Amen to that Gowith. I can have an anxiety attack just by looking at what all I have done in the past year but the reality is doing one thing at a time didnt make it seem so bad.

I found a new hatred... this d&@m compression belt. My drain isnt bothering me this time but my stomach is so sore.

Sweet pickle I had 3 replies that I typed last night that got lost. So happy to hear your awesome news. Doing a happy dance for you.

Sweet Pickle-YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!Laughing..Just got home and read the great news!!! I am so so so happy for you and no more drains..now you need to do like me..light a fire in your yard and throw your drain cups in them..while cackling madly and dancing around the fire!..lol...I am soooo glad you are cancer free I am tearing up for you!! Wonderful!  (By they way, I had problems getting on this site last night as well..I did, but had to keep clicking every few min..wierd).

GoWith-How has the pain been today?

Catey-You can read back about a week and half ago and I was totally pouting that everyone got showers right after surgery and I had to wait until drains came out..14 days!..I had gotten some bath cloths from hospital you heat up in microwave..they were great..you werent sticky afterwards or anything.  My husband also washed my hair..every other day..as he is slighty rough (not meaning to)..you will feel better once you get that done.  I know I did.

So, all, I went to this new surgeon today..he was nice and all..is putting in my port Friday..I don't think I would normally be nervous about that but I am so tired of being sore and hurting..Plus is my anniversary..!  Did I mention I did my lumpectomy on my birthday?  Then went and met prostetic lady just to get me some kind of something to wear in public to make me match..she didn't have my size..(why she didnt ask this over the phone when we made appt..I dont know)..she thinks I should do camisole..Im with her..I am still very sore in my MX site..my arm is feeing better..doing exercises and still  elevating when I watch tv religiously, so thats better, although can't reach over my head or reach the floor from a chair yet.

    Ann-Where ya been.. Drains?

Sweetpickle, I am SO happy for you! That is the BEST news.

I was only able to get one drain (out of three) removed today :( One did not meet output requirements and if you have two drains on one side, the only remove one at a time. The earliest I can go back is Thursday, but only if I meet requirements. Although I am bummed, it's all for the best and I can handle it. At least the removal did not hurt.

So I was at chemo with a friend today. We had a big discussion and a lot of chuckles about sex within 48 hours of chemo.

Hey Ladies!  Glad to hear so many of you are making such great progress.  Prayers to those who are a little behind---it'll come.  We all heal in our own time, listen to your body.

I got my port installed today!  I'm feeling great.  Cyndie, the patch worked!!  Quick procedure but can't shower until Friday.  Darn!!  I'll most likely go back to work when I can shower on Friday.  Whole list of things I can't do at my job until the port is healed solidly (I have a very physically demanding job). I got home an hour ago---hungry (I can't believe that) and sleepy.  Bless you all and sleep well everyone.  Tonight I will take some pain meds and sleep like a baby.

Yeah, actually!  I more sore today than I have been in several days but was pretty active over the weekend.  I helps plant the garden and hoisted large, hanging baskets of flowers over my head.  I am sure if I took a Tylenol or something it would feel just fine.  I'm just sore and stiff, not really painful.  It gets better.... Yes it does!  Tonight, I plan to take something good and sleep deeply.   I'm not too proud. Wink

Ann-I don't know how I missed your post!  I've been about to die to hear!  Congrats on the drain!..Hell, one is way better than none!  Demon Drains!..and you are right..you don't want them out too early!  So are you feeling any better?

Glad you got one out Ann!  One down and one to go.  The surgeon took 25ml out of my left side today.  Feel better but still sore.

So, while we were at chemo, I brought up the whole sex after chemo topic.  My friend and her husband had never heard that.  So we brought in an RN who hadn't heard it either.  So we brought in a chemo nurse, and she said "yes, you want to wear protection if you have sex within 48 hours of chemo".  So, it is true, we had tons of laughs about it, I"m sure the whole infusion center was buzzing about the whole thing. :D

All you dear ladies are cracking me up! I love this thread.

Yes, I am feeling better, the drain they removed was the one that was the most bothersome, so I am thankful for that. I am counting my blessings when I can.

GoWith-As the RN and others didn't know..I do believe they need to put up billboards around the US! This may cause a huge boost in condom sales!...LOLOL...I'm glad you are feeling better.

I am going to make Walmart run tomorrow or Thurs to get stuff for chemo.  I know GoWith said that Udderly Smooth for feet..but any other suggestions to help combat side effects that I could put on my shopping list?  Go With-anything in that basket you took your friends I need to get?

If you have a trader joes, their dill pickles are awesome.  Otherwise, get some dill pickles you like.  It's one of the few things that you can taste on those yukky days.  The udderlysmooth lotion can probably be found at walmart. I got the last one at CVS, the first one at Bed Bath and Beyond.  Lip balm (my lips would dry out and hurt - when I go out, I use a lip pencil to color my lips a bit, then the lip balm).  Crystal lite lemonade powder.  I buy the containers that have the tubes to make a quaart or whatevere at a time.  But I just rip it open, pour however much I want into my glass of water, then use a clip to close up the tube.

