Hello everyone,

I will just put it right out there. My husband has just been diagnosed with stage 2 Parkinson's disease. He has been my rock through this madness of breast cancer. I just can't believe it. Are there others like me?

    Sharon,

My DH is still okay but I have thought about the "what if's" if he got sick. My heart goes out to you. I pray he progresses slowly or it stops progressing....even better. There are times when it looks scary, the big picture is overwhelming, fear of the unknown is consuming, and we are powerless. Try to just focus on today. In time, you both will adjust to this new diagnosis in your lives and things will normalize again. Hang in there. (hugs)

    Sharon,

I am so sorry you and your husband are facing these health crises simultaneously. Do you have kids? Family & friends to help? Even with just one diagnosis, it's important to seek out & ACCEPT help...which can be hard, sometimes even more so for men! My situation is not as serious but my husband had suffered a heart attack & required stint placement the September before my eventual diagnosis in January. At 43,We have both come to appreciate each other & life much more! Also, My little sister, whom I've always been extremely close to, was diagnosed with MS last May, which is a lifetime struggle like Parkinson's, and we have been great support for each other & become even closer. Sometimes it takes the focus & worry off your own suffering when you have to be there for a loved one, & sometimes it helps to just let go together (just temporarily!) in a mutual self pity pity party! Stay strong & don't be afraid to share here!
