Triple negative breast cancer

Hi Everyone, I am new to the form and was diagnosed with stage 2a triple negative breast cancer 3 years ago. I still live with the fear of recurrence. It's pretty hard dealing with this. I have heard from others that with triple negative breast cancer, it is rare to have a recurrence after 5 to 10 years. Is this true? Are there any women here who have experienced recurrences of TNBC even after 5 years of being in remission?

It is true statistically that after 5 years, those with tnbc have less chance of recurrence than our hormone positive sisters.

However, I have seen one tnbc on these boards having a recurrences after 8 years.

I don't know anyone who has had BC who ever TOTALLY avoids fears of recurrence. It all all a matter of degree. If my anxiety was interfering with my current quality of life, I would see a therapist experienced with patients who have had BC or other similar cancers who might be able to help me handle my anxiety better.

    Hope this helps,

    Hugs,

    Peggy

I had a cancer registrar tell me that most women with breast cancer will recur after 5 years which just really frightened me even more.

I had a cancer registrar tell me that most women recur from breast cancer after 5 years of being in remission and she also stated that so does women with triple negative breast cancer.  I just try to move on with my life and not worry about it anymore.
