    Sorry about your phone, Sandy - that does stink.

    What also stinks is my house.  I was boiling water to make some rice and the water boiled away before I got off my lazy butt to put the rice in and the pot started burning... I have fans in the windows and the house still stinks.  Guess I'm going to have to fess up when the family returns to a house that smells like I burned something...  Why am I such a loser?!

    Linda, I love that the roses and daisies are a living memorial.
    Chris, I like the pic..you look like a kid...Cool
    How many times have I cooked out the liquid in a pot?  Too many!! no big deal....I agree it smells pretty bad though
    Sandy, what the heck?  what next? awww this is your week off...don't let this stuff take over...
    Sheila, I'll go.........
    It was a beautiful day here...I enjoyed watching my yard with new grass and rhodedendrons in bloom.  It used to be all dead trees and vines; now it's a garden...and the birds are happy we're back to feed them.
    Back to work tomorrow...but e-a-s-y days.  I'll be on line. Laughing

    Sandy - hope that phone gets taken care of today.....

    Deb - hope you are taking care of you.

    Sheila - I wanna go too. :)

    I agree with Joan - you look like a kid Chris.   We all do the stupid stuff like cooking out the water - and now that I am older, I think "so what".

    Joan - welcome home to your new garden.  I am enjoying mine as well.  We were just talking last night about how we don't remember seeing rhodies in New England which we assumed was due to weather - I guess we were wrong.

    Look on the bright side, Chris.  At least the rice wasn't in the pot when it boiled dry!

    Joan and Diane. Gardening is so rewarding and therapeutic.  I spent many hours this weekend in mine.  I planted seeds in the greenhouse, and cleaned up around the yard.  I cannot wait to get the backyard landscaped.  DH tells me this year...we'll see.

    I spend hours hanging out in local nurseries and every visit, I find a new favorite :)  While looking for inspiration, I drove through a neighborhood nearby and fell in love with a groundcover I had never seen.  I took a picture and finally found it - hoping to get it in the ground - it's been raining and raining, so I need to wait a bit.

    I love gardening too, unfornately the animals eat everything!  I do have a fence around my veggies.

    I am staining the outside cellar stairs, they are huge.  And it's hot!

    I also cannot browse the garden center for my favorites because the deer eat everything.
    I agree, gardening is good for the soul; but my yard is bigger than my soul now...clearing so much and planting has created endless work...but I think it looks better.
    Another (easy) day of work ahead....am trying to finish off the bathroom renovation and need a few more things; so I can work on that during the day now that it's not busy.  I do have a ton of work to do, but will ease in to that Cool

    Please don't think that by my following post that I in any way negate the gravity of Deb's loss.

    ~~~
    I am very excited.  Yesterday DH scheduled a backhoe to come and finished digging our pond.  Four weeks, but at least it is scheduled.  DH and I sat in the backyard and hashed out what we both want in the landscaping.  I am looking forward to it for so many reasons, but one main one is bacause once the backhoe has done it's job, we will pour the foundation and then my vegetabloe garden can move back to the side of the yard and my backyard won't look like a retail nursery.
    Glad you are able to do the things you want to your yard, Meece.  You too, Joan.  Sounds like your yard is very pretty.  I kill plants so I haven't tried to plant anything.  DD wants a blue hydrangea ( I think that's what it is) like our neighbor's in our yard - but when I googled it, it sounds like it needs to be maintained...  I will kill it if I try to maintain it myself.  "D"H used to say he wanted some landscaping in the yard.  But I know he won't take care of it.  He put together a nice flower garden in the back.  It was sparse the first year - looked really nice the 2nd year - started to get overgrown the 3rd year and was taken over by weeds after that.  And the surrounding trees grew a lot so it ended up all shaded anyway.  Now it is a mini forest after all the maple tree helicopters took root in it...  So, I have not encouraged the landscaping "D"H wanted. If he wants it, first, we will need to use low maintencance plants and then we will have to pay a landscaper to maintain them.
    ((((((TOL))))))
