Pathology Report says "matted" nodes found but no blue dye???

Hello everyone,

I do hope someone can shed some light on my path report for me. Although I am 9 months since DX I have just plucked up the courage to really study my path report. I was aware of the basic facts of my cancer but felt I was ready to "find out" everything now.

I had a lumpectomy and SNB. Regarding the SNB, my path report says that 3 nodes were found but no blue dye seen.... does this mean that the sentinel nodes were not found but some others?

Also it said that of the 3 that were found 2 were matted and measured over 2cm in diameter, the 3rd was only 0.8cm in diameter (no mention of any matting).

All 3 nodes were negative though (good I know) but I am very confused by what the above means.
