel and walking home from the stop. The weather is supposed to be very nice here all week so I may as well take advantage of it.

edited to add: Later that same day....I didn't go anywhere on the bus but I did walk to the library to return my books. Google map says it's a little over a mile each way. Google maps doesn't say the mile includes a pretty steep hill, but it does!

Gritgirl, didn't work out today. Our plans for restorative yoga to go to the nature park for walk & meditation didn't happen as scheduled. My stomach caused some issues so I left late, the traffic was worst I've seen in a long time. By the time I would have gotten there, there'd only be half the time left (I was the only going beside the leader). Have a splitting headache and not up to a walk.

Gritgirl and every one else struggling like me. I managed a trip into our local city on the bus then a lot of retail therapy. It's amazing how I could keep going and it is warm here. The shopping was a good carrott I did not need the stick lol. Tomorrow will attempt the hill again.

    Take care everyone

All I did today was a little walking from one bus stop to the other...probably not a mile in all, and not done all at once.

Curveball, it doesn't all have to be at once. The docs say so. My walking is all done in segments.

Mara. You inspired me. I actually did my Wii just dance. I mostly move my arms but getting legs more in there.

2nd time, get the rest you need.

So today I walked to my herceptin treatment today, so got a mile in. But then I decided every time they stick me, I'll eat ice cream. But, hey, I'll be a fit fat. :-)

I had a doctor appointment today, so I walked from where I parked the car to the doctor's office, about four blocks each way.

gritgirl - I think a Herceptin stick deserves some ice cream - it is a fair trade-off, lol!  I did some serious cleaning and bed making today and convinced myself it was exercise.

    Hi gritgirl

Walked into the village was just about to attempt that hill again. When along came a friend offering a lift needless to say I did not refuse. The hill lives for another day.

    Have a great weekend.

I would like to know how you all deal with the fear of lymphedema that they put into us. I hate living with this fear every day. Don't do this, don't do that, I feel like every time I use the arm for anything at all, is this going to set it off? Can anyone give me some tips on how to come to terms with this?

Jennie, if you go back to page 1 of this thread, natsfan posted some links with tips for getting back to exercise and avoiding LE. Welcome

Today has been a decent exercise day for me. Did about 45 minutes of gardening and about to head out to walk the dogs. Need the walk to cut my anxiety, which is higher tonight for some reason

Curve ball, think of it as you were working so hard, you need a break.

I'm still laughing about Mara's comment. Are there any flat spaces to walk, Mara. That hill sounds daunting. :-)

That must be quite a hill, Mara! We were without Internet for a couple days so catching up here: Thursday morning had appt with PS and didn't get time for exercise before I left, had a meeting in the evening so I didn't want to go walking and get sweaty; just did gentle stretches for about half an hour (then the phone rang....). Friday, the cable repair came late morning, lots of big cleaning in the morning (long story, but we have boxes in some rooms as we had big-time water damage prior to my bc DX, most of house had to be boxed up as we had all floor throughout the house replaced, had popcorn ceiling taken down while they were at it and entire house was painted. DH was out of work for 2 years, stayed drunk most if the time, didn't do any work around the house while I worked full time so I refused to do unpacking as I was still responsible for cooking, shopping, laundry, and everyday cleaning. He had left packing up the house till last minute so he just dumped stuff in boxes, I had unpacked all major boxes ages ago, left a bunch for him to do - lots of paperwork with personal info so couldn't just be tossed). Anyway, Friday, vacuumed, hauled stuff to the trash, and cleaned... for a couple hours, I counted that towards exercise (what a work out!). Saturday, went to a yoga event for charity, just relaxed yesterday.

Need to put down this iPad and go walking while its still overcast and cool....

Thank you ladies for keeping me accountable! Put some polish on my finger nails, and they had one hour to dry while I went walking. Last week, I was experiencing some pains, for now, wearing flip flops instead of tennis shoes and that seems to help foot pain. Was having pain in both my calves but now today. Will try to get some gentle stretching or yoga in, too.

2nd time. Good for you. I'm very bad about stretching and I need to do more. Today was a very low key day. Didn't much. It is 100% humidity so just icky out there. Have my new fitbit on order. This one is a bracelet. Been using one for a while. Helps me stay motivated. Tried a regular pedometer and just wasn't the same. Something about seeing my steps against other people's steps.