Watermelon was good for me too.  Crackers to just get something in your stomach.  When I got sick of water or lemonade, I would drink orange juice.  Sometimes switch it up with orange banana, orange strawberry, orange pineapplle.  One time I got peach mango and it was good (I think it was tropicana but I can't remember which store I got it at, so I haven't gotten it again).

Supposedly things with spice, lemon, vinegar help with taste.  Sea salt to put on your food (brings out the taste).

That's all I can think of right now.

    Cateyz2,

I too, have tissue expanders which are placed under my skin and not the muscle. I will be having a delayed DIEP in September. They feel WEIRD and look like lumpy hamburger buns. While in surgery, they filled one side with 50 ccs and the other with 150 ccs. I had my first post op appointment today but they didn't give me a fill. The next one is scheduled for June 20.

Ckmoss- When I went through chemo my face got super dry, I felt like a lizard and my regular face cream burned and didnt do anything for the dryness. I tried Aquafor made by Eucerin and it cleared it right up with no irritation. Just an fyi.

Thanks for the tips..I have wrote all down.  The crystal light is going to be easy..I am addicted to their peach tea and pomegrante/cherry. I'll have to try the others!  I've heard Eucerin is good but didn't know they made a face cream. Thanks for those tips..and if I am remembering correctly..the magic mouthwash is prescrip.

One more question-did ya'll lose weight during chemo? I'm hoping I can take off this 45 lbs that I've packed on working on my butt 8 hrs!  So, I'm calling this my chemo cleanse..cleanse of all cancer cells, weight and get back my thicker hair that I've lost since turning 40 and a few waves would be very nice (as my hair is straight as a stick)!~

um, no, didn't lose weight during chemo.  Remember those steroids we talked about getting to keep you from getting sick?  They make you hungry.

Gowith-sighhh. I was impressed about eating baked chicken and rice cakes that my doctor told me to eat 2 days before chemo..loads of water..I've been so in to my comfort food since being diagnosed!  The only thing that has kept my weight from getting worse is after MX I hardly ate anything for a week..queasy..mostly saltines. I do remember when they took me back to the room after surgery..they had brought me a tray (dont remember that) but Mom spooning icecream in my mouth because I had complained about sore throat and putting wet wash rags on my head and throat..My husband has been absolutely wonderful..but Mom..no one can comfort you as well!

So my surgeon said no ibuprofin or aspirin until Friday because of surgery for port..had to take lortab today and because they keep me awake..took another percocet . I've been so sore lately and nightime..although sleeping better and on that side..still more painful lying down then up.  AND he said no motrin PM.  Sadist!

Hi ladies. Ann thats great that you at least got 1 drain out.

Maine congrats on gettinng your port. Thats another milestone behind you.

Go with how are you feeling? How did doc appt go?

Ck I packed a small cooler with ice, water, popsicles and brought peanut butter and cheese crackers and peanut butter and jelly sandwich, blanket, laptop or book or music. I however used the ice for my mouth and fingers during adriamycin and taxotere infuions. I got a prescription forsome kind of lidocaine type cream and put it on my port 1 hour before. Oh i also used a lot of biotine mouthwash cause my mouth was always dry. Water became my friend and thats still all I drink now. Paint clear polish on my nails and teatree oil on nails. Not sure if it works but I didnt have nail problems. Thats all i remember.

    Healing hugs.

Hello Ladies, glad to hear that things are going good for many of you.

Well had 1st post op visit today of course dissapointed I returned home with both drains intact, but in all honesty I knew it was to early to take out. Told to call thursday with my outputs and PS will advise.

My daughter went with me and I forgot to ask how many ccs they filled at time of surgery but I was so uncomfortable, kept having shooting pains on right side (Non-cancer) and my left is fine. Was only with dr maybe 2 minutes, looked at them said they were positioned well a little bruising and swelling and that was it. I was hist first patient and he was running late as he just got out of surgery.

    Maybe Thursday.

Cateyz2-I am sorry you still have drains and sharp pain.  Is pain due to your TE's? I'm not familiar with those, if so...I am, however, familiar with a sharp or shooting pain for no reason..would come out of the blue! Along with other strange feelings! I even felt my non existant nipple one night..(that was kinda bittersweet and freaky at same time!). All that, for me, went away by the 2nd week. Now just left with just plain sore.

Mcmcbee-Thanks for suggestions! I was reading ya'lls tips to my husband and he was like "I guess you will pitching a tent and staying awhile"..lol..he says this when we go on vacation as I take everything but the foundation on our house!

Has anyone heard how long it takes soreness and healing to be through on MX site? My prostetic woman said mine looked "angry"..but had just had small strips of tape taken off site and cleansed..but still having about 10 drops of blood a day from there..I see on my bra or whatever I have on and is brown.  Sorry to be so graffic..he said it looked fine but to me looks the same..like no change ???
