Newbie - No surgery?

Hello to my new sisters. I was diagnosed in November 2012 actually, but have just joined BCO. I have not used Discussion Boards or Chat Rooms before, so I am a bit intimidated by the technological aspect of how this works....tried Facebook...doesn’t really work for me....But a support outside the family would be helpful...

Mammograms & ultrasounds still missed the early stages. My initial DX is Stage IV - Left breast (way on edges of ribs) axillary nodes and Hylar nodes. The biopsy showed ER++/ PR+ but antihormones (Arimidex, Zolodex & Faslodex in combo) only caused slight change in the 1st 3 months. 6 month CT shows growth in the lungs so now I have been changed to Xeloda by mouth (2 weeks on - 1 off). Had a brain MRI last week will get results on Thursday.

Still hoping for surgery to get rid of the primary but the Onc seemed to say that I would not have surgery at all. Anyone going without having surgery to remove the primary tumor?

I would get a second opinion from a n oncological surgeon just to understand why or why not you're a candidate for surgery. You'll have peace of mind in that respect if a surgeon agrees with your oncologist.
